So, first thing, at the time of writing it would seem this game isn't available with english rules. But those are available online so you shouldn't be put off buying this (german) version. There is no writing on any of the game pieces (cards/tokens).The pack consists of 50 cards and 12 cardboard tokens. Which makes ten pounds feel like a lot of money! Unlike Gang of Four, which can be played by a filtered pack of Uno cards, I think this game probably requires this pack of cards (5/6 different suits). Hopefully, for everybody else, the price will come down. The game is a cooperative game where all players win together, loose together or land somewhere in the middle of those together. That makes it very different to anything else I've played (with the exception of Shadows over Camelot, which is very different for other reasons). Also, you don't look at your own cards-you show them to everybody else. So it feels a bit like that game where you work out what card is stuck to your forehead-but amplified. The game is fairly simple, and easy and quick enough to learn the rules.I haven't yet played it a lot, but to me it feels a bit like Cleudo. You are given clues as to your cards and use logic to make deductions. As this consists of a small box of cards and tokens it becomes an ideal game for the pub or campsite. You will need to develop an extended set of rules within your group on how much can be implied beyond the normal clues. This bit concerns me a little, as it could suggest a flaw in the game. However, I would trust the Spiel des Jahres award to suggest that it is a sound game system.

I love this little game and have played it with two, three and four players. While the dynamics change with different numbers of players I've enjoyed playing it with all numbers. Everyone I've played it with has enjoyed it.It's a great cooperative game and challenges your communication skills and memory. You don't see your own hand of cards but instead have to rely on clues given to you by the other players. While I've only played with with other adults, I imagine it would also be a good family game because you can adapt the amount of subtle hints you give depending on the easiness of game you want and everyone works together. While the aim is to get as many points as you can (max. 25 points)you can just aim to beat your last score rather than declaring the game a simple win or lose. I also really enjoy cooperative games. While the rules are simple, it's more challenging to do well at than it would first seem. Would highly recommend people try.I bought this German version and found an English translation off the internet. Because the cards don't have writing on it doesn't matter if you can't read German.

THIS GAME HAS GERMAN INSTRUCTIONS: That was fine for me, but might not be fine for you. The actual gameplay is number based, and no german knowledge is required once the (very simple) rules are known. With that having been said, what a fun little game. It is very easy to learn, not at all easy to master, and you can change how hard it is by adding in the included wilcards. The gameplay changes quite a bit as more players are added, and a good laugh is often had over mistakes when playing with a group. The game still feels fun with two, and the non-competitive, quite zen nature of this game makes it a perfect de-stresser between more competitive games.

Really enjoyed this little card game. The premise is simple, yet effective, in that you cant see your own hand but only other players. You then have to communicate this with strict clues so that they can play their cards correctly. Too many mistakes and its game over. OK, so the fireworks theme isn't particularly strong, more a mechanism for the game, but this is a really neat, easy to learn and quick to play little co-op game. This version comes with the additional "rainbow" colour and although the instructions are in German, a quick visit to BGG allows you to download english rules in PDF format. Brilliant fun for sub £10.

Fantastic game. Simple concept but so many variants that increase the complexity and allow the game to be played over and over and still be challenging.Have been playing the two player version pretty much every day since Christmas, working our way through the variants listed on the Hanabi Live forum.Lovely cards too.Things to note -There are nine clue tokens provided but only eight are needed for the game.Yes, the instructions are in German. You can easily get the English version online. You can also find academic papers online on the game theory of this fascinating game.

We bought this game to play with our *7 year old son*. The rules were easy to understand, we were playing the game 10 mins after opening. We found the game exciting and challenging. We love that there is a way, included, to make the game a bit more challenging. It took us about 35 mins to play a game, I am sure it will get quicker once we have played it a few times.*Our son does really well with playing games and can understand games such as Catan, Pandemic and Dead of Winter. I only say that so you know his level of gaming competence.*

If you're sat on a table seat opposite each other this game is perfect for a train. It's basically a co-op game where you have to build a series of decks of cards (your fireworks) but you can't see your own cards, but you can see everyone else's! You have to give clues on each turn to one player and hope they remember and build up a picture of what cards they have.Great fun, and an antidote to playing competitive board and card games once in a while!

Good game, especially for such a low price. Very interesting concept working together rather than trying to beat the people you are playing with. It means at the end of the game nobody is upset at losing! Our best so far is 19 points out of 25 after approximately 5 games, however, once you have achieved 25 I am not sure how much more attraction the game would have.Still good game for such a low price.

This is an absolutely superb co-op game. Rules straightforward...although in this version they come in German. You can download the English rules from Board Game Geek or other sites, so not a problem. This German version has a key advantage over the UK version in that it has symbols as well as colours, which is an absolute godsend if you have a colourblind player in the game. Would recommend!

Looking for a game which will make you truly believe your friends are idiots? This is it!A simple concept which makes a great, yet frustrating game! My friends and I enjoy playing this at the pub, but after a couple of drinks it only increases in difficulty! It has a lot of playability, but I'm not convinced it's really feasible for 2 players. It's best suited for 3-5 players for sure.

Simple game to play, but hard to get right. This version is better than the English version for the cards as the blues/greens and yellows/whites are easy to distinguish from each other even in low light (the English version I kept mixing the two up). If you require English rules you can fine them at BoardGameGeek here: http://boardgamegeek.com/files/thing/98778

A fantastic party game for four! With highly innovative game mechanics it will amaze you, and if you have a fun group of 4 to play, this can turn into the funniest game you've ever played, and which you cannot stop playing.I wouldn't play it with super-nerds who just want to stick to the rule-book (although the rulebook itself explicitly advises not to!)

Wonderful game. Really great for small groups, it gets better with 3 players or more but 2 can play. I would always suggest buying the German version. The rules are in German but you can get the English ones online. The German set has slightly nicer cards and tokens than the UK set. If you know a stoner give them this game. They will love it.

This is an excellent co-operative card game, instead of playing against each other you work as a team to complete the game. This is made even more difficult by the fact you aren't allowed to look at the cards in your own hand!Instructions are in German, but Google translate quickly solved that problem.

This is an excellent game that fits into a lot of niches. If you have a bunch of hard-core gamers round then this game will challenge them. If you have family around it will give them some good times. If you fancy a bit of light gaming to fill some time then this will do. Very replayable.
