This is a premium product for a very specific purpose. As such "value for money" isn't really relevant. But, if you want to capture up to 4K @60 FPS, from a games console, Bridge/DSLR camera, or intercept and/or pass through any HDMI display, this card is perfect. For PC build space consideration: this card's dimensions are roughly early iphone sized(in credit cards? 1x1 and a 3rd, with a depth of 10mm(yeah I know, I don't have enough credit cards for depth lol), minus PCI-E connector and rear PCI-IO plate. In other words, it's pretty small. The build quality reflects it's price, and at no point would I say the have cut costs. Aesthetically resembles the offspring of 2 SLI'd GPUs (when Mummy & Daddy GPU really love each other.....).It's looks even extend to it's stylish black PCB.Let's face it these are a currently a default purchase for any streamer/Youtuber, who wants to capture lossless footage: and that would be Elgato's target market. Well, its for any streamer that wants to do a little more than ASMR streams(ladies, fear not. It will do those too. Well, the "quality" camera side of your "content" at least). Are there higher-end capture cards? Sure, but A, what site can handle more than 4K @60fps bandwidth, and B, who's PC hardware can currently exceed that by more than a few dozen fps? C, if your hardware can support more then you are a pro, with an exceedingly specific purpose in mind and a high-end card would be better for you. It's software? It works-ish. But, I can't think of a single scenario where you would use a very basic "cut-and-splice" video editing program, when so many vastly superior free or cheap solutions exist. As to streaming, it's driver software(yep, still comes on a DVD, but can be DL'd from Elgato's site) makes it available to all newer versions of OBS or Streamlabs.I have hopefully answered some of the questions you may have, based on the the questions I had to research when I wanted to stream decent quality game footage, or connecting my Lumix FZ-2200 Bridge camera(FZ-2500 in the US) to OBS as a webcam. My verdict? The Elgato 4K60 Pro is a great piece of kit, so is the AVermedia "Live Gamer" equivalent. They're both PCI-E internal capture cards that will do the same job. The AVermedia has some RGB lighting(if you want to light your PSU shroud or slightly illuminate the bottom of your case for some reason), but for me, I much prefer the small sleek Elgato. I would highly recommend it. No, I'm not sponsored by Elgato, although.... if they're listening....

One of the only questions I had about this product before ordering is whether it would report as a webcam automatically for the usual web conferencing platforms. It was difficult to find this information from the product literature so I had to take a risk based on a few Amazon reviews and Reddit threads. Thankfully it does!So in review, how am I finding using an EXTREMELY expensive (£500+) webcam? For me it's ideal. Thanks to the pandemic regular £85 quality webcams are either out of stock or double their RRP. Despite this being an expensive route to a webcam, I already had a Sony a5100 a dummy battery and a HDMI lead. I just wasn't using these as often as I once did.The Elgato HD60s+ was just the final piece in a very expensive puzzle to get a webcam without being extorted (pricespy indicated it was at regular price apart from occasional reductions of £10). Obviously there is no webcam on the market that can surpass the image quality of a large DSLR sensor and the low light recording is much better too. Further to this, the bokeh effect from a 20mm lens at f2.0 is a look no webcam could replicate, although I'm sure the kit lens still looks good too. For just web conferencing, this is pure overkill, but this would be a regular setup for a blogger or game streamer. For me, I felt more comfortable paying £189.99 for this setup than £179.99 for a £85rrp webcam. However, I had the remaining kit to make it operational

Bought the HD60 S version because I wanted to stream me playing my Nintendo Switch for uploading to YouTube. I figured that as the S model was USB 3.0 then it may be able to handle live streaming alot better without the lag. It does work great in this regard for recording my Switch, but alas, while the software has the capability to overlay the facecam over the video, it doesn't handle simultaneous face cam so well with this model. (you start getting alot of audio lag when done this way). Not an issue, as I will mostly be recording the facecam separately and editing it over the main video afterwards anyway, but just keep this in mind if you had intended to use it for live game capture and face cam simultaneously.(only the Pro model of the elgato handles both of those video streams simultaneously like that), but unfortunately the Pro model will only work on a desktop PC (due to it being a PCIe card as the way it connects to your computer), so the HD60 S is the best of the models you'll be able to use if you're doing this from a laptop like I am. It's a wonderful device though, and really easy to use, so I'm not knocking off any stars for this. It works great so long as you're aware of the limitations between the two connection methods, and you'll be fine as you know how to get the best out of them. (but yes, for the HD60 S model, just record your game capture and facecam separately, and the quality is perfect!) ;)

Very pleased with this little black box.. I had two aims for this device The first was to record an HDMI output from a satellite TV system. The second was to record an upscaled composite video output to HDMI from my old VCR. Extra items of kit I used in this endeavour were an HDMI Splitter and a Vdeo Upscaler - composite video to HDMI.. I have managed to get good results in both cases. I recorded the Elgato output using a USB 3 input on my top of the range 2013 Macbook Pro running Mac OSx Sierra (latest update. as at mid June 2017). What a sight for sore eyes when I saw the results comimg through via the splendid software which I had previously installed on the laptop. So far so ggod- -- hope I am as singularly impressed after generally playing around with this gadget . Such good fun - maybe a trifle expensive but generally you get in this world what you pay for! Thank you muchly.

Brought the "Elgato HD60 S" and I was blown away, right out the package setup is super fast and simple. The design is sleek and small, perfect to take along with you to gaming events or to your friends house to record some co-op gameplay.I live stream and record with this and the quality is absolutely stunning, it's hard to describe how good the quality actually is, it goes up to 1080p 60FPS but if you don't want that it does go 1080p without the 60fps if neededNow on to the software: When connected to elgato's "Game Capture HD" (free to download from their website) the latency is 0, you could play from your monitor or laptop with out any video feedback delay.TL;DRAmazing product that records/livestreams your gameplay in superb quality, small enough to take with you anywhere you might need it.(If you found this helpful I'd appreciate it if you click "Yes")

I have been using this for over a year. It was bought as a present for my daughter who used it for game reviews (PS4/Xbox etc.)but when I saw it in operation I was blown away by how good it was. Since then I have used it for recording finishes on rowing regattas. My setup includes a Panasonic full HD camcorder, the HD60s connected to a Macbook pro. The beauty is that you can review the finish of a race while the camera and recording is going on uninterrupted. The only fly in the ointment was every so often the software need to be restarted which is why I did that after each race to ensure I had no issues. Since then they have updated the firmware plus software so I hope this has now also been addressed.Overall really more than happy with this solution.

Before this I had purchased the Razor Ripsaw...I wish I had bought this one first!! The RR was a waste of money as I could never use the full settings that were advertised (1080p etc) however this beauty does everything and more! It even allows you the option to adjust consoles so it knows which settings to use for sound/picture quality. I currently use mine to stream PS4 and Nintendo Switch, both super easy to change between. Elgato really is 'plug in and use', the simplicity should be advertised more!! RR says its simple (an utter lie) but the elgato HD60S truly is and should be considered far more advanced and user friendly than the RR.I use mine with OBS/streamlabs OBS and couldn't be happier!

This device was much more easy to setup than I originally thought, it works fantastically in a dual pc streaming and recording setup, and hoping to start using it soon. The fact that only 2 or 3 cables (depending If output is required) are being used, is great meaning there isn't so much mess (cables) lying around. Getting game/pc audio at first was tricky to record, but after messing around with some settings got it to work after 5 or so minutes. Using the software Streamlabs OBS is personally a better software to use than elgatos own software, as it allows for more customization is streams and recordings, but that Is a personal preference. Overall an amazing product for the price.

After being hesitant about buying an elgato as i have read reviews that a lot of people had problems with setting up i finally decided to order one. I chose the Elgato HD60 SArrived on-time, packed nice and instructions where clear, after watching a YouTube video or 2 on how to plug it into my switch and get the imagery onto OBS Studio and also my second monitor (as i don't want to use my OBS for the game play screen) i was pretty much ready to go, just slight adjustments for quality of the video and that was all i had to do.The elgato picked up my switch as soon as it was plugged in.Deffo recommened this product.

I personally bought this for capturing video from my Nintendo switch, I can say this now that the price definitely pays off, if you use it consistently. I'm safe to assume this would have no other problems with other consoles being hooked up to it, and has plenty of default settings for many different consoles. It is easy to use, simple to set up (assuming you know the basics about adding or changing computer hardware)With the drivers installed it really is plug and play. Also I was not made aware of it before hand, but this also comes with a low profile PCIE bracket for the thinner Computers.

This was installed in a "streaming" PC as part of a two PC setup. The ability to passthrough high refresh rates was perfect when cloning the monitor on the "gaming" PC. Being able to access the video feed in multiple applications simultaneously, is also fantastic if you are looking to record and stream a the same time.Installation is really simple, but be mindful of airflow when positioning it next to other components. These cards get incredibly hot, but have no onboard cooling. Adequate airflow is a must, not just to keep the card cool, but also to manage the excess heat inside the case.

I Will keep this simple.1. Rip off... Super expensive does not need to be this price.2. Works better than any other I bought.3. Plug in and it just works no driver install or anything.4. The 4K Application which is part of ELgato which you can download works amazingly.5. Presents as a source in OBS Studio no issues.6. Supports 4k Footage and works with my SOny A6400.Does it work? YES! Any HDMI Input.Do I NEED IT NOW? - Don't buy it at this price point wait until Corona is over maybe if you can as £180 is far too much.

This product is amazing for those looking to get 1080p60fps quality recording of video games with having a PC. Only thing required for this is the device, hdmi ports, a console and a laptop/computer that has USB 3.0.I've been using this for around two weeks now and haven't face any problems with the recording or the device. It has a Solid bulid in such a small form factor. If you're looking to start a gaming channel or want to stream online then this is the device you'd want to get!My test video: [...]

**You will need a free PCI-e slot to run this card, NOT a PCIexpress**Great product if you stream your Xbox games and want a better quality stream. The 4k60Pro eliminates the need to switch cables around all the time, preventing damage to the hdmi ports. I have a 1440p monitor, after some tinkering with the PC software downloaded from Elgato’s website, I was able to get the downgraded 4K feed from the Xbox. I’ve bought a few Elgato products now and the quality is always top notch. Great product!

A very nice device which brings your capturing into the HD age. I'm using this to stream from an HD camera for studio streaming. Of course many will use it for gaming. The device is easy to set up and is very robust and does not feel cheap. I needed more of these to complete my multi-camera studio set up, but I was blocked from purchasing any more of them. I managed to get them from somewhere else. The device is pricey at over £150, but it works incredibly well. Highly recommended.
