This is a new model from Maglite. I love that Maglite sticks with their roots and still develop a new incandescent flashlight in 2016, when pretty much everything nowadays is about LED. I grew up with incandescent lights and have always preferred the rich color spectrum. While the advantage of LED cannot be ignored for more powerful flashlights, I still like incandescent for situations where I don’t need a lot of light.I like this little ML25IT a lot. The quality is very good, just as you would expect from Maglite. It is a little smaller than I thought it would be and will easily fit in a jacket pocket. It feels very good in the hand. To turn on the light, you just turn the head.All this makes it kind of like a 2AA mini mag on steroids. The color tint of the bi-pin xenon bulb is just right for my eyes. As usual with Maglite, there is a spare bulb in the tail cap. Bulbs are the same as the “upgrade bulb” Magnum Star II for the older style 2D and 2C Mags. These bulbs are by the way made Germany.Just remember that it is what it is, a flashlight with 30 lumens output. This means that it is not as bright as the sun, but for general around the house and camping use it works very well. I use the ML25IT mainly for indoors, trips to the basement and for close-up work. The output is pretty much perfect for low light situations and is not too bright to hurt my eyes.The switch mechanism in mine was a little bit clunky at first, but after some vaseline on the threads, it is now very very smooth and can easily be operated with only one hand.I have a lot of Maglites and actually didn’t need any more, but the price on Amazon was so great that I just had to get one. I actually bought two, as this might be the last incandescent classic from Maglite. Or maybe it is the first classic of a new kind, who knows.I can recommend this for general around the house and camping purposes I mentioned above. If you are after a more powerful flashlight, you should look into the LED version of the same light, the ML25LT. If you need even more power than that, then you should look at the 600+ lumens versions ML50L/ML50LX (C baby cells) or ML300L/ML300LX (D mono cells). Those are fantastic flashlights and the result of some impressive progress Maglite has made during the last couple of years.

I was actually pretty impressed with the beam on this small xenon C battery flashlight ... in comparison to other 2D maglites the beam seams to be smaller and more concentrated but the spread is were it lacks big timeIve put it up against my streamlight stinger xenon and the beam is about the same but the hot spots about half the size and more concentrated on the maglite ML25LT... zoomed out the ML25LT is worst than a AA mini mag were the streamlight could easily light a roomif you want a good small xenon maglite that works more like a little spot light than the ML25LT will probably impress you but expect almost zero performance when the beams spread out

These original Maglites are getting harder to find. LEDs are great, but I like old-school and this fits the bill. Tough, bright, and simple in a very handy package.
