FYI - I bought this for £180 in Feb 2020)For a 2PC stream/capture set up, this is great. Pretty much the Elagto 4k60 Pro Mk2's competitor. Before going further, remember that it is YOUR reponsibility to check your PC can run this. You'll need a mid-tier PC to be able to encode decently anyway - don't expect to run this on any old thing. It is a PCIE card, and you'll need a free x16 or x4 slot on your motherboard.Installation:Pretty easy - Mine slotted into the x16 slot on my motherboard just fine, but it was a tight squeeze under my GPU! Then you just fasten it to the exterior of your case.Connect your PC/Console/Video device to the left slot, and use the optional pass-through to connect to your display if needed (this is mainly for consoles or monitors without DisplayPort). (I connect my gaming PC to my monitor via DP, and to the capture card via HDMI, so I don't use the passthrough slot.) Set your Windows/NVIDIA control panel to duplicate you display to the capture card. Then you just download the software form Avermedia's site. Use the ReCentral software to program the RGB as well as the encoding settings. You can then use ReCentral or other software such as OBS, to capture gameplay.FunctionalityModes: 4k up to 60Hz, 1440p up to 144Hz, 1080p up to 240Hz. You can record at 60fps whilst playing at up to 240!Supports HDR if you use thatCan go way over 100k bitrate if you want (though.. why?!)RGB lighting can be changed in ReCental, but it seems like an afterthought - it's not really customisable - can't even just change it to a solid colour. Just off, or cycling through colours.QualityIt does take a bit of tweaking to get the performance just right.Recording 144fps gameplay is taxing, so most systems will struggle with the bitrates required. Best to stick to 60 anyway, as YouTube/other stereaming sites can't support over 60fps (unless you do some fancy manipualtion)Quality is very good - colours look nice (and you can adjust these if needed)Performance is smooth - no frame drops when I used reasonable encoder settings.Comapred to NDI (the no capture card 2 PC method), it is better, but don't expect a monumental change. NDI actually holds up very well, and if you're happy with that, then don't bother with the £180 on this!See this video to see the capture card in action, and comapred to NDI at 1440p60: search "NDI vs Capture Card. How it looks in 4 Games" --- Change the quality to the max your device will support! ---Overall, I do recommend this product, but WAIT FOR A GOOD DEAL! I wouldn't have paid more than the £180 I did, especially when NDI is a viable alternative. Feel free to comment any questions!

I have been looking for a capture card for a while to live stream to YouTube, this worked perfectly for what I wanted. I streamed for over 4 hours and I didn't have any problems, the metal shroud keeping the card covers seems to work well as a heat sink. Just make sure your computer has good air flow and you should be good.I used StreamLabs and never touched the AVerMedia software, so I won't be commenting on how well that performs. The "Live Gamer HD 2" is the PCIe capture card, plugged in really easy. No drivers / updates required. Literally worked right out of the box so it was just plug 'n play. The HDMI pass through worked wonders,I couldn't actually feel any input lag which was nice as you do get a bit of an input delay when passing through a capture card. Huge plus on that front.Solid 1080p 60fps image quality from the nintendo switch, I had no comments during the live stream about any problems with the image quality and I watched some of the footage back and it does appear that the card DOESN'T compress the picture quality which is a good thing. You don't lose any detail in the image but does put more stress on your hardware to process it.This leads me onto my next point, people gave this 1 star because they don't know what to do or don't know how these devices work. You DO need a high end computer to live stream a decent bitrate - high resolution image. You can't expect a lower end desktop to encode the image for a live stream without problems. The best thing you can do is drop the bitrate in your streaming software until you get a smooth image, this does mean you will be sacrificing image quality the lower the bit rate though.I have attached an image of the live stream, this was recorded at 1080 - 60 fps - 6500 bitrate and this is AFTER YouTube ran it through processing and the image quality is still fantastic.

Neat card, easy to install and both XSplit and OBS picked it up as a video source immediately. I can't compare it to the Elgato 4K but I found the initial software setup of this LG4K a little more fickle than the elgato HD60 pro.The good:Fab capture image qualityEasy to installPlayed nice with all existing capture software I hadThe -1 star things:Its all software related, the capture card itself is 5*Was a bit flaky until I applied the firmware update, this was prompted during install but failed half way through. I assume because the installer tried to access the card during update. After reboot and looking for the updater, I was able to run it again as administrator and it worked fine. The RGB lighting seems weird, the only options I can see is 3 different patterns, I don't see where to set a solid colour and so I don't understand the logic of even having it. I'm sure it will come in a software update. It's too quick to complain about "no signal", when the graphic card is changing resolutions, or indeed just initialising DirectX. They should just pause the last good frame or black screen for 2 seconds and then go "no signal". It's really annoying during streams, I have one game that does it 4 times just going from menu to main game. The Elgato HD60 Pro never does it once by comparison. These are purely software issues, they are clearly proud of their device and want it to be the most important thing. AverMedia just have to remember they are part of an ecosystem and need to think more like an end user.

I bought this and found the features to be great, robust, and easy to use. The Avermedia software works well with a sweet of tools to use as a standalone if you are not looking to use with OBS or another streaming tool.I choose this card due to the pass-through features. As I play competitively online I wanted to limit the input lag for streaming which I have been limited to on some Elgato and Hauppauge Capture cards I've purchased in the past.As I am playing at 1440p at 144hz this is the perfect range for my current setup and I am also able to record the 1440p 144hz easily without any impact to my gaming. This card is also well placed in terms of value with 4K HRD recording features (gameplay capture set at 4K60hrz - record 4K30Hrz)which will be great for the next generation consoles coming out this November/December 2020.Please keep in mind that you will need a pc or laptop to use this capture card. & and USB extension cables you use will not work so the device will need to be close to the PC/Laptop.

I initially bought an Elgato Cam Link with the intent to livestream drawing using my DSLR. I had no end of issues with the device, you have to faff around and install their capture software before the computer even recognises the Cam Link, and my image kept freezing every few seconds despite it being a powerful PC, having it in a USB 3.0 slot and fast enough internet. While their customer service was very helpful, they were pretty slow in getting things sorted out and eventually I gave up and chalked it down to a faulty capture device, so I returned it.However with the Live Gamer HD 2 all I had to do was insert it into my PC and go. It automatically installed the drivers with no bloatware needed and it runs extremely well with Xsplit.Zero stuttering or freezing. Comes with a HDMI cable and male-male aux cable included too! I'm very happy and wish I'd saved myself the trouble and gone for this one in the first place!

Pros:Simple setup, it is not plug and play but it’s easy to install with their Recentral software. The loop through pass through is great for up to 240hz HDMI 2.0 1080p. I am personally using this for my high refresh rate monitor because it’s just wiser to free up all those frames through a capture rig and keep your gaming rig focused on gaming. The RGB feature is nice but could use a little tweaking to work with aura mode for motherboards that run in sync with graphics cards.Price: this is the best/cheapest reasonable capture card on the market for 4K/60 1440/144 1080/240. You cant beat this. It’s litterally beating the Elgato and Elgato has nothing but issues.Cons: The RGB needs tweaking.Maybe some software update where it syncs up with your motherboards color modes and gpus. But that’s just a cosmetic issue.

As a deep video gamer, I've been forced to stay at home for days, which is kind of benefit to me. Read an article on PCGAMER and found that AVerMedia has some badass streaming devices so I ordered one from Amazon. Delviery was extremely fast ( thanks to Amazon), and started my first live gaming streaming video. I didn't get into any trouble in connecting with my MBP and xbox. Asked my cousin as my first audience and test the video quality, he said there's no latency at all and the video is turely streaming with 4K quality, which is surprising me because I have followed other live gamers' channels, and many of them have latency on streaming which make me think it's my bandwidth's problem. But now I know it's the problem of the quality of capture card. Will highly recommand live gamers this product.

I had elgato's product before, but the streaming quality got worse after 6 months of usage (not sure if it's the internet speed or the device itself), later I decided to make a survey on a new one as I finally got my Nintendo Switch (thank God). After reading mess of online reviews and influencer's articles, I placed an order for this AVerMeida's GC553. This little box is really powerful ! According to my audience's feedback, the quality of my last 5 live streams with new card were really good !! (Sure thing that my Internet speed is ok) So far I have tested Mario Kart 8 on Switch and Call of Duty on PS4, and no problem at all on both of the 2 games and platforms. Amazing recording and none-latency performance, will definitely recommend it to gamers.

Far better than the Elgato line.Connected, driver installed, immediately picked up in OBS, no questions asked.Currently using it to capture some older games through a HDMI modded system with an OSCC upscaler, even the bitrate seems much higher than my previous internal cards. Colour clarity is gorgeous when set to full range whereas on the older models it looked a little more washed out.Haven't tried my PS4 or Switch yet, but I'd imagine it looks just as gorgeous as my HDMI modded (WiiDual) Wii does.Uses a larger pci-e slot, my old avermedia (the c985) and my Elgato (hd60 pro) uses a x1 slot while this I think uses a x4? Had to move some of my PCI devices around to make room for it.Something to be aware of.Highly recommend.

Needed a usb capture card (mounted under the desk) for an itx build as you only have 1 pcie lane for the graphics card, the card it self is small and compact doesn't take up much room on the desk, it was practically plug and play, connected the card to my dedicated rec/streaming PC via the usb 3.1 cable then connected my gaming rig to the box via HDMI and cloned the display to my 1440p 144hz monitor loaded up OBS Studio and added video capture source and OBS detected it straight away no drivers needed!! (Windows 10) such a great alternative to the much much more expensive capture cards really am impressed and happy with my purchase and recommend it to anybody who wants to use a dual PC setup!rather than using Newteks OBS NDI.

Best capture card I’ve ever owned, had Elgato original game capture HD since it come out, became “defunct” after purchasing next gen console as Elgato doesn’t support the 120fps on that model simple price to what I paid that time ago but avermedia offered up to 240hz! So it’s next gen proof and then some!I run i7-8th Gen32gb Ram1tb nvme SSD4gb nvidia 1650 tiHonestly, hands down it’s flawless let’s me use my 144hz monitor and output 120fps as a pass through and record/stream in as close to that at 1920/1080p60fpsTrust me before you buy use the Avermedia Diagnosis Tool, if it ticks the box on everything green but states the graphics card might be problematic, use common sense,if it’s 2gb+ then it’ll be fine! Thanks!

I'm only giving this 4 stars, due to the fact that the capture card works good as intended but the provided software (recentral 3) is really bad. There's no way to minimize the interface so that you only get the preview screen on a movable/resizable window.Streaming function doesn't return any notification when if it gets disconnected. There's a long latency between the input video signal and the preview screen.Thankfully you can simply select the card as video source while using other casting software such as OBS, which doesn't have any of the above mentioned problems. Also the image is sharper and looks better than that of the elgato game capture.

After checked hundreds of reviews, communicated with some Twitch streamers, I decided to choose GC553 since I really need a good 4K passthrough capture card. It's very easy to connect and setup, the CyberLink video editing tool is also useful to me. Under my system : Intel i7 8th Gen. 8550U, 16GB DDR3, GeForce MX150, 256G SSD, Windows 10 64bit Home, it runs pretty smoothly, so far. The By using RECentral software to record in HDR mode is one of the most amazing feature to me, with my PS4, I only need to perform some minor adjustment, then the picture quality is quite perfect. Recommend this tiny card to both beginner and professional level streamers.

Had a MacBook Pro 2019 “15 and it didn’t work with it since the USB inputs on that Mac laptop were 3.1 USB buses. On the Avermedia website it said it wasn’t compatible with USB 3.1 only USB 3.0 (which was a bummer since I didn’t know until I got the product. I probably could’ve gotten a 3.0 USB hub but luckily I already had a spare windows laptop. I downloaded a software called “RECentral” and “OBS” but I only use OBS to stream. I also had to update the firmware of the Ultra by using the Assist Central (on their website).(Edit: it does work with a 3.0 USB Hub on a MacBook, and you can download “RECentral” “OBS” and “Assist Central”)

Please do not let the other reviews fool you. They have bought the lower end capture cards and does not indicate the true picture (no pun intended). This is my first review of anything I have ever bought on amazon and I have to say, it is worth it. This capture card is easily the best capture card on the market and it's almost £100 cheaper than the competition. The quality of the capture is crisp, vivid, and smooth. You are able to use ReCentral or any other third party capture software that supports directshow. I cannot recommend this enough.Easy to set up and easy to capture.Life saver really.
