Get ready to read a lengthy review, this highlights the main highs and lows of the game! This is a very good game, no doubts there; excellent graphics, highly realistic gameplay, huge selection of cars, excellent sound, massive customisation features.the major problem with this game is the lack of tracks, there just arent enough, and not enough of them are really good enough. there is suposedly about 30 different tracks, which is a lie. theres about 10 tracks, then about 10 varients of one really long boring difficult track, then aload of reversed versions of most of the tracks.fans of the previous game will be dissapointed with the loss of some of their favourite tracks,as well as the lack of new tracks - theres lots of tracks from the previous game, and only a handful of brand new ones, so not much new material for a new game.another annoyance is the lack of some of the newest and most up to date cars. theres plenty of cars in the game, but its annoying to find that theres lots of old ones, instead of the newer, better versions, e.g. the old shape honda civic type R instead of the brand new one, the koenigsegg cc instead of the newer much faster ccr or ccx, and many more examples.the car painting tools are good, and vastly improved from the previous game, but there are still flaws, one annoying one being that the positioning of graphics can wander slightly from where you origionally put them, most noticably when you spent time carefully centering a nice set of viper stripes on your car, only to find in-game that they are wonky for no reason. The online play is very good. for such a demanding game, the online quality is quite flawless with no lag (only when a players connection is bad) and vastly improved loading times for customised cars (the loading time for races is quite long). the only real problem with online racing is the terrible skill or attitude that some players tend to have (as in all games) very annoying to be doing a perfect race, to suddenly have some idiot smash into the back of your car for fun to ruin your race.I still do enjoy playing this game, but it has hardly provided the same replay value that the predecessor gave (many many months), as its just quite boring, repetitive, and frustrating now. i do occasionally give it a good go now and then, but i have found that i have returned to test drive unlimited!

I was a bit sceptical of this game's fun factor when i first played it but gave it time and now see the point of it.In terms of graphics, it is very good; much more realistic than PGR3 simply because the cars are not as excessively shiny. I play the game in 1080i HD format so it is very good. One thing that sets this apart from PGR3 is the realistic damage. On PGR3 (sorry to compare again but it's worth it) the damage consists of a few scrapes down the side of the car and a smashed door mirror. On FM 2 however, crumpled bonnets, shattered glass, detached bumpers and myriad kinds of mechanical/electrical failures are possible.Damage can be switched off but that ruins the fun! There is a wide range of cars featuring the top manufacturers and some less well known ones including Koenigsegg and Pagani. A few cars are locked until you win a specific trophy. The detail is brilliant on the cars and the engine noises are very accurate. The driving dynamics of the cars are realistic, even better than GT4 on PS2. It is possibly to get the cars to oversteer and spin in this unlike in GT4. PGR 3, however, is so unrealistic in that every time you go around a corner the car powerslides. There are several classes of car available including sporty hatchbacks, GT cars, sports coupés, supercars and race cars. It is possible to extensively upgrade the cars both aesthetically and mechanically. Also you can tune your car in a number of ways eg. downforce, power distribution, gear ratios and suspension. One thing worth noting is that when you acquire race cars in Career mode you aren't allowed to upgrade them, only tune. The Career mode is good, but not outstanding. The layout is acceptable but not as easy as having a map akin to GT4 to navigate around. In my opinion there aren't enough trophies and races on offer; even twice as many would probably be less than sufficient. The AI are pretty good but not unbeatable. On medium difficulty setting there is usually only one opponent who gives you a run for your money in a race. On this setting all you need to do is brake a little later than the opponent would for a corner and get on the power early and that is it.I haven't used the Xbox Live features yet so can't comment on that. Otherwise i feel this game is the most realistic and fun proper driving game on this platform so give it a try!

The car handling is best compared to the Gran Turismo series and I can honestly say that Forza 2 comes out on top. Not by much, but there is definitely a bit more "feel" in the cars when playing Forza 2. Also the damage model adds a welcome dose of realism when compared to Gran Turismo which obviously has none. Rumour circulated for a long time that the car manufacturers would not let Sony "damage" their cars in games which is why there was no damage model built into any Gran Turismo games. I recently saw a video on "you tube" by one of the developers of Forza 2 who said this was "total crap" and that once a games manufacturer has the car licence they can pretty much do with it whatever they want.Forza 2 is by no means perfect though. Some of the tracks feel a bit flat and a lot of them feel as if they are just tracks with the odd spectator stand built in random places around the circuit. Nott many of the circuits seem to have any real depth or character. When compared to "Toca race driver 3" on the PS2 I can't help feeling that the 360 is not really being pushed to the limits in the graphics department. It is also disappointing to see that all the races are in perfect conditions and there are no changes in the weather. It would have been fun trying to control a Ferrari Enzo in the pouring rain around Silverstone for example.Another problem is the way some of the tournaments are structured. A lot of them are three race series and rather than a points system, you need to win each race to win the tournament. For a game which prides itself on realism I can't think of any motor sport where you need to win every race rather than have the most points at the end of it.Little niggles aside this is an essential purchase for lovers of car games. There are so many races that you will literally be playing this for months. One word of warning, don't be tempted to pay the extra money for the limited edition. The book enclosed has interviews with the developers, some car/manufacturer history and driving tips. It doesn't tell you anything you couldn't easily find on the internet and the three extra cars are not really worth the extra money.

This is a real example of what a next-generation console can do. With the power of the 360, you get the racing and graphics hinted at in PS2 / Xbox games, but with a never-faltering framerate and of course more detailed visuals. The game's strongpoint is its physics engine; it is sublime. I've played some great PC sim racers, and this one on the 360 is right up there. It is incredibly realistic and satisfying to play. It's difficult (try turning off some or all of the assists) - but not annoyingly so. A 4WD Audi TT grips the tarmac as you'd imagine, whilst a 70's Porsche 911 is a delight to slide out the back end and regain control. Enemy AI is pretty good, and you are penalised for crashes which makes the racing far more tense than the PS / PS2 / PS3 GT series (which I have always really liked) - though I must admit I haven't worked out how exactly you are penalised, as the time penalties don't seem to be 'awarded'. Compared with the GT games, the handling / physics is perhaps even better, but the graphics aren't quite as good as GT5 Prologue, (or for example PGR4). However, they are realistic and do the job nicely, with superb cars, reflections, and decent tracks and scenery. I'm playing Forza 2 using a Logitech wheel, and it feels superb - just like my PS2 Logitech wheel. Read a few forums to choose between this and the Microsoft one.I recently needed a pre-1975 American muscle-car to enter an amateur series. I bought a '68 Pontiac GTO and entered the race without modifying anything (not even tyres). What a race! The feeling of weight was dramatic and really authentic, with the brakes and associated inertia incredibly accurate. You can't cheat the physics, if you break heavily at the wrong point in a turn, you'll just carry on and understeer, or slide and miss the apex. The whole feel of the races was really dramatic and tense, I'm now looking forward to `modding' this car and taking it out again. The feel was similar to the amazing GT Legends on PC, in which I loved racing big old Jaguars from the 60's.All in all, this is proper next-gen console racing, and as such has to be the best driving game I've ever played. Superb!

I think Jeremy Clarkson summed it up best on one of the Top Gear episodes, where he took a Honda NSX - R round the Mugen racing circuit, once on Forza Motorsport and then for real, to see how the two compared.Once on the Circuit, He realised that the only thing seperating the two times was the fact that when playing Forza, the user has no 'fear factor' and therefore, trying to match the time on Forza was impossible.Previous reviewers have moaned about the level of graphics on this game. however, when you consider the sheer amount of detail put in to this game you can see why they haven't put as much time into it. drivers physically change gear (you can see this) brake discs heat up on heavy use,and whilst in race you can keep tabs on not just tyre wear, but also tyre heat in order to ensure maximum grip. tuning your chosen car does require a degree of understanding about cars in itself - although you can physically feel the difference, and the consequences of getting it wrong. these are just a few of the details built in to the game. With 300 (ish) cars available to purchase or win, there is something for everyone, from the Ford Focus ST to the Pagani Zonda and every single car not only feels different when driving, but reacts differently to different situations, from cornering on rails (Pagani Zonda) to sliding about all over the place like the tyres were made out of Banana Skins (Shelby Cobra). This game is a true driving simulator like nothing else on the market. I suggest that if you're looking for graphics, you choose something like PGR or Need for Speed. A friend of mine tried Forza Motorsport 2 after completing the latest need for speed, and failed to finish a lap after 10 minutes. Donuting all over the place, he eventually gave up, proclaiming it as 'a heap of crap'. I just hope he doesn't ever get hold of a driving licence.I personally hope that they bring out Forza 3, as quickly as possible, to save me from buying some other 'all action, all graphics' heap of fiction other people call a 'racing game'.

ive played a few 360 games now, there are some good titles and some bad titles, quite a lot of bad titles in fact. But then there are some awesome ones. If you have played gran tourismo for the playstation before then you will be familiar with a simulationj driving game, this si where the car you chose to drive is simulated into the game, the handling, performance and characteristics of the car are the same in the game as they should be if driving the car in real life. This means that if you are a fan of burnout, ridge racer or other arcade racing games and you approach the first corner of the first race at 130mph and expect to make it round in one pice without braking, think again! This game has many similarities to gran tourismo, the cars are very similar and the modding of them to improve performance handling and body shpes/styles colour are all there. There are differences though, in forza if you crash your car will take damage, meaning that if you skid off into a wall at 100mph it is likely you wont finish the race, although you can opt to turn damage off. You can select from more supercars inforze (as wel as countless more standars cars and even race cars), ferrari, lamborghini, konisnsegerseigisegiegg or whatever the hell they are, pagani, porsche, saleen etc....The game AI difficulty can be adjusted meaning if you are a beginner or expert to these sorts of games then there is still a challenge for you. Online this game really does come alive. You can race for money, enter organised tournaments even modify and auction your cars off for big money. Basically, if you like cars, or if you like racing games GET THIS GAME, it is seriously sweet. Then get online and start racing!!!

With over 300 cars, over 300 races in Career Mode and God-knows how many tracks to race on, `Forza 2' is the complete package for any fan of the racing game genre. In Career Mode, you choose one of about 8 cars to start you off and then enter yourself in series of events to earn more money to buy new cars or to upgrade other cars in your garage. When you complete an event, which tends to be built up of 3 races, you win a new car which generally will allow you to enter another event with the particular car specifications. You also have player and car levels that you build up with the more money you earn, allowing you to also enter the higher up cups and events.Overall there are about 300 races in total to complete the Career Mode as well as the Arcade Mode where you can test drive any car to unlock more cars in Career Mode. Then there is also Multiplayer Mode where you can battle friends on Xbox Live or split-screen head-to-head.So there is a lot of content on this game to interest single players, online players and two players, car modding nuts and speed junkies and basically anyone else who likes racing games.Crashes into other cars and the sides damage your car, so this game really does feel realistic (even more so than the GT games) and can also prove quite difficult in longer races, where entering the pits is essential. The graphics are top quality too - some of the best on the 360 and the soundtrack is not too bad, with appearances from artists like The Chemicial Bros, The Prodigy, Apollo 440 and Faithless among many others.`Forza Motorsport 2' is the next-best thing to having Gran Turismo on the Xbox 360.

This is the game i've spent the majority of my time on because: The graphics are stunning, the cars are so shiny and real.. until you midjudge a turn, crash and parts fly off and glass shatters and your engine dies, The driving physics and crash physics are truly unmatched. You have to try to follow the proper driving line on each turn or you will either spin out or smash into something at 200 mph. There are 100's of lovely cars to buy and also 100's of races and championships to enter and win credits from to spend on buying better parts for your pride and joy. It is amazing how fun it is to start with a bog standard class D mini cooper S and , with about 50,000CR, turn it into a 400HP super car that sounds like a tank. The customisability on this game is huge. And the auction house is very addictive, Selling and buying cars from other players. It is a bit like a cross between; Midnight racing club (for the customisability) and Gran turismo (Because of the amazing realisticity of the driving). I also liked the fact that fine tuning your car really can change its ability massively, It will perform much better if you know what you are doing... or it will fail epically if you don't, but, it does give a clear, in depth explanation of what each area of fine tuning you are changing does and what to change to get the results you want. All in all this game is incredible the only down point is that it takes a long time, loads of money and a very high driver skill level to unlock the amazing Zonds F's, Koenigsegg's and the R1 class hypercars.

It adopts features that made Gran Turrismo great and expands upon them. There's a huge collection of cars to win & buy, and there's no shortage of race events. The exhibition & time trial modes are also fun with further cars to unlock. The dynamic leaderboards are a nice feature providing easy comparisons with friend's lap times etc. The decal editor is also good. Not as good, in my opinion as NFS & Juiced 2, but then, its not supposed to be a `street' game. It would be nice to see some more varied decals though. The online interface is fairly dated with matchmaking difficult to workout at first. There's still a health population of online racers though given this game's age, which is good. The only significant failing I can find with this game is that towards the middle of career mode, the races becoming more about the car & tuning, than they do about the driver's skill. Some events can only be won by one car, tuned in a certain way. Sure, you can vary the difficulty settings to provide a more challenging race, but I've found that there is too much difference between them. I can either win by a lap in `easy'. Be beaten by half a lap in `medium', and be spanked in `hard', depending on car of course. Overall, a great title, and still one of the very best driving sims out there despite recent additions to the gene pool. A must buy for anyone who enjoys racing games.

I've downloaded the demo from Xbox live and it is awesome. You can choose from a wide range of cars in the demo and each one has its own character. You can easily win with the driving aids on and the game is fun enough but its when you switch them off this game becomes fun. Using a steering wheel and pedals you have to be so precise to get your car round the corners but if you do nail it, it feels so rewarding. The difference between front wheel drive, 4WD and rear wheel drive is perfectly done and the physics feel very good overall.Applying the power round a corner is great because a bit too much and you'll go into a top gear powerslide, not enough and the incredible AI will blast past you. This game has a brand new AI system never used on any other racing game and it is awesome. The AI cars will move to the inside to try and block you and will even give you a nudge if your slowing them down. Its by far the best AI I've ever seen and makes the game more fun than any other I've played. The full game promises a ton of features, 300 cars, massive online play, trading cars online, car customisation, if you like cars you'll love this game!

I'll keep this short.Pros:- Great handling: You can really *drive* these cars and the way they respond is spot on- Good depth: Plenty of races to keep you challenged- Good graphics: Not "fall out of your chair" brilliant but good enough to make the game immersive- Choose your own level: Forza 2 isn't a game to play with the default options set. You need to upgrade your car and set the assists appropriately to ensure you get a good close race.Cons:- Static weather: the sun is always shining in Forza 2. There's no rain, no snow, just constant sunshine- No night driving: It's always bright daylight in this game- No really exciting tracks: I know this is a "serious" game but a few fun trackswouldn't have gone amiss- Limited range of competitions: Generally it's just an endless set of three race tournaments. Some more interesting race types would have been welcomeOverall:I love racing games so this is automatically a good game for me. If racing games aren't your thing however you may find it a little staid.

Awsome graphics and very realistic racing. Should anyone feel intimidated about playing a game that - like many driving sims - could take a liftime to complete, don't worry. There is a novice mode that creates a nice line to follow around the course showing the best way to take the bend, when to use the brakes and build speed. Also, there is a neat arcade version, you can rip about in a McClaren or Jag and not worry about winning credits.A hard-core racing fan can set the difficulty to maximum and have an incredible time tweeking the mechanics of the vehicle. All levels of ability can have fun by spray painting and tinting the colour of the cars - check out the web for some of the cool designs people have created. The controls are nice and comfy, there isn't many options for the camera position though - one minor fault with the game. All in all this is the 360's finest racer and probably one of the best racers ever. But, it doesn't quite match up to Gran Turismo - so close though.

I got my copy of the game on the 6th June, luckily a shop near to me got it in a bit early. So far i have completed the first league of racing and i can say, although im in the " not so fast " cars it is brilliant fun. The handling is very realistic, the graphics are brilliant eye candy and what makes it even better is the damage.I havent really gone into the Auction House yet to sell/buy cars from other players online, but i have tried out the " Gift Car" feature, which allows players to give cars to one another if they are your xbox live friends. The customisation of the cars is great too, body kits, decals, vinyls can all be added to make your car unique. The paint schemes are also very good, with metallic, pearlescent and manufacturers colours. This is a very good racing simulation and will keep on being a brilliant game for years, one of the best racing games i have ever played.A definite must buy for any racing fan, give your XBox something nice to play!

ok ay this is the xbox version of grand turismo (ps consoles) almost identical to each other but forza has added stuff that makes it nicer such as customizable cars and a more indepth arcade mode this game is anally retentive but in a good way i mean ure contantly doing sililar to or identical races but u like it and ure competative nature soon soars out of ure body as ure screaming at the television to get that computerised car to get out of they as if it will actually makea difference. a nice featurethis game has is this racing line thing which shows u the optimisedline of the race telling u when to brake and speed up and so on but this is not 100% great as the time attack modes will provesometimes its better to adjuust and play ure own line i shaves 5 seconds of nearly all my time attacs with my own lines but any way this is a good game that u will enjoy if u have betrayed sony and lloking for that hit of close to the bone racing simulation

I was feeling rather unsure about buying this game, having downloaded the demo from XBOX live. The demo seemed almost impossible to play. The graphics and speed of the demo were slow and the computer controlled opponents are extremely hard to beat. I was rather put off, but I thought I will take a risk and buy the full game, hoping that the level set in the demo was hard and that by owning the full game you would be able to pick better cars and tune them. AM I glad I did buy the full game. The gameplay is much better, and it allows part time gamers like me, and beginners to get into the game slowly and once you get some credits into your bank, you can buy upgrades and the game begins to get easier.Beware though, buy the wrong car (a slow one) and the competition will leave you standing.Overall then, its a great game and one that is worth sticking with.
