Hoya's latest filters (2015) called 'Fusion' incorporate a special layer on top of their usual super-multi-coating to repel stains and make cleaning easier. It causes water to bead on the outer surface, and crucially greasy marks just wipe off. A great improvement over previous, rather unforgiving, multi-coatings. I've tried it and it works.Unlike 35mm film cameras, simple UV filters cutting out ultra-violet haze are not needed on modern sensor DSLRs, so do we really need them in the digital age? In the great debate, purists will correctly argue that any extra layer of glass will only degrade image quality, but out here in the real world filters are still essential protection from dust, sand, grit, salt, rain and greasy fingers. There is a greater difference in perceived technical quality between different f-stops or zoom settings on a decent lens than there is with a good multi-coated filter. The short answer is, I would rather have ascratch, chip, scrape, or other serious damage happen to a disposable filter than to an expensive front lens element.Read full review...

I have always used this make of filter (I can't mention the name as it seems it is considered a swear word!) for my camera lenses, generally their Pro 1 Digital or basic H MC ranges, and have always found them to be of a high quality - especially the Pro 1 range, but when I saw this Fusion Anti-static model for not much more than the Pro 1 I thought I'd give it a try on my new Olympus lens. After a fairly short period I've decided that it is well worth the extra few pounds for the anti-static feature alone as it just does not attract dust (and dog hairs) in the way other filters I've owned do. I am not sure how long the anti-static coating will last, and have no idea if the water and stain resistance will work as I've yet to use it outside in wet/adverse weather, but for the moment this Fusion Anti-static is my filter of choice. As always with this make of filters it is thin, light, optically clear (as near to perfect as I can tell) and works just as a UV filter should - and protects the lens from damage!Read full review...

I bought this earlier in the year at TPS in Birmingham, i paid way over what it is being offered for on Amazon atm (£27.79) so a little gutted about that.although the product is excellent and Hoya are renowned for making quality filters - which is essential as you spend hundreds on your lenses - obscuring the optics with cheap glass will undoubtedly leave a reduction in lens performance.buy this cheap before the price increases is what i say!!

I always protect my lenses with a filter. My choice is usually a UV, I find the Hoya filters do not appear to destroy the photo capture, even on high end lenses, and this is true of this filter. On a wide angle the thin sides do not interfere, not providing extra vignette, (this 82mm filter is on a 24-70mm lens). The quality and appearance are of a high standard, which I expect of a Hoya filters.

Lightweight low profile filter with precision mount. Easy to fit or remove (although it normally stays on to protect the front element of the lens). No vignetting on a FF 50mm lens, even at small apertures. Neutral colour rendition. The surface coating of the filter seems to repel moisture better than previous Hoya filters, and raindrops were easily removed without leaving streaks or marks.

Usual high quality UV filter from Hoya with the additional feature of an anti-static coating, plus water and stain resistance. The anti-static coating seems to work, attracting much less dust and fluff than my standard Hoya filter, but water droplets still cause stains in the rain, spray from fountains, waterfalls, etc.

I have tested a number of Hoya Fusion Antistatic filters (although this is my first UV) and have not found any degradation of image quality. Therefore, if you will be going to places where seaspray, for instance, can a problem, I wouldn't hesitate putting this filter even on expensive glass.

Very good product. Used extensively on holiday with great results. Just make sure that you take off any other filters as vignetting occurs on corners

Just what I needed to protect my new Canon 24mm pancake lens. 4 Stars only as I've not been able to test it yet, but I don't envisage any issues.

I like the fact that this filter is also anti static and so does not attract dust or other airborne particles. Stays on my camera all the time.

Added to a new Tamron lens for protection, which it does perfectly. Not much more to say really.
