This is an un-timed puzzle adventure game with many hidden object scenes. As it's the collector's edition it also has an integral strategy guide and bonus content.The artwork ranges from quite good to excellent and provides a sense of openness in that no area or room is too small or too crowded. There are some nice touches such as the chunky main screen, the metallic arrowhead cursor, the specimen jars for collected items, the clipboard and pen option screen and especially the animated eye. The opening cut scene is also particularly well done and almost of film quality.As with all games in this genre there is a lot of coming and going to collect objects to be used in other areas and some are quite obvious but others less so.The guide looks like an old 486 type computer screen with its green type and, although accurate, it's not as nice to look at as some of the guides in other games.All the hidden object scenes are excellent and although there's no real order to the placement of objects none of them are too small to see. Most are of a reasonable size and they are all clearly drawn but a lot are very well to extremely well hidden. The scenes are a pleasure to look at so I never got bored looking for things but, I have to admit, I did have to use the hint button a few times.The hints are reasonably accurate and are unlimited with a fast recharge time. There is also a notes button which acts like a journal but has something extra. It will also display the medical notes of the patients and you can toggle (with a toggle switch) between the notes and the records.There are a few mini games or puzzles and they vary in style, content and difficulty and all can be skipped if need be.There is a also good range of characters all with their own psychological problems which you have to solve to free them.Once all the levels are completed the extra content is unlocked and consists of an extra level and the usual artwork, music and concept art. I say `levels' instead of `game' as the story doesn't actually end even after the bonus level and I really look forward to its sequel.This game is fun to play and the artwork is top notch. It is also of a reasonable length being neither too short or too long. I don't hesitate in recommending it or in giving it a well deserved 5 stars.

I buy Big Fish/Focus games for the whole family and we have a lot of fun with them but "Haunted Halls" is by far the best we've played yet and I'd willingly give it more than a 5 star review. Graphics and audio are extremely good and the game is a doddle to install...put in the disc and it's done in minutes...simple. We play the game on a PC running Windows 7 and there are no problems. The story features a girl who has to rescue her boyfriend from a "Sanitorium" and, on the way, she travels in and out of the different cells rescuing patients who are being badly treated. The graphics are very, very creepy in places especially for younger people and that's why it has a 12 certification and it might be a good idea to bear that in mind.You've got everything you need to get through the game without having to go back onto the internet, there's a strategy guide, help button, adventure log and a very fast hint button that recharges in no time at all. Puzzles are fresh and different, can be tricky, and some of the object finding scenes are really hard and drove me bonkers. Excellent, creepy, lots of fun and plenty of different locations so that you don't get bored.

As hidden object games go this has a lot going for it; a really interesting storyline, for one, and a good setting. The hidden object screens are good and the objects not too easy to find but usually not too hard. It does lose a star because there is a glitch quite a long way on in the game where you cannot actually see one object on a screen and just have to click randomly till you hit the spot where it should be. I asked in the game forum and found this happens on the same screen in most games, but the object you can't find varies. It can be got around - use the hint and then just click slowly around that area till you get a response. The other puzzles vary from simple to quite hard.There are only four chapters but there is unlockable extra content in the Collector's edition which includes a bonus level. And it does last at least a couple of hours in the normal edition. The extra content also includes music and sheet music for the soundtrack, wallpapers, concept art, and screensavers.

Packed full of stuff to do with lots of hidden object scenes and a plot to follow. A bit grim with 12 people trapped in their cells enduring their worst phobias and who you have to free from their torment (although fear of a lost stamp collection made me smile) this game has lots to offer, there's plenty to do, and you need to think some to solve the problems. Bonus game at the end is also good and adds another 90 minutes to the playing time and leads on to the sequel game. I'm looking forward to Haunted Halls: Fears from Childhood Collectors edition when it becomes available on Amazon.

I am fairly new to the hidden object genre, and this is among the first I tried. The hidden object scenes are good if a little on the easy side. The adventure side of it is more challenging, as there are no hints available. On the plus side it does come with an intergrated strategy guide which i do admit to using a couple of times! The story is entertaining and held my interest, which isn't always the case with hidden object games. The graphics are good and overall it was a pleasure to play. The ending suggests there may be a sequel which I would definitely buy!

THIS IS A VERY GOOD CROSSOVER POINT & CLICK ADVENTURE/HIDDEN OBJECTS GAME. PLENTY TO DO OTHER THAN JUST LOOK FOR HIDDEN OBJECT. THE GAME IS A FAIR SIZE FOR A HIDDEN OBJECTS GAME AND WILL NOT BE BEATEN WITHIN A COUPLE OF HOURS LIKE SOME, INFACT THE EXTRA BONUS GAME IS AN HOUR+ WORTH OF PLAY. I LOVED IT, I ALSO LOADED IT ONTO MY SISTERS PC & SHE & HER DAUGHTER PLAYED IT TOGETHER BECOMMING QUITE ADDICTED. NOT OVER SPOOKY BUT HAS A FEW CREEPY BITS. PERSONAL RATING 9/10

Since I haven't played computer games in almost a decade, I didn't really know what to expect when I bought this one. Turns out it was one of the best purchases I've ever made. I loved the creepy atmosphere of Green Hills Sanitarium & the puzzles.

i enjoyed playing this game,the graphics were great and the storyline was very good,the only downside was the game only took me about 5 hours to finish it,i wish big fish games made them last longer,good value for the money.

this game was advertised as brand new sealed but I have purchased over a hundred weird fish games and never had one sealed like this one when I played the game there was a players name already on there

I liked this game very much, not too many hidden object puzzles and plenty of things to collect to use together or to use in another area.Makes you think and kept me hooked until the end.

Easy to install, mine was installed on windows 7 (64bit). The game was easy to play with good graphics, although some of the game were hard to solve. Overall, I recommend it.
