I bought this game cause I had nothing else better to do. The pictures on the back of the box looked cool and I like these type of games. I'm also a big fan of shoot em' up games like Unreal Tournament and Half life and Rogue Spear. But, I also like good adventure games.I've played the Tomb Raider series and I never liked it for some reason. Like many of the other people have stated earlier, this game does beat Tomb Raider away. I think the graphics are a lot better than tomb raider. I remember Tomb raider's puzzle's were really dumb and the maps were SOOOOOOOOO huge that finding a puzzle was a pain. It's a little of the opposite with Infernal Machine.Basically you control Indy and you run and Jump and whip and shoot and pick up artifacts for money and solve puzzles. You solve puzzles by pushing things or pulling things or moving things or dropping here and there. The idea is simple, but it's really fun.Pro's: Nice graphics, nice control (with a Gravis X-terminator), Nice sound, nice puzzles, and good storyline. Many people have complained about how the controls suck. If you have a Gravis X-terminator, you will have no problems. The default buttons are setup up perfectly and you'll never have to touch the keyboard unless you are moving your mouse to save. Also someone said that Indy moves too slow - I have not thought that at all. He runs and jumps with good speed. I'm running on a 450 Mhz Celeron with a VooDoo5500 AGP with 128 MB of RAM on 1024x768 on 32 bit mode and I see no slow downs. I think these people are playing on a keyboard or some lower end gamepad and machine. The puzzles are pretty simple, but not too easy. Most of them are logical, but some I have had to go on the internet and look for walkthrough's for this game. The first time I got this game, it kept me playing for 2 hours. I never play games that long!Cons: One thing that I found sucky was Indy's aiming. you do have a gun and you can shoot spiders and german commies and stuff, but his aiming is SOOOOOOOo awful! It's like I'm standing point blank in front of a commie and I keep shooting but I keep missing. If you do end up killing something, you're guaranteed to have lost a little health cause Indy's aiming sucks in this game.Another thing I found sucky was using the whip. I had a hunch you could use the whip to climb. So, I kept using the whip but he kept whipping forward but not up to climb. So I was getting frustrated but I learnt that if you stand in the right position and the camera angle shows where you can latch on.Another thing that sucked was that I didn't know you could climb brick walls. That frustrated me! I was in this hole and I was like "man, I can't get out!!!!!" Then I read the walkthrough and it turns out that you can climb up brick walls. Go figure! Those are basically the only cons in the game. FOr Amazon's great price of $20, I think you'll be satisfied. It's on two CD's so it's a long game and worth your money! The game has never crashed on me and it runs smooth. This game makes Tomb Raider look like crap.

Indiana Jones and the Infernal Machine is the most favorite game of my whole childhood. I played this jewel of a game first time i was eleven years old, and I'am still playing it till today. The story of this adventure is amazing. From today's perspective, the graphic is no longer the best, 'cause the game is now about seventeen years old, but at time of release it was really quite good. Also the gameplay is very impressive, lot's of partially difficult puzzles are to solve, and the ingame showplaces convey a mystical feeling.I can really recommend the game to anybody, who want's to play mystical puzzle packed and classic adventures! The game is still playable on modern operating systems like windows 8.1 or windows 10.But you need an special fan made installer, cause the launcher is based on 16bit technology and will not run on 64bit operating systems. If you search on the web for the german title oft the game „Indiana Jones und der Turm von Babel“ and „64Bit installer“ you will find a german website called „replaying“, where you are able to download an fan made installer with it's assistance you will be able to install the game. The installer also contains the last official LucasArts Patch version 1.2 and additionally fanmade modifications, that will fix various bugs and increase the general stability. There is only, actually not fixable issue on the launcher, that you can not continue a game by the launcher, 'cause the launcher crashes. If you want to load a saved game, you have to start a new game everytime and load the saved state ingame via inventory menu or the qick load button F8.But up to Windows 8.1 x64 all funtions will work.If there will be any questions, do not hesitate to contact me via commentary function.

I love this game. If you liked Tomb Raider you'll like this game. There is more shooting but over all it's the same idea and graphics. I think the controls are OK. The acting is good and not cornie. I have an old low spec. computer and it loaded and runs fine. Most of the Indiana Jones games will not work on my computer as the requirements are too high. I suggest trying the demo's first, where ever possible, before buying anything. Save often just as with Laura Craft. The game is quite long and has lots of places to visit and do things in. I wish they had more games like this. If anyone knows of any please include them in your reviews.I like reading reviews that include peoples likes and dislikes about other games so that I may have an idea what game I might want next.(This part I added after the above review.)I got about half way through the game when I got to a part I was not able to get beyond. I most admit I'm 70 years old, retired and handycaped and I play games for the therapy. My eye/hand skills are not as good as a younger preson. I wish they would make some of these games that you have the option to get passed the harder objectives for those of us that really need to do that. It's not the first time this has happended to me and I hate it when I fine a really good game but cann't play more then half of it.

Just so you know you can actually install and play this game on newer computers without problems. On the bright side once you find a installer to put it on newer systems like Windows 8.1 and 10 it is perfectly playable. The game is basically a Indiana Jones Tomb Raider or at least it plays like such. The copy I received only cost me ten bucks altogether and it is easily playable even in its used condition. It's a decently lengthy game that has a great adventure to it and is possibly one of the best Indiana Jones games I have played.

One of my favorite games of all time. If you like Indiana Jones then you will like this game. Sure the graphics are not as good compared to today's games but it came out around 1999. Graphics are far better then any other game that came out around then. There are about 14 levels, each level is a big open world environment full of treasures, traps, bad guys, snakes, a bunch a whip able objects, everything that makes a great Indiana Jones game. By far the best Indiana Jones game ever made.

This is a fantastic game. It really captures the essence of the films. The whole of my family became addicted to this adventure. Every aspect of the production is top quality - graphics, sound, puzzles and action. The one disappointing aspect is the final level which is in some form of "alternative dimension" but all of the other levels are very good indeed including the bonus level which reprises (in fact is a sequel to) the early scenes of Raiders of the Lost Ark (in Peru).

What a game you will be blown away, with the scenrey & the locations. Each level is just brillant, lots of clever puzzles to solve & tresure to be found. You also get to use lots of diffrent types of guns, my favourite was the machine gun, a whip, machette, granades. The list goes on . And you get to swim in the sea & kill sharks, And on top of all this Indy never once loses his hat. Fantsatic buy it now..........

As adventure games go, this is a good one. The graphics are showing their age, but still reasonably effective. It's only failure is the mind bogglingly arbitrary sequences in certain parts of the game, such as having to press a particular button 3 times (and how are you supposed to know????), but with a little help it's great fun. It kept us up 'til after midnight regularly.

I have been playing this game for over ten years now and I cannot get enough of this game. It is without a doubt the best Indiana Jones game ever, the levels are long and full of puzzles and enemies left and right. The story is long and full of twists and turns.

Pretty crude graphics by today's standards, but 10 yrs ago when I bought this gameit was excellent. Spent many hrs with grandkid trying to figure out clues and winningsmall battles that would take us to the next level.

Just finished the demo - and if this is any indication of the final game - well the final game will be amazing! More robust than Tomb Raider and Indy branded - a total experience. A must purchase.

Great game played years ago. Unfortunately my computer is unable to play this game. Unfortunately, loved analytically solving the Indy puzzles.
