We have enjoyed playing Trivial Pursuits as a family for many years so when I decided to buy a new game I knew that I was looking for something in a similar genre. This game really appealed to me because it is based on answering general knowledge questions over a wide range of categories. I also liked the idea of the added twists which meant that it wasn't just the answer a question and move round the board type; with this game there is also an element of strategy involved. Even better when that strategy means you can scupper someone else's chances to improve your own.The rules of the game need reading through a couple of times in order to familiarise yourself with how to play it.They are straightforward and easy to follow but it is definitely worth having a practice run with new people so that they get the hang of what to do with the bezzerwizzer and zwap tiles. There are two complete packs of question cards with 20 different categories on each card. You only ask one question per card so they last a long time - we have rarely had questions repeated even though we have played this game many times. Some of the questions can be a little tough - but it is like anything, if you know the answer then they are simple. A large majority of the questions are answerable if you have a reasonable level of general knowledge. The hardest ones often give you three choices of answers so at least you have a chance of getting the answer right. I have found that for most questions, even if I don't know the answer, someone else round the table does. I like that not all the questions are so easy that everyone can answer them. I think that many of the questions would be a little tough for younger children. They are probably better suited for older teens and adults. You can play the game as individuals or as teams, both work equally well, and it means that you can play with as little as two people up to 16 people - 4 teams of 4.Overall, this is a great game to play with family and friends and it is the kind of game that you can bring out regularly without anyone saying 'Oh no, not that again'

Note******* version I have is the uk version, other reviewers seem to have received US edition ****I have had this board game for around 3 years now and would really recommend it.The rules are simple and straightforward so there's not much waiting around for one person to read the rules and figure out how to start playing! The other good thing is that it doesn't take too long to play, unlike some other games, so you could have a quick game and if you still feel in the mood for playing do another round of the board.Questions are a good mix of levels and subjests. No one comes out of it feeling like a complete idiot and yet there are also challenging questions for the brainer members of your group. The bezzerwizzer and zwap tiles (which let you swap catogories or "steal" another team/persons questions) mix things up a bit and create extra fun.You can play this with individuals or teams so it's good for a variety of group sizes. If you want a trivia game that is a bit easier than trivial persuit this game is a good option. The only "negative" thing is that a few of the questions are geared towards people who live in the UK (eg questions about Uk tv programs etc) but one member of my family has lived abroad all his life and still enjoys playing this as the majority of the questions are not country specific.

We bought 3 new games this year to play with the family during Christmas. Bezzerwizzer was played after a lively session of Articulate, so I wondered whether or not this more serious game would hold the attention of all participants, but it managed surprisingly well, with all teams present for a successful finish!I preferred the game to others of the type I have played, with more categories of question and novelties such as being able to snatch questions from other players. You can also arrange your categories into your preffered order so that you get most points from your favourite category. The board, question cards and accessories are all well made and of good quality, but the typeface on the cards is rather too small for easy reading - but maybe the lighting was a bit low when we were playing? All in all, if you want a fun, quiz type game for adults, I would recommend this game.

Living in Austria, I bought both the English and German versions of this game, hoping that combined, they would be suitable for an international group of friends. This proved partly true, and compared to similar "Trivia" quiz games that are much more country-specific, Bezzerwizzer certainly contains a greater number of questions pertaining to the entire world. We removed the Media category, since questions in this category are predominantly country-specific. It would be great if the designers could come up with a truly international version, where none of the questions relate to a national TV programme, or local politics, for example. The language is less important than the nature of the questions, since they can easily be translated. We enjoyed the tactics that set this game apart from other quiz games, and the fact that, even with four teams playing, the game doesn't last forever!

This game is fantastic. The questions are up-to-date and challenging. There are twenty categories of questions; some are teasers but some are very hard. Full range of ages, abilities and sobriety (LOL) catered for, so it's fun for all. Also, the questions range in time from very modern things, such as iPods, way back to stuff in the 70s 80s, and even before... notwithstanding whether they are the history category.I was a hardened Triv fan, but this game is MILES better than Triv. I'm serious. There are also other techniques which make the game more fun by injecting a little competitive mischief. The board is durable, brightly coloured and easy to read. The rules are easy, too.We couldn't decide how to pronounce the name, so we call it Beelzebub.Give it a go, you wont be disappointed!

Bought this product as a gift in the hope I would get to play it when meeting up with the recipients. I did get one opportunity to play the game but the gift recipients enjoyed it so much they jealously guard it and won't even let me borrow it. As lovers of the Trivial Pursuit game we thoroughly enjoyed Bezzerwizzer particularly the clever way to 'steal' opponents subject cards. All admirers of the traditional game you will want this in their arsenal. There are 5,000 questions covering a multitude of subjects - I think you should be able to adapt them to use with the traditional game. I will buy a set for myself and a set for my family for when I visit them.Highly recommended.

Like one of the other reviewers, we were keen to try something other than Trivial Pursuit.Bezzerwizzer is an excellent replacement as it is still trivia based, but allows you the opportunity to swap your questions with your opponents, so they can end up answering a question in one of their weaker categories and you profit from their loss. You can also answer their questions if they get the answers wrong to boost your points. It certainly adds an interesting extra twist to a trivia game. There are more categories than Trivial Pursuit and definitely something for everyone. It is really good fun. We played as 5 adults and really enjoyed it.

Our family always needs a new game at christmas and I didn't have time to look around for much. I read the reviews on here and took a punt that this would be better than Trivial Pursuit (it's been done to death in our family!) and not too complicated to cause rows over the rules! We absolutely loved it. Normally someone is just too good at the questions to give anyone else a chance but the need to employ tactics and a little bit of harmless pain to your opponents means that we had different winners each time. The level of questions is good and the categories are really varied so there's something for everyone. I highly recommend it.

The basis of this game is brilliant - general knowledge with tactics - but the tactical rules are complicated and have been the subject of much argument and (mis)interpretation in this family. Applying these rules exactly tends to make the play exceedingly slow and we have been considering creating our own rules to play a simpler and quicker version on the occasions we'd like to have some simple enjoyment rather than serious (and argumentative) acquisition of knowledge. Incidentally, the questions themselves are repeated on some of the cards - perhaps intentionally to ensure you have learnt the answer?

Bought this for friends who played it with their family on Christmas Day and really enjoyed it so they brought it to our house after Christmas to play. The game is good fun and like all good games can start trouble. It is like Trivial Pursuit but is completed in a shorter time. You can steal subjects from opponents but beware of this as sometimes the questions in your preferred subject are not as easy as you might think

This is such a fun game! The wide variety of trivia topics makes it fun regardless of how much "useless trivia" you may know. There is a great mix of difficult questions to stump the brainy ones of the group, and simple questions that will give everyone a chance to advance on the board. Every member of our family now owns a copy for their household. This is highly recommended!

A fabulous boardgame. The questions range from pretty easy to who-the-hell-would know THAT! Found the tv questions the hardest because I haven't been living in the UK for 15 years. Quicker and more fun than Trivial Pusuit, it also has a nice twist to it with the zwap and bezzerwizzer tiles. The most fun is had by playing it in pairs or small groups.

After a couple of plays with different friends, we have established a couple of small amendments which we feel improve the game. The category tiles are excellent, but the playing board is a little small (we play twice round). Some of the questions are very american but that aside it's a great game.

Recommended to us by some danish friend. An excellent game, fun for all. For younger children probably better to pair with an adult. It has a tremendous variety of questions and also allows some flexibility with regards how questions are take. Seems in many ways better than trivial pursuit

We bought this game for christmas. A bit like trivial pursuit, but with a twist - the bezzerwizzer tiles add a tactical element which makes it a little more interesting. The components are durable and high quality, and I think we will get it out again at another social occassion.
