I've worn Clarks shoes for nearly 50 years and always find them to be well-presented, high-quality and consistently sized. I was attracted to the 'Funny Dream' range not by their rather strange name but from having their earlier predecessors, the Polyveldts back in the early 1980s. They were quite innovative in their day and I remember how they were almost impossible to wear out. These 'Funny Dream' successors are made from thick, high quality leather and the same spongy rubber soles which are so comfortable to walk in on any surface and particularly hard floors where every step is cushioned. Although they don't have grooved tread on the sole, they are non-slip so can be happily worn on a polished floor or staircase with no danger of skidding - or even on a wet floor. This black pair are made from lightly grained thick black leather and are unlined. There's a cushioned inner sole and, following a few wears, this moulds itself to the shape of your feet and there's a further cushioned pad beneath the heel. They are comfortable straight from the box with no need to break them in.I was once told that shoes with the upper stitched externally onto the sole are the most sturdy and durable shoes - and this was certainly the case for the earlier Polyveldts and all the signs so far, suggest the same for these 'Funny Dream' successors.Definitely recommended. They're not the cheapest shoes but they last for years.

There's a cushioned inner sole and, following a few wears, this moulds itself to the shape of your feet and there's a further cushioned pad beneath the heel. They are comfortable straight from the box with no need to break them in although my pair felt slightly bigger than pairs in other colours - but I'm only talking 1-2mm. They are supplied fitted with leather and a spare pair of cream colour laces are included too.Definitely recommended. They're not the cheapest shoes but they last for years.

There are essentially 2 leather types of these shoes1) the crinkled leather variety2) the solid leather varietyThe first (like the blue, black & others) are of the first variety, this makes a difference if your foot doesn't quite match the width fitting (definitely like mine!) because the crinkled leather allows the shoe to flex and adjust more easily. So they are definitely quicker, easier and less painful (always a good point) to break in. The only trouble is that they generate static, you only have to have had the experience of solidly zapping yourself once, to make sure you earth yourself (on anything) before touching that metal window handle.... :-)The other type, well the solid leather (I had a brown pair)is a swine (pain, much) to break in, I think I should have chucked mine away I had that much "trouble" breaking them in. However now they have gone to the dustbin because the rubber on the heal actually imploded.... Didn't much like the solid leather variety, always slightly difficult to get on.

I am normally size 4 in shoes. I had ordered size 4 directly from manufacturer at sale price but they were very tight. Returned them to my local shop but sadly they did not have a bigger size. I was told that ideally my size in Clarks shoes sholud be size 41/2 . Not to be outdone, I managed to source size 41/2 online. They were a better fit but slightly tight so I am in the process of stretching them. The leather is soft so this shouldn't be too much of a problem. In future I will order size 5 when purchasing shoes from Clarks. That said, these are the loveliest shoes I've ever bought. The colour is beautiful and the laces are a nice dark green colour for contrast. They also came with laces the same colour as the shoes.I am absolutely delighted with these smart shoes even though I had to pay £20 more more than the sale price for the first order. But they were well worth it.

These were for my wife and as many people do (or perhaps should if they want the best deal) these days, she tried them on for fit in the local Clarks store where they are £60, and then ordered the right size from Amazon. She did order a size 6, which is at the top end of her usual shoe size, where she can sometimes get away with a size 5 or 5 and half, so these must be on the smaller end of fitting size, but are a nice wide fit.She absolutely loves these shoes for work, where she is on her feet pretty much all day, and they are super comfortable, saying that they are the comfiest shoes she has ever worn, and believe me she has worn a lot of shoes. They are super soft all round and caused no rubbing at all or any sore spots even after the first 8 hour shift on her feet in them.Definitely a good buy.

I had a pair of these, bought many years ago and they were my most comfortable shoes, I have worn them so much. The sole has just given up so I was pleased to see the same style was still available. The new ones look almost identical, and are just as comfortable - I wore them for the first time all day at work (I'm a specialist Teaching Assistant in a primary school so I am on my feet a lot) and they were as cosy as a glove. I also have plantar fasciitis, so comfort is vital! Really pleased. If I had one, tiny , tiny criticism, it would be that the stippling on the leather upper is not quite as pronounced as the rest of the shoe - but that may be a necessary part of its design! But they still have my top marks - love the design, mega comfy and I know they will last. A brilliant buy!!

I very much wanted these Clarks Funny Dream, especially as they came in many colours. So I ordered my size (5.5). On receiving them I was hugely disappointed to find I could not even get my front foot into the shoes, never mind the whole foot. Holding them against the Rockport shoes I had been wearing, I measured that Clarks 5.5 were more than 1 inch shorter and almost half as wide. It was like a children's shoe. Until I find out the correct size that I take in the Clarks range, I had to regretfully return them and had no problem at all getting a full refund. But one day . . . .I'm definitely getting them, once I find the correct sizing chart. They are a beautiful range of shoe.

What a disappointment! This is the third pair of these shoes I have ordered. The first two pairs have been great, definite five stars. They were comfortable immediately and I have worn them for many months. This new pair in red(brick) look great but they are tight, very tight! On checking the labels inside it appears that the manufacturer may have changed.I have returned them and ordered a pair of 5.5s rather than my usual 5.Fingers crossed these work out.update:I've now received the 5.5s and have worn them several times. They are good, rather than brilliant.Still a bit tight but loosening with wear. Not unreasonable to move from 3 stars to 4 stars

Fantastic shoes. I had a similar pair back in early 80's....took heed of many feedbacks and ordered half a size bigger. This was needed. They were like little gloves from the word go. I work in a busy hospital department and walk or on my feet all day...no problems. My feet are still comfy! And I dont have the best feet in the world...until now....Well worth the money and look smart too.P.S. Having worn them for a few weeks now they are still fantastically comfortable , however I do get static shock all day long. Work in a hospital with patients and have had to stop wearing them for work as I am shocking all the patients that i.

Well despite being male, these fit perfectly, though they are a little tight (have a slightly wider foot, but a size 8 fits) when you first put them on and take a bit of wearing in, but they appear to be good quality shoes. I knew they were around before in the 1980's, but I like the newer style better. A bit worried about some of the reviews that they wear out quickly and do wonder if I ought to order a second pair to keep in reserve, especially as Clarks is notorious for ending a particular production run without warning..... and I don't want to have to wait another 30 years to get another pair... :-)

My "granny shoes"! Originally ordered a size 6 but those felt a bit tight where the seam goes over, after checking sizing on Clarks website I went for a size 7 rather than a 61/2. i think I should have gone for the 61/2 as the 7 is a bit wide but not excessively with thicker socks, oh well more wiggle room for my toes! These are comfortable. I walk around town a lot and the soles cushion my feet. I was a bit worried about the lack of arch support as I suffer with Plantars fasciitis but my feet are loving these.Need dark sock as these are unlined leather and the colour will mark your socks!

I actually remember these shoes from the "old" days and was so happy to find them again. They are so comfortable but do bewars of sizing. I take a 39 EU which is nowadays is usually a 6UK. So I ordered 39EU and was a little surprised to find 51/2 written on the sole. I manged to fit the shoes with thin socks and once on they were very comfortable and I'm hoping they stretch a bit so I can wear thicker socks. But I've just checked now on the size choice on the web site and there is a 39.5 EU size which is, I presume, a size 6 UK. So just be aware of the sizing!

As a nurse, I work on my feet for 12hrs but these shoes made it bearable. I’ve wiorn them for two weeks and they are so comfortable and fits perfectly. I always buy Clarks shoes for work, although they aren’t glamorous or cheap but they are always the best when it comes to comfort. They were delivered the next day by Amazon with free delivery despite advertising for 3-5 working days delivery. I’m planning to buy one more pair to keep for the future in case they stop manufacturing them. I’ll certainly recommend it for anyone that wants their feet to breath.

absolutely love em!!!! i was told by the chiropodist to not wera lp on shoes so i plumped for these after rading all the reviews on them,,, and by gum they are wonderful, so light so comfortable, thought at first they were going to be a little and i mean a little tight, but left them on and within an hour my feet had settled into them perfectly... well impressed and everyone says how nice and comfy they look......there again they are "clarks" and they've been making quality shoes for a long long time

Fabulous shoes with the quality you would expect from Clarks.Purchased for work as a porter in the local NHS hospital these shoes have already trodden a few miles in the past week and apart from a little wear in within the first few hours they haven't posed a problem at all, every time I wear them they are becoming more like a pair of slippers! So far my plantar facitius hasn't played up while wearing them which has prompted me to buy another pair in a different colour for wear outside of work!
