Have a whole weekend free? Like WWII board games? This is the ultimate game of games. I've loved and played the original A&A for more than 20 years. This 1940 (Europe and Pacific) Second Edition is simply awesome. I bought one each for my two sons for Christmas (okay, I confess, it was really for me!). The changes to the rules, extra units (e.g. separate anti-air artillery and normal ground artillery as well as cruisers now slipped in between destroyers and battleships). the fact that you can scramble fighters and tactical bomber to assist in sea battles in adjacent combat zones, the fact that battleships and carriers are now considered 'capital ships' and have two hit points (and are repairable if they only take one hit)

I purchased this game as I already have Axis and Allies Europe: 1940 (2nd edition) plus 2 other A & A games, and I am very pleased with it. I was surprised when I opened the ANZAC forces that the navy in particular was quite a formidable force - that was until I opened the Japanese forces, which are over twice the size of the equivalent force in A & A: 1942 (2nd edition)!! All in all I am very impressed with my purchase - I was especially pleased to see the Bristol Beaufort and HMS Warspite represented in the ANZAC forces. Finally, I have a couple of suggestions for any future revision of this game. They are a) Include the Dutch and b) A few more Chinese infantry pieces (say 10 at least)

A complex and unforgiving game , and the detail on the pices are amazing! Is a gaint pain in the ass to leaarn the rules, but o so worth it, extremly fun to play and the map is fantastic, and if you coble it together with Pacific 2nd edtiont it becomes gianormus (its ridiculous big), it can be hard to find a tabel that fits both the map and your reserve units!

El mejor juego de la II Guerra Mundial, no muy complicado, quizás no es realmente un verdadero wargame, pero recrea de forma creíble el teatro europeo del conflicto Europeo de la Guerra Mundial.

Bought this with Europe 1940. Only way to play this. Be warned it's a big game that takes a long time to play. Make sure you have at least 8 hours free.It's good fun if you like war games.

Great gameboard and playing pieces. Easy to learn, challenging to make the right decisions, expensive if you make the wrong ones! Great fun.
