I purchased this for my 21 month old son to help develop his hand eye co-ordination. Also, knowing he loves counters/money type objects this was going to be dual purchase toy. What I love about the Fun Buttons is the different number of holes each button may have and the different bright colours - I was thinking of the future with this purchase, to help my son learn counting and colours. Ultimately, this made me choose this item over the Cotton Reels which are also available by Galt. My son is a little too young and easily frustrated when he threads a button to then thread another - he can't quite get the concept yet to thread more than one, but will in time.At the moment he is happy to collect his counters and hand them out to everybody during role play. Not the most exciting toy, but great fun to help little one along with learning.

We bought this for my 20 month old daughter at Christmas. She received lots of gadgets or toys that made noises with lights etc but this was the only one that kept her the most occupied. The toy is simple - a shoe string with well made plastic buttons of different colours with different number of holes. At first she was more keen on playing with the box as it has a plastic handle and she called it a suitcase. Then she spent a long time trying to thread the buttons and we tied a knot at one end to keep them on the string. At nearly 2 yrs old she doesn't find the threading easy but she we can still play games involving counting, sorting, colours etc.4 weeks on and she still plays with them.

Bought these for my one year old and we both love them. They're great and I would definitely recommend as there are just so many ways to play with them. He loves them now as they're the perfect size for little hands but too big to choke on! He can chew on them, learn his colours, stack and thread them, they spin and roll and clank and move, they're great threaded on and good in a pile and small enough to be versatile so they can be slipped into a bag for a bit of entertainment 'on the move', would recommend - think these are great and will have a long shelf life too. Super product.

I chose 5 stars because although this item is a very simple idea, it is useful for many games. My two year old grandson uses them to stack into a tower. He is also sorting them into colour groups, groups by the number of holes and spends ages counting them. Threading them is helping with his skills and we have started using them to teach adding and taking away. Well worth the money and highly recommended. They are made by Galt which is a brand that most nurseries use because they are such good quality and are useful for many different games.

My 13 month old daughter loves these! The buttons are a good size so safe to play with, they are also really bright and colourful. My little girl loves to sort and stack so these are ideal, the handle on the top of the box is a good idea and my daughter uses it to carry the box to me when she wants to play with them. When she is older they will also be good to learn to count, etc.She has also been trying to thread them, which is improving her coordination, overall I am very pleased with this product and would definitely recommend them!

This is great little activity for young children. The colours and varying number of holes in the buttons allows lots of opportunity for educational play and of course the threading element is great for a child's dexterity. Really pleased with this purchase for our 2 year old who loves playing with it. Only slight drawback is that there is only one lace included in pack, adding an additional lace or two obviously is no big problem so still think it warrants 5 stars!

I have used these fun buttons before in pre-schools and reception classes and know they are great for playing with, are very tactile and create many learning opportunities.I recently bought some for my granddaughter but felt a bit disappointed as there were too few red buttons and too many of another colour which does mess up the matching, sorting and counting a bit as you can't count or make piles of ten with all the colours.Just an unlucky box I guess :(

My children loved these and I still give them as presents to toddlers. I throw away the thread, they have plenty of play value for sorting, matching colours, and stacking. They stack very well because of the serrated edges, so are perfect for counting. Also for times tables games with an adult, because you can make stacks of a particular number and then count the individual buttons. I bought more when they progressed to counting to 100.

Simple ideas are often the best, and this is certainly one of them. My 2.5 year old opened this on Christmas day and has gone back to it on numerous occasions since then to thread the buttons, stack them, sort them, count them, etc. It is very transportable and if a couple of pieces go missing it will still be as good, so for the price we are very happy indeed with it. To be highly recommended.

this product is good - i brought this for my three and a half year old to use as he is learning to count (adding and subtracting), other than using it for these purposes there isn't much you can do with the buttons except feeding it through the shoe lace provided.it's not a toy kids will be madly excited about - but a fun and practical way to teach your child to count!

Really nice quality and colours, different numbers of holes helps to develope motor skills. Also we learn colours with them and numbers, try sort them by this patterns. Good plastic and no smell. My 2.5 years old handles them really well. But!!! There is only one lace which is not really long. It’s not enough for playing with them in different ways.

Another christmas gift, cheap and cheerful, but has played with these nearly everyday since, so can honestly say they are a huge hit in our house. Big chunky buttons and a long string. The lace 'string' has not unravelled or shredded at all, and the chunky buttons are encouraging counting, colours, numbers and dexterity for play time. Big hit.

bought these for much two year old daughter to help with coordination which they have done. she enjoys threading and making patterns and stacking the buttons but they don't hold her interest for too long as limited amount of things can be done with them. overall a good learning toy that suits its purpose but that is all.

I bought theses as a travel toy for my toddler & they have been brilliant. They are compact for putting in hand luggage & quiet for a plane journey. We practiced colours & counting with them whilst also improving fine motor skill learning to thread the buttons onto the laces. Perfect toy for learning with

There is a lot more you can do with these other than lace them up. My granddaughters (age 3 & 6) use them as pretend money in their very own "Button Cafe", they can be used as pretend anythings really. Great for learning basic arithmetic, colours, hand/eye co-ordination and dexterity.Simple fun :~)
