Tantrix is a wonderful concept that manages to work equally well as a solo puzzle and as a 2-4 player game across all ages.The basic idea throughout is to make loops (or lines) of a specific colour. In a solo puzzle, it's using an increasing number of pieces to create a solution - it starts of simply enough but soon generates plenty of challenge. There are a couple of game styles described in the booklet - understanding 'gobbles' is pretty much the most complex thing .. and they are just holes with 3 pieces instead of 2!Game play can be fast-paced or leisurely, co-operative or competitive and as strategic or opportunistic as you want to make it. This is one of those games that once you start playing, one of you always ends up asking 'one more go?' to the other players. We had a family game of Tantrix Gobble and we all thoroughly enjoyed it. The time whizzed past without us realising.The concept itself is quite simple. You join up the coloured ropes on the tiles. If you can put in a tile which when placed down will have 3 surrounding tiles, then you can shout Gobble and give another player one of your tiles. When you get to the end of the game with only a few pieces left, it's really exciting.[...]I thoroughly recommend this game!

This is such a simple game to learn but is already spreading through the generations of our family, with our son having bought his own pack having played ours. This set is nicely made and the pouch is handy. The rules could be a little more complete but getting online helps fill in the gaps (confirming what we thought). The tiles have a nice weight and click as they are put down. Even patience is entertaining. One down side - your brain does feel like it might come out of your ears after a couple of games!

We bought this after playing it at my sister's house over Christmas and love it. There are lots of different ways of playing it but for the time being we are just trying to master the straightforward method. We are only at 9 but that has got tricky enough. Even my 3 year old has been playing it. Great to have something the whole family can join in with and good for testing the brain cells a bit.This has been a fun game to play with friends after a dinner party too.

First found this in New Zealand and brought some home, it was great fun at Christmas. Bought the bigger set and have just dragged it out to keep a 7 and 5 year old happy. Of course we made up our own rules but a grand time for all (even though the 5 year old kept pinching tiles to make up her own patterns). Great entertainment value and very well made.

Keeps the kids occupied for ages. They love just making patterns themselves. Will one day get round to playing it properly but they are only 5 and 7 so am happy to let them do what they want with it. Very handy carry bag which fits in my handbag so can take it to the pub for the kids.

Have played this game all over the world and it is always commented on. Sadly our old set was stolen so we just had to replace it. can thoroughly recommend it - it fits on bar size tables, great when travelling and doesn't mind being covered in sand.

What a brilliant game - on so many levels. A "strategic minded" 7 year old can play it, but also enjoys simply making patterns and setting self-challenges.And the adults played it every evening over Christmas.

fab tile set, really good quality. you can play several different games, which keeps it interesting and flexible for different abilities or timescales. also the case makes it good for taking on holiday.

Good game, good for the whole family and relatively easy to learn. It only takes about half an hour to play, and I love the fact that the tiles are tactile and made of a strong plastic so waterproof.

A real family game. So many levels to this puzzle.Just matching the coloured tiles is fun. If you want something more taxing, just try to complete the loops. Fiendish!

I first discovered Tantrix at a small market in Piccadilly London. I have since become addicted. This set is great fun, Lots of patterns to make.

Love this game so much - just brilliant. Have used it teaching children with challenging behaviour - good for patience, perseverance and maths

Chose this game to play with the grand children instead of those computer games. They really enjoy playing this game as I did also.
