When you have got to protect your lens, then this bit of kit does the job, it also doubles as a UV filter of course. Mine has lived on my Sigma 24-70mm f2.8 every-day lens since I bought it in Jan 2006.I have also looked at using the Circular Polarising filter, as there have been times whn shooting near water or through glass when this one could be the one.Definately worth the buy....and do it online it is so much cheaper than at Jessops!

I bought this for my FZ28, mainly to protect the lens. (UV filtering or haze removal have little effect on digital cameras.) It's not MC (multi-coated) but it seems fit for purpose, and at a great price. One thing puzzled me at first. It came in packaging which clearly said "Tokina", another Japanese lens-maker. I did an internet search and found that some Hoya lenses are distributed by Tokina outside Japan.

I decided to protect my Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ38 camera with a clear filter, and with the recommended Hoya 46mm Haze UV Filter I got the outdoor glare protection as well, which works. The filter fits tightly and the lens feels more secure and the flat surface is easier to clean than the curved, recessed camera lens.

The reason usually buy Hoya filters is because (and im pretty sure is)they supply the glass to the major camera brands ie Canon Nikon for use in their higher quality lenses. So by using one of these or other Hoya filters you are getting similar quality glass that is in top end lenses.

This Hoya filter absorbs ultraviolet rays without effecting visible light balance. UV light causes hazing and a blue hue in outdoor photographs. The filter can also be used as a permanent lens protector for the outer part of the lens . It fits very well .

Not tried out different makes but Hoya seem to be fine. Just need some clarity as to difference between (O) and (C) types, and whether more expensive filters from Hoya improve the picture in any way. So excellent product but no real guide to range.

I really like this filter, it came coated on both sides, which means that it has minimal flare when I point my lens towards bright light.I haven't noticed any drop in sharpness of the lens, nor any difficulty in cleaning.Very happy overall.

Top quality product as per usual from HOYA, the name says it all to be honest, quality build construction, quality fit and perfect clear free glass. All in all does what it says on the tin but you get what you pay for guys.

These are great - I use them basically as a lens protector. They don't interfere with the quality of shots in any way. Super value. - get one.
