I am very pleased with this audio interface. Sound quality is superb and its appearance is visually stylish. Internal routing from the inputs to outputs is very flexible and powerful and is managed via the software Focusrite Control. A number of presets are provided to help get you started. The 6i6 2nd Generation software Focusrite Control is much simpler to use than the Generation 1 Scarlett MixControl software. The device comes with lots of free audio software, including a limited version of Ableton Live and Pro Tools.Latency (the time delay between pressing a keyboard key and hearing the sound in the computer monitors) is very low when using this device. This makes recording a second track in a DAW while monitoring an already recorded first track much easier.Drivers are available for Windows 7/8/10 and MacOS. it also works in Linux: while Focusrite does not provide drivers for Linux, the 6i6 interface is class compliant and the Linux kernels have built in support for it so that it "just works" at first boot up. I managed to get it working successfully with Ubuntu Studio 18.04 and its Ubuntu Studio Controls software.I have so far not found a Linux replacement for the Focusrite Control software. The workaround is to set up the desired internal routing in Windows or Mac. The device then "remembers" these settings and they are retained when the device is subsequently connected to a Linux computer. I found that using the device's default internal routing settings works fine for recording in my DAW.I hope in the future that Focusrite will cooperate more with the Linux community to provide a version of Focusrite Control for this platform so that this workaround is not necessary. People should be allowed to choose their own platform.Focusrite has excellent and very professional tech support: the website for example has a chat app that enables you to talk directly with tech support staff.I highly recommend this audio interface.

Fantastic interface, great features, flat response. The option to add eight channels with an octopre is very nice for the long run (especially as focusrite have just released the matching scarlett octopre).Slight downside is that the preamps can sound quite clinical...that's not always bad, they're just very clear, if a little bright. Compared with the rednet pres, they're pretty similar - although they're maybe a bit harsher (and only have 50dB of gain vs. rednet's 63dB...that extra headroom is often useful - on the scarlett I have to really crank my ribbon mic, meaning I probably couldn't use it as a room mic - although the pres are very low noise, even towards the top end of the gain range).Would definitely recommend this over the presonus 44vsl, as this doesn't colour the sound as much, and can be easily upgraded to twelve channels using ADAT (at 48kHz).This second gen can record all four channels at 192kHz, which is often overkill. Unfortunately, due to there only being one optical out, if you had a scarlett or clarett octopre, and wanted to record at 192kHz, you could only use a total of six channels (eight at 96kHz, twelve at 48kHz).Not sure if it's worth the extra cash vs.the 1st gen, but with the new drivers and nice new aesthetics, I'm glad I got the 2nd gen.

I bought this to replace a first generation 2i2,which suffered problems with my guitar output level. Focusrite have cracked that problem and made another good sounding, well built interface at a good price. Having the pads and midi inputs are a bonus on the 2i4 and the input/output blend control is an improvement on the old switch. However, I was tearing my hair out when I first got it as there was no sound from either the speakers or headphone outputs. I had followed the installation instructions faithfully and had the monitor blend controls and source switches in the right place. The device appeared to be installed fine but no sound at all.Restarting again made no difference either.I looked online and could see quite a few people reporting the same issue but no solution anywhere. I made a support request to Focusrite but it was 3 long days before I got a reply and that was just to make sure the controls were in the right place (they were).HOWEVER, In the meantime at the beginning of day 3 I switched on my PC in the morning and magically, I had sound. As far as I know nothing had changed but it has been fine since (2 weeks). So if you find your Scarlett is stubbornly silent, maybe turning the machine on an off a few times will cure it....

Basically I bought this because I wanted better sound and lower latency. I Decided on the 6i6 2nd Gen as I needed more than 2 inputs and, also, with the 2 phone outs plus 2 sets of main outs, I was able to retire my old headphone mixer. The sound is pristine and, somehow, it has totally eradicated my very nasty ground loop whine which is a huge bonus in itself. Also, my latency buffer now sits comfortably at 128 samples instead of the 512 it was before with my Behringer usb mixer. What I did not expect, however, was the huge software bundle that came with it, including some excellent Softube plugins that add up to more than the amount I spent on the unit! I really have been blown away by this one,for me it's transformed my little home studio.

I spent a great deal of time and effort looking at many different interfaces, but all kept bringing me back to this incredible piece of Studio equipment, absolutely brilliant quality, and once you get the hang of how to use it and what all the nobs and switches are for, it makes home Studio recording a complete pleasure, l really look forward to standing in front of my Rode microphone and singing many Elvis ballads, and there are no special buttons to press to make you sound any better than you are, so it gives a true and accurate result for what you put in and how you use the equipment, and a very good price as well. 1st class product from Focusrite.VinceNottingham

Rock solid performance in Windows 10 and Bandlab Cakewalk.I notice a difference straight away with the preamps and headphone out over my ageing 1820m.Driver setup is a breeze, little bit of a schmoz setting up the outputs so I wasn't hearing input and daw monitoring so I had to do a bit of research and found the focusrite forms to be the best source of info.As far as installation goes.Out the box.Plug in the powerDownload the drivers.Plugin the USB cable.Done.I haven't had a chance to use the Red suite of plugins yet so cant comment of those. It also looks teriffic and is reassuringly solidly constructed.

This is my first foray into setting up home recording in the modern era (4 track tape recorder was the budget option when I was a youth). This is very easy to use with simple PC setup, level setting and source/monitor balance. The free DAW and multiple other download options are great. Mostly for guitar and microphone inputs but I went for the MIDI option in case I want to input any compatible equipment. The most tedious aspect was downloading and setting up the DAW software but I’m now up and running seamlessly. Highly recommended.

Swapped to this from a M-Audio firewire that has worked without a glitch for years. so far everything seems to be working perfectly. The set up was easy, including going through the motions of the online Focusrite registration and free software downloads. The sound quality is excellent and all the switches and dials feel pretty good. The only downside I have encountered so far is its tendency to occasionally need a restart (the interface not the computer) if windows goes into sleep mode. Will update on how it progresses.

I use in my home studio. One thing I'm particularly impressed about is that I can plug an electric guitar straight in and get a very usable sound (without any plug-in amps etc) with seemingly no latency at all!

Surprisingly transparent preamps, simple and intuitive interface. Lots of headroom and great I/O options! Have been using it for all my studio projects, would only change to a USB mixing desk for Live work.

The 18i20 represents great value - the preamps are of nice quality, it offers a useful amount of IO, and is well made. It's the best audio interface I've tried in this price bracket.

I had access to a 1st Generation before I bought my own and the software is much better in this one (Windows). Latency is really low too! I'm really happy with this product.

Excellent, used in conjunction with 2 Audio Technica 2050's for podcasting and has improved the sound quality no end. Easy to set up and use, highly recommended.

Previously used a Saffire Pro 24 DSP with Mix Control software, this is much easier to set up and understand no headaches so far.

Has been great for our podcast, it is durable and easy to take on the road. Super easy to set up.
