This is my son's favourite game for his LeapPad. I have to admit that I bought his game from the Leapfrog online store and downloaded it straight to his LeapPad, it was twenty pounds but you don't have to worry about cartridges or packaging as he always has his favourite game ready.Although it's called Pet Pals it doesn't really feature many different pets, just puppies. There are approximately 6 puppies to choose from, pug, dalmatian etc. At the beginning of the game your child chooses one puppy, if they look after it for a while and earn points then they can then choose a second puppy. The puppies need to be fed, watered, bathed and stroked, you can also dress them up,teach them tricks and play with toys with them.Outside the house there are several other activities:* Meeting puppy friends, each time your child interacts with another puppy they are asked a question which reqiures the correct emotional response, for example, "Cupcake has lost her favourite bone, how does she feel, happy or sad?". Although basic it is nice to see an emphasis on friendship and kindness.* Treasure hunt, my little boy's favourite, your puppy and one of it's friends take turns digging in the garden, you can find a varity of items, doggy dollars (to spend in shops), junk items or collectibles (soft toys, dinosaur bones or gems which are displayed in the house).* Shops where you can buy items using the doggy dollars won in other activities. There is a clothes shop where you can pick hats, sunglasses and coats/jackets etc and a food/toy store, there always seems to be basic dog food in the house but the luxury food you can buy earns extra oints for puppy care.* Trick centre (not it's official name, can't remember that) you can teach your puppy new tricks, bark, somersault, sit etc. To teach the puppy a trick you have to trace over a line or shape 3 times, this can be tricky for younger children as it seems quite sensitive on the touch screen.* Playground so your puppy can meet up with it's friends and play ball, not sure what else you can do here.* Dog Shows, there are three parts to the dog shows, bathing your puppy, dressing your puppy and maths. The questions in the maths section are fairly easy for younger children, for example there are three pictures, each one containing a varying number of sticks, and you have to choose which picture has the most or least amount of sticks etc. Each section is scored out of 3 stars. Not sure exactly how many stars to win but my four year old gets 1st place every time so must not be too difficult. If you get 3 stars on the maths part you gain extra doggy dollars. The trophies are displayed in the house.Out of all the activities on the LeapPad. this is one of my son's favourites and in his opinion it definately beats his other games. It might not be the most educational game there is but there is a bit of maths and it does have some social interactions between puppies. Every instruction is spoken aloud so it doesn't require reading ability. Older children may find it a little simple and get bored quickly but it is good fun for little ones, would recommend.

My two daughters, ages four and six, enjoy Pet Pals 2 very much. Their favorite part of the game is that they get to pick their own pets. My four year old will play the game more than my six year old.In the game, you play games in order to earn Doggie Dollars. You can use the Dollars to buy them clothes and accessories. Children have to solve math problems in order to get through the Show section of the game. When you synchronize your Leapster Explorer with your computer, it will send the parents an e-mail message with the child's total game time and report card - what skills they are learning using the games that you have. The game now arrives in a cardboard box, there is no longer a plastic case for each individual cartridge. You may want to consider buying the soft bag that goes along with the Leapster to store all your games so they do not get lost. The cartridges are small, and are easily misplaced. I have found the bag to helpful in keeping everything together.

I really have nothing to complain about this leapster title. My 5 year old son loves it and played the first Pet Pals game for the whole year prior to being this as a Christmas present.I do have a complaint on the cost off shipping this title. Thankfully it arrived before Christmas, although I had ordered it in early December and was given an arrival window of four weeks. I could have bought it retail at full cost plus tax and paid less then here. Because I made a bundled purchase from different providers, I didn't want to cancel one portion of it and just let it be. Charging such ridiculous shipping fees for such a small product is ridiculous and I will make sure not to purchase from sellaragain.

I was leary about buying this game with the bad reviews about it freezing up. But, we have had no problems with this game. My daughter did say the game started her over once but then the next day it was back to where she was, so I think it was something she did. It's not really much of a "learning game" in my opinion but my daughter wanted it to take care of pets. My daughter is nearly 6.5 and in first grade and the math in it is way to easy for her. The age level for the game is 4-7 and I would say it's closer to 4-5. And there really isn't a lot of math in the game to begin with. But that's ok, it's just a game for fun in my opinion.

My children LOVE animals, and especially dogs. Even having two German Shepherds in the house, they still want more doggy-orientated toys and games!I bought this when it was on offer at £10. Although for how much my children love the game, I'd say at full price it is well worth it too.Very easy to use and there are so many different things to do while in game play. My three year old managed to easily navigate her way around the game, and with some of the explorer games aimed at a 4-7 year old audiences, she can find some things a little tough, but not this. An excellent game for youngsters.I would highly recommend!

My mum bought this for my son for xmas for the Leapster GS he got for his birthday. The game is great & keeps his attantion for quite a while however we were finding that it was locking up the leapster after 5-10 mins & the only way to re-start it was to remove the batteries. We also tried the game in his brothers new leappad2 & the same thing happened. After looking at the other reviews i was all ready to send it back to amazon to swap it for another game. However after connecting both devices to Leapfrog connect to down load the extras etc it seams that downloading the petpals micromods fixes the game!

My sons favorite game.99% of leap pad games are all educational. Not that this one doesn't have it's merits but I wanted to get him something that was just fun. He uses all his games and apps but I wanted to give him something he could play with that would just let him enjoy himself sometimes. This was perfect. It does teach you a bit about life skills. How to make someone feel better. How to know if someone is down. It also teaches you how to take care of your puppy. Feed, bathe, play, train. It's my sons' favorite. He plays it quite often.

Bought this game to go with LeapFrog Leapster. It is a very good game which engaged my 5 year old son for hours on the plane. I would recommended this game to children who love animals. The packaging, however, is a disappointment. It came in a paper box which cannot be reused. The game cartage is left unprotected when not in used. This is a surprise. We have several of these games from Toys'R'us which came with plastic containers similar to DVD cases. This is the first time the game came without a plastic case.

We bought this and the princess game for my daughter's 6th birthday and while she was done with the princesses in a day, she ADORES this game! To the point where we have to cut her off and I'm looking for another game that might be slightly more educational that she would like as much. This game is like crack to her- seriously. She can't get enough of it and it never seems old! Excellent for road trips :) I do recommend the headphones though- blow drying your pet is really, really loud.

My daughter loves this game, shes 4 turning 5 shortly and alot of the explorer games that say they are her age range I have been disappointed that they really arent, they are almost always still a little too above her. This game has room for her to grow with it so after a year she wont find it too easy but it gives her alot to do right now too. It is not really super educational, meant to be more of a fun game than a learning game but it has some learning qualities.

I bought this game for my six year old sister. She used to play with the tinkerbell game which was very difficult to navigate and she already finished the Kai lan game multiple times. So I thought I'd buy her a new game that she'll definitly love. Because this game lets you create more than 2 pets, I had to teach my sister that she shouldn't have more than two. This game really teaches responsibility in addition to fun interactions with the game characters.

The only thing I dont like about this is that one of the games requires the kids to trace letters but if the kid doesnt stay exactly in the lines, they have to keep doing it over. Even an adult cant stay exactly on the lines that they put because they dont match the lines on the screen.. They need to make allowance for the kids' or adults hands to move a little more! especially since their lines dont completely match the lines on the screen.

I bought this game for my 4 year old daughter who loves dogs. It is a very simple game and she loves it. Choose a dog, feed it, train it, buy clothes for it, show it and when you have earned enough points you get to own another dog.The only downside is you can only have two dogs in play at once which my daughter was not happy about. You can reset the game though and start from the beginning again.

I purchased this game when it was on offer at £12.99, however after seeing my daughter playing this for hours on end I would have happily paid full price for it. I would highly recommend this game for any child, especially ones who love animals! My daughter is four and has no problems working out how to wash, feed and look after the puppies. A must buy! Delivery from Amazon superb.

My Daughter 6, and Son 3, really love this game. It has kept them entertained for hours. It is educational as well, so I can be happy that they are learning while they are playing. The only downside is the packaging it comes in is not designed very well and is all cardboard. Which means the game card cannot be stored away when you have finished playing with it
