What a fantastic first castle for a young boy or girl. My little girl (2.5) loves this toy and I think it would be suitable for most children from about age 3-8.Exceptionally well made and nicely painted on the outside. The inside is plain wood but with lots of rooms, arched windows and staircases for imaginary play. There is a drawbridge on thick elastic which comes down and also a neat little dungeon/jail area. The furniture in red and gold coloured paint is lovely - you get a bed, 2 thrones and a treasure chest. My daughter loves the figures (king, queen, 2 soldiers and 2 horses) even though I'm not so keen on how they look. They all stand up well and are just the right size for small hands to play with.A handle has been incorporated into the design so it is very handy for taking away on holidays or days out. So very useful.Wonderful toy and I really cannot think of anything negative to say about it. Extremely happy with purchase.

This is a great item, I love the fact that is is neat and compact, the figures can be stored inside and it could be popped in the boot if you were going away quite easily. I think its good quality and my 4 year old and 1 year old both love fiddling around with the trap doors and all the bits and bobs that came with it. Its good figures are included - so many toys con you on that front. My 4 year old isn't as interested in the figures and I find Mike the Knight and fireman sam etc tend to move into the castle more often than not! The only thing this set is missing, in my opinion is a dragon! Its nice to have a break from all the plastic most toys are made of. My mum brought this for my son as a present, and I can see it being the kind of thing we'd like to keep in the family and pass around younger relatives etc.

Right so to start the assembly is a pain it took us over an hour me and hubby, the roof is a pain, the holes wouldn't line up so one screw we couldn't put it. The balconys are awful came off straight as the kids played with it, also the pic on the box is clearly an old photos as the stairs line up differently, we ended up gluing the balconys and stairs so the kids wouldn't keep knocking them off. So other than them things it is a great dollhouse my boys love it I wish they did more unisex colours every dollhouse is pink it seems. It comes with great furniture, but no dolls we already had some, overall apart from some building issues they should address, it is a great buy, just don't built it on Xmas eve

It is smaller than I expected but that is on me as the measurements are on the listingit is well made and nicely painted on the outside. The inside is plain wood but plenty of rooms, windows and staircases ( we printed off some images from the internet and essentially wallpapered the inside )There is a drawbridge on elastic which comes down and also a little dungeon area.it has a handle that so it is very handy for taking away on holidays or sleepovers etc .The figures are not great but we use other toys as substitutes playmobil etcIt is good value in my opinion, yes it isn't up to the standards of playmobil but it's half the price

I gave this to my daughter for her second birthday, she LOVES her house. It is quite compact and comes with chunky furniture which is great for little hands and two bendy dolls, bits have already been trodden on but nothing has broken. I like that everything fits inside the house for quick tidying. My son (5) has had the fold and go knights castle for over a year and despite lots of rough play it's still as good as new. Melissa and Doug make lovely simple kids toys which encourage kids to use their imagination and stand up to years of play, we've bought a few things over the years and I can't rate this company highly enough.

This is a lovely toy - it's sturdy and well made. I looked at many different wooden castles before choosing this and I'm glad of my decision. The inside is plain, but has lots of scope for imaginative play, with staircases, lots of rooms and a dungeon. The little figures and furniture are great too. The castle exterior is attractive and it folds away perfectly, into a little carry case. We bought it for our four year old and he loves making up little stories with it. Our one year old also loves it and it withstands his slightly clumsier play no problem. We all love this castle.

I bought this for part of my 6 year old grandson's Christmas present. He loved it and especially that it had figures in it and it has dungeons and thrones and a treasure chest. My town's toy shop closed last year, as did the one in the next town and because I'd had 2 operations on my left knee in August and November of last year and couldn't travel on public transport. I decided to buy as many presents as I could online. I was really surprised, I'll definitely do this again. It can be closed easily and carried by a 6 year old. once closed, nothing falls out.Thank you.

So pleased with my purchase of this for my 4 year old - tho my 2 year old is equally interested. They love the drawbridge/entrance on elastic and the dungeon inside. The figures it came with are well made (king, queen, 2 soldiers, 2 horses, 2 thrones and a treasure chest) are perfect in getting the imaginative play going, and now my sons add loads of extra characters from other sets (mainly playmobil which are the perfect size!). I bought it on offer at Christmas for just £19 but would pay full price for it happily - it seems to me to be a toy that will last for ages!

I bought this as a present for a two-year-old, and it was just right. There is a good set of furniture, a couple of little dolls, and the whole thing is free of the garish colours that spoil so many toys. You can add your own stuff, of course, and sometimes little Lego figures and Night Garden characters come and visit the house and get walk-on parts in stories and games. The carry handles on the top make it easy to move around, even for a small child, but I think I'll add a hook and eye to keep it closed. It is a good quality product - I am glad I bought it.

Great success with my grandson (30 months) when he opened it Christmas morning. Read the reviews before purchasing and as they were all good went ahead and ordered it. Easy for small hands to handle and folds away without taking up too much space. Would like to see the range extended to include, as one reviewer suggested, a dragon as well as extra figures and furnishings. An added bonus is the use of wood so no bits breaking off which happens with most overpriced plastic themed toys these days. Would definitely recommend purchasing this item.

Lovely compact dolls house for those who have less space to store one.Finished well, painted well, handles are robust. The furniture it comes with is a bit flimsy, the bed was completely broken on our set, not glued properly. However, we didn't complain as its excellent value for money provided it's purchased before Christmas season when the price inflates. However, the Melissa and Doug Castle is a better layout in terms of size, should you be deciding between the house and castle, we have both and the castle is spacious in comparison.

we’re very pleased with our purchase- I have a 4 year old and 2 year old and they can both easily play with the house together without too many arguments! It was easy to assemble, the colours are bright and it has lots of space. The furniture that comes with it is also sturdy and fun, hours of imaginative play already had. Only comment would be the lift isn’t as great as it could be as it doesn’t always hold on the different floors and slides down. Haven’t taken a star off though as it doesn’t take away from the brilliant product overall

Bought this for a 7 year olds birthday who has additional needs. He absolutely loves it and plays with it daily. I did think it was rather basic when I first opened it as it just has compartments where you can put furniture etc. It does come with some furniture and figures and my son plays a lot with the furniture but the figures are not great and have been discarded. I bought playmobil knights and dragons for him to play with it and he loves them and they are a lot sturdier.Easy to fold closed and put back in the shelf.

This has to be the most perfect little castle, it is a realy lovly size for tiny hands and as it comes with wooden people and horses there is nothing else to add to it, it is so clever the way it folds up and is stored in between play. It is just as a castle should be, made strongly and painted to look just like the real thing. my grandson loves it and mummy loves it as it takes up no room at all when not in use it is a perfect start for a boys play time. melissa and doug toys are always good and never disapoint.

This castle was a purchase for my 2 year old daughter's birthday. She LOVED it. We bought additional figures from Melissa & Doug. The only thing that got annoying was the doors that had elastic to keep them closed made for a fun noise toy when the kids kept pulling the door and letting it go to hear the wood slap together. I have considered putting some fabric around those doors to prevent this. I have always loved the craftsmanship and value for money that Melissa & Doug provide with their toys.
