I live up in Northwestern Ontario and our winters can be quite cold and these gloves do a great job as an extra inner glove layer. Even though they are 98% wool, the fabric feels more like a cotton than a wool. They are not itchy at all. However, much like a cotton glove would be, the top and bottom of the hand on the gloves are sewn together leaving a small amount of excess fabric. This extra raw cut fabric can be a little irritating to the sensitive skin between the fingers. I am a female with about average sized hands and opted for the XS. They fit great in the fingers. Maybe a tad small but I think the size up would be too big. The gloves have a narrow band around the cuff that it necessary to keep the gloves in place.I have small wrists and the band does not bother me, but I can see how it could feel quite restricting if my wrists were any larger because the band is not stretchy. All and all a good glove, would have just preferred a glove that was constructed more like a sock , with no seams in the fingers but it does its job just fine.

Ordered these in medium since small wasn't available at the time, but I am in between sizes anyway. The gloves do feel a little too big, especially when trying to use a touch screen with the extra material on finger tips causing some issue. I will try to perhaps shrink them a bit though. I would suggest following IceBreaker's advice and if you are in between sizes choose whether looser or tighter fit is for you.Other than that they are pretty good and much better than alternatives that I've used before. Don't expect them to keep you warm on their own when it's below below 0C, though they hold up quite well. The grip rubber bits help quite a bit - as you'd expect the merino wool is rather smooth and would make it difficult to grab a hold of things on its own.At the same time the rubber bits aren't touch friendly so middle and ring finger won't work on touch screens.Overall I'm happy with the purchase. Have some other IceBreaker clothing so I'm hoping the quality/durability will be the same over time as I continue to use the gloves.

I purchased the Merino Quantum gloves to replace a pair of Icebreaker gloves I had worn through both thumbs over two years of steady use. These are slightly heavier than the pair I previously had, and great for driving and hiking. The silicone grip on the palms is an added bonus. No cell phone slippage so far.I ordered the extra small and they fit my hands, well, like a glove; but the wrist opening is very tight and has very little give, so getting them off and on quickly is a bit of a challenge (hence 4 stars). Otherwise, they are great. Just the right weight for my liking, and I will wear them as a liner when it gets really cold.I’m hopeful they will wear a little longer than the previous pair.I’m expecting they will since they are a little heavier than the previous pair. Fingers crossed.

Like the other reviews the fabric around the wrist is baggy, it’s less bothersome than it is just weird. I will have to find a way to sew them by hand. I like how the gloves are long enough for my fingers (I have long fingers in proportion to my smaller palms). All female gloves aren’t long enough for me and if you have similar issues you know how annoying it is for it even to be even 1/4 of an inch too short. But because of this they aren’t tight but it’s no huge issue.I wore them in -11 weather (which is a good day for Canada) and my hands were cold but not uncomfortably cold had I not had the gloves. Warmer than any thin gloves I’ve had,you will just obviously need a wind barrier mitten in colder/windier weather.

I bought these for running, and they are really doing a great job of keeping my hands warm! Today it was around 37 degrees and I was out for almost two hours. By the end, my hands were even sweating! You can see the moisture wicking happen--there were tiny droplets of water beading up everywhere on the gloves. I have pretty large hands and long fingers, so I ordered XL, and they are honestly a tiny bit too big, but not enough for me to trade down to the L--I'm afraid a smaller size would be too tight and not as warm. Also able to grab my phone and snap some pictures without having to take off the gloves, so that is great too! I'll probably use these as glove/mitten liners for really cold stuff too.Very nice product!

Highly Recommended. After my prior Northeast United States wool manufacturer closed, I was a bit concerned about where to find quality wool gloves and liners. The weave on the Icebreaker are far better, and wool thicker, despite both listing 260 gsm fabric weight. I would go through at least one pair of gloves per year, now three months in, mending holes along the way. I have yet to obtain a snag or a tear in these Icebreakers. The silicone palm is nice, -- but it is extra sticky, enough to wear playing professional football in frigid temperatures, but a bit too sticky for comfort on the automobile steering wheel; therein best exclusively on the backcountry ski pole. Thanks for producing!

These gloves are great! Lightweight but warm, functional, and perfect for every day. Maine winters get cold (and feel long!) and the Quantum gloves are an excellent choice for gloves-on-the-go.A lot of winter accessories can make me feel immobile and claustrophobic, but not these gloves. They allow excellent hand and finger mobility, are long enough to avoid a bare gap at the wrist, and the touchscreen tips are a must-have.I would absolutely recommend these, and in fact also bought my husband a pair. I could see myself buying more as gifts in the future, and even another pair (or two!) for myself to keep tucked away in strategic locations.

I bought this product as an inner liner for motorcycle gloves since my hands are getting cold very fast on spring and winter rides. I must say they do their job pretty well. Merino gloves are thin enough to fit inside my motorcycle gloves. They keep my hands dry and a lot warmer. Moreover I started using them on a daily basis as my casual gloves since they are soft, comfortable and good looking. I have no bigger issues in using them with my phone's touch screen. Maybe it doesn't feel like typing with a bare hand, but it's perfectly usable. Silicone pattern helps a lot for a solid grip.Already ordered a second pair for my pillion rider.

I haven't used these gloves in cold weather yet, as it's summer here, but I'm certain they will be excellent for average winter days in Alberta. They appear to be very durable, and the fingers have that feature where I can use my phone with them on! As well, I used the measurements from the site, and an XS fits me perfectly. They are slim fitting around the wrist though, so I have to maneuver a bit to get them over the widest part of my hand, but it's a very minor thing, considering that they fit my little hands perfectly! It's nice to have gloves that fit! I am certain I will have these gloves for years to come!

These merino wool gloves are awesome as a lightweight glove, but even better as a glove or mitten liner in cold northern winters. They are warm when damp, and I love them inside my mittens when nordic skiing, walking, snowshoeing, and driving! I cannot tolerate most wool against my skin, but these gloves are so soft and smooth that I love the way they feel! They wear out in a season or so if you wear them a lot like I do, but even so I keep buying them because they are worth it. They even let me use my touch screen phone without taking them off and freezing my fingers.

Had these gloves for about two months now. Sizing pretty true to size and a great fit. For runs and bike rides, they're great gloves for keeping you warm but not overly hot. Able to just pack them away and their lightweight as well. Only thing is that it did seem to pill but I'm not concerned. Had a small rip when I was trying to take them off and my heart dropped. I messaged icebreaker and got a super quick reply back! Have to give it to a company that really cares about their customers and their product. Will definitely recommend :)

My ski gloves that have their own liner were just not quite cutting it for some really cold winter days. Got these as the first layer for my hands when skiing before I put on my ski glove with its liner. This added the extra warmth I was looking for! Despite the slightly thicker merino wool, it still fit well in the glove and did not impact dexterity too much. I tried both the small and medium and opted for the small for a more snug fit (although it's slightly tighter around the wrist; no discomfort however)

I replaced my polyester gloves with these, my hands are warmer and the gloves are slightly longer to cover your wrists and allow you to tuck it into your sleeves for better coverage. The grip pattern works great so I won’t drop stuff or have them slide out. It works well with my phone too.Light and easier to fold up and stuff in your pocket.I haven’t tested these with snow yet, but I’m sure it will outperform my old pair. It should keep you warm even when wet, dries much faster.

We have several pairs of different merino gloves, mostly made by Icebreaker. The thinner ones seem to develop holes in one season so we are hoping the Quantum gloves, being thicker, will be more robust. Even though they are thicker we have worn them as liners when it is colder than -15 C and they are expected to be good for four season use when it is cooler in the day, or at night. The retail cost is a bit high so it was great that we purchased them on sale. The color blue is a bonus.

I love these gloves for cycling as they are grippy enough and you don't overheat and sweat in them like you do with synthetic winter cycling gloves. I am a woman with medium-sized hands and started my order with a medium unisex size, which I then had to downsize to a small, and then to an extra small to finally get the right size. I think if women approach them as being sized for men then they'll end up with the right size.
