...is rare in model railways.BUT the Marklin my world system has been one of those purchases that has appealed to many visitors to my home be they 4 or 64.The 'train' is not a scale model but better described as a 'stand-off' model of the DB Lint branch commuter train.The rechargeable battery makes the unit more self contained and runs for about 4 hours after a full charge.The 'stick' controller is more wide ranging than the original 'clicker' style unit; so controlling the model is more accurate and less directional.One thing you may find is that the junior modeller won't make this a favourite because it is only a two car train compared to the ICE models with 5 cars this model is lessappealing.However for those of a more mature outlook the two car works perfectly well shuttling along a branchline. and with the correct arrangement of point work the model will provide an afternoon of entertainment.Add another two or three units to your branchline and a session of high jinks operation can be had with a few friends even those not railway minded.Proper playing trains for the fun and enjoyment of it.Not wildly expensive for what you get, the model can be purchased with or without track.I would recommend buying a good selection of expansion track packs of points and straights, a couple of the stations and a limited number of curves.A very usable and entertaining 'train-set' can be put together for about £200.But this can be done piecemeal and over a period.My Axminster & Wilton 'pop-up railway was put together in this manner.Because the track does not need a baseboard you can lay the line on the room's carpet or directly on floor.Overall the Marklin My world system is tops; the models are quality items albeit not true scale.But recognisable as a version of the real thing.The track is robust and proof against small children pets and the odd adult foot fall.
