I was looking for a good, simple black hoodie to replace one that I lost and tested four different ones on Amazon:Carhartt Women's Clarksburg Full Zip Hoodie - $49.99CLOVERY Women's Casual Zip-up Hoodie Basic Long Sleeve Hoodie - $26.99MAJECLO Women's Slim Fit Casual Full-Zip Hooded Lightweight Long Sleeve Sweatshirt - $22.95Starter Women's Zip-Up Hoodie, Amazon Exclusive - $15.99I didn't like Hanes' jersey hoodie because it was too thin and flimsy. All the hoodies are size small, black.Out of the four hoodies, I like Carhartt the best. It's a nice, thick material that will keep me warm. The zipper is metal and sturdy. It also has metal grommets on the holes for the hoodie strings (though the ends are fastened with plastic tips). The kangaroo pockets are big and deep. Two things I don't really like are the price point (compared to the other hoodies), and the zipper pull is a bit big.Clovery is my second choice because it's pretty good quality for the price. It's a bit thin for what I want but great for those who want something light but not "t-shirt thin" like the Hanes hoodie. It's really soft and fits pretty well. The hood is the best out of the four because it actually covers your head without tugging up on the shoulders. It actually extends a bit to shield your face too. What I don't like is the hoodie string, since the ends are just tied in a knot, not sewn or fastened by any coverings like the other hoodies. I also don't really like the zipper pull since it clacks against the zipper and makes a bit of noise when I move around. The kangaroo pockets are big, but so are the openings so I'm wary that things might fall out easily.Majeclo is probably my least favorite out of the four because it's thinner than I like (though still a little thicker than Hanes) and it doesn't fit very well. It's really soft, which is nice, but that's also because of the thinness. The hoodie string has metal fasteners on the ends, which is nice compared to the other four. The kangaroo pockets have the same problem as the Clovery hoodie—big openings that your stuff may fall out of.Starter comes in third place as the cheapest of the bunch. It's made of thick material so you can stay warm during evenings (which was my biggest priority). Hoodie strings are nearly sewn at the ends. It is definitely smaller than the other four though so you can't really wear anything thicker than a t-shirt underneath. It suits shorter torsos. I don't like the hood since it's also really small and tags on the shoulders the most compared to the other hoodies. Pockets are TINY, which ultimately is a no-no for me.

This is a very well made sweatshirt. For the price I was expecting something of quality which it did not disappoint. There are nice details such as the quality of the materials; the zipper pull, the zipper itself, the ribbed cuffs, the hood is great and even zips all the way up to your neck which is fantastic. However, despite these qualities I decided to return this item. It’s nice but was a little too much function over form for my style. I suppose that’s to be expected from a utilitarian brand such as Carhartt. There’s nothing wrong with that at all. If you live in a cooler climate and intend to wear this outdoors in the fall and winter I think you’d be very happy with it. For me,I live in south Florida and honestly was just looking for a hoodie to wear at night at home when we lower our AC and I need something on besides a T-shirt. So, in the end I returned this and purchased two Amazon Essentials hoodies practically for the same price as this one item, which i must say i was pleasantly surprised by the quality for the price of the Amazon Essentials hoodies, but that will be a separate review.Bottom line:I have no doubt that the Carhartt hoodie would last longer and in the end is a higher quality product, I just didn’t love that it’s not very fitted (it’s advertised as being a relaxed fit so I really should have known better so that was my fault not the sweatshirt) in the mid section and frankly was a bit boring. My husband didn’t love it despite recognizing the quality was good. The logo on the front pocket is a bit large for my liking also. I’m impressed with the quality however and if I lived in a cooler climate I would happily purchase more Carhartt products because you can really tell that the craftsmanship and quality are there, that’s worth a higher price tag to me. But even better is if they designed a line of more form conscious clothes for women who are looking for quality but don’t necessarily need the clothes for utilitarian purposes entirely. My two cents!

If you like to push your sleeves up, you will be disappointed. the cuff fabric is as stretchy as you would expect, the main fabric is so-so stretchy, but the stitch used to sew the cuff to the sleeve is entirely stiff, and there is no give whatsoever. You will either restrict circulation if you push your sleeves up, or pop the stitching. Also, the width is oddly disproportionate to the band at the bottom; the shape curves outward after the underarm and then back in to meet the waist band...I honestly don't care too much about aesthetics, but it's just annoying when an article of clothing is avoidably unflattering and dysfunctional (cuff stitching). I feel Carhartt's concept of "relaxed fit" was poorly executed on this one.HOWEVER, relatively easy fix if you sew or can afford a tailor. I like the overall quality, color, length, and that the zipper goes higher up into the hood slightly. I plan on disconnecting the cuffs and resewing with a stretch stitch, and bringing in the outward curve on the sides.

This jacket fits as expected - considering it’s a workwear brand. I’m 5’ and 110lbs and I’m used to these types of brands being a bit large on me. That being said this jacket fits more like a small than an extra small but that’s not really a huge issue. If you have the option to size down and want it a bit more fitted you definitely have room to do so.The quality is great and it’s definitely warm. I wore it out with nothing but a thin tank top underneath and having it half zipped up in 49° weather there was a very slight chill but if I wore a sleeved shirt under it would be perfect for the weather. The only thing I would say could make this better would be if it had thumb holes.Other than that it’s great and I’ll probably buy it in some other colors. Definitely worth the money.

This jacket is thick and warm. We've been wearing Carhartt clothing for years and this jacket demonstrates the same high quality materials and solid construction as everything else we've ever owned from them. The fit is as expected with a little room to comfortably wear warm clothing underneath without binding up. They indicate that the women's medium size fits an 8 or 10. I love how the inside of the hood is lined to help reduce static and keep the fuzz of the lining from getting in your hair. The zipper is easy to work and the front pockets are generously sized. The material is a cotton/polyester blend that should hold its shape and size through many washings.A jacket like this will last forever and when it finally has to be replaced, you'll be sad. Made in Vietnam.

I read the reviews before buying this sweater and so glad I did. I'm 5'4", 113lbs, 34 chest - just thought it's important to mention chest size to help you guys estimate your size. I got a size Small and it fits me just fine. The length of the sweater covers my crotch area and it's a tad bit loose in the chest and belly area, which is fine since I like my sweaters to be a bit loose and you can layer up for colder days, but the sleeves fit me just right - they go over my wrists but don't cover my palms unless I tug on the cuffs to go over them.I got the 'Fudge Heather' color which looks really nice; like a dark garnet. This sweater is nice and warm; REALLY soft and is my new favorite sweater <3Would love to get more colors in the future.

The interior of this sweatshirt jacket is so soft, and it's constructed with the quality you would expect from Carhartt. Not a stitch or thread out of place. The hood is nice and roomy and leaves a substantial overhang above your face and stays up too. Standard front pockets and drawstring closure at the neck. Sturdy zipper. Very warm. Not warm enough for sub-freezing days, but for those milder winter days it's perfect. I do find it to run a bit small though. I ordered the extra large hoping it would be roomy enough to wear over a sweatshirt and long enough to cover my rear so I could wear it with thermal leggings. I can wear it over a sweatshirt, but it is not long. I think it fits more like a large, which is my regular size.

I originally ordered the asphalt color, which looks more like a cream color in the photo on amazon. When you get it it’s totally grey. I was totally disappointed in the color. You can see it in my picture. So I exchanged it for the black.Definitely love the black! Great staple to have in your closet. It’s definitely made well and I can tell it’s going to last me years and years.I’m usually a XS or S but like my jackets a little bit more loose. So I ordered the small . It’s perfect! Not too tight not too loose. And you can definitely layer. I have a sweater underneath it in my picture. Can’t go wrong with Carhart... except with the colors maybe.

A great, heavy and thick full zip hoodie from Carhartt. While the temperatures here in the North East have been near zero or below for the past few weeks, and this jacket is not quite going to handle the cold, it will come perfectly in place in the spring time. Although it fits well, it is slightly on the snug side. But even with that, I really like this jacket. Its a good heavyweight material and is a good length and I feel good in it. This is my first Carhartt product and I will certainly be looking for their other products in the future.

This sweatshirt is great! I is heavy weight but very soft inside. The construction in impeccable and the zipper is heavy duty. I am 5'6" and 120 lb. I ordered a medium because I did not want a tight fight and found it was too big so I am returning for a small. I would not say the product runs big; for my size I should be a small so I think that they are right on in the sizing. I love this item and expect that it will last a very long time. I should mention: I ordered the Asphalt Heather and it is a nice color....kind of tanish grey.

Was looking for a lighter weight sweatshirt for layering, to replace my long loved one. After looking around i decided to go with carhartt, since ive liked everything ive gotten from them. Im glad i read the reveiws and ordered a medium, was gonna order a small. The medium gives me a bit more wiggle room then i would have gotten with a small. (I'm 5' 4" 130lbs and a DDD. If you want it snug, go with your true size. if you want some room, order a size up. love the fabric, super soft inside, roomy hood. glad i bought.

This zip up hoodie is warm, durable and comfortable, just what I needed to toss on to do yard work in the cold. I normally wear a medium, but I ordered a large because other product reviews indicated it ran small. The arms are a little long for me, but everything else fits fine, and the sleeves roll up easily. I cleared a bunch of thorn bushes out wearing this jacket and it didn't snag, other jackets would have as I many times I got branches stuff to me and had to pull them loose. I would recommend this jacket.

Great product, as you would expect from carhartt! I tend to struggle with sizes, because I need a 4/6 (5ft and 125 lbs). This fit me really well, as the sleeves were a little bit bigger, to allow me to wear long sleeves underneath, without bunching. The length was good, so it didn't look like I was wearing a boyfriend's sweatshirt. The lining is a super soft fleece. This is my new 'go to' sweatshirt, good for spring/fall outside, or tooling around the house in the winter!

I couldn't figure out the sizing even after looking at Carhartt's website. It turns out the small size is labeled 4/6 but it really fits me like an 8, or a men's small hoodie. I like it a little baggy but if I wanted it more fitted I could have ordered an XS. My measurements are 34" bust, 30" waist, 40" hips and I usually wear a size medium in women's tops. The only snug part of the small size is my hips, which fit just right (with a little bit of extra).

I love my Carhartt Clarksburg hoodies. I have several. I ordered the sherpa lined hoodie in my usual size and found it to be too large, so I returned it and dropped back one size to a medium. For reference, I am 5'6", 155 lbs. This hoodie is very warm with the sherpa and has the usual Carhartt quality and attention to detail. I expect I will have and enjoy this hoodie for a long time.
