(Doesn't come with the storage boxes you see in picture - I made these)Got this as a Christmas present to myself. I enjoy strategy games and my son is old enough to enjoy them with me. After looking at reviews I decided that this 1942 Second Edition was the best fit for me. It can seem complicated but if you play strategy games then you will get the idea soon enough. Even then you can go to a few online forums to answer any specific questions. Also, don't forget Uncle Youtube, there are some great short videos explaining the main rules etc.One thing to note is that this is not a game to put up and take down again in an hour.

I bought this as I'd purchased A & A: 1941 previously and liked it. I Mus say that although this game is twice the price of A & A: 1941 it is worth it - you get over twice the amount of playing pieces (including 3 New categories - Cruisers, field artillery and AAA) and the counters are plastic rather than cardboard. Also the quality of the cardboard pieces is a vast improvement on A & A 1941. I was so impressed I went on to purchase both A & A 1940 titles.

As a fan of the Axis and Allies series I may be biased, but this game is great. As a player of Risk for many years I would say A&A 1942 2nd edition is a great next level up advancing the strategy side with different units with different strengths and weaknesses. I nice game if you are interested in WW2 and the ease of play is great for new comers to the genre!

Just purchased this board game for me and my father to play, first time we both are playing board games together, this is the very first board game we ordered and we are looking forward to playing it, we both been studying the rules online.Thankfully this was the cheapest 1942 second edition i could find, cant wait to receive it in the mail!Thank you! :D

A complex and unforgiving game , and the detail on the pices are amazing! Is a gaint pain in the ass to leaarn the rules, but o so worth it, extremly fun to play.Plus if you buy bith 1940 Europe, Pacific 2nd edition you can still use the units that this game comes with, they are a slight shade darker, but thats a slight.

Great Game, for those who love strategy and WWII theme. Extensive use of Naval, Land and Air forces in combination for successful strategy to eliminate enemy threats and capture vital and strategic territories. Only suitable for those who are Level 5 and above strategy players, for less skilled look into 1941 edition.

This is a great game, takes some time to play, so you need to be able to leave it set up over a number of nights, unless you can commit to a full days play. Played one game against my 12 year old son so far and really enjoyed it, plenty of subleties and tactices required. Can't wait to play again.

I don't know how good this is as a Christmas gift for my husband who loves board games and has an old version Axis and Allies on CD, but gave it a 5 star rating for delivery as received today and wasn't due till mid November.

Huge improvement on the original game, new playing pieces are excellent. Board-map has extra territories and looks much better. Played once and looking foward to the next game.

Have always thought of trying one of these and glad I did. Worth every penny and having a blast but know my nerdy side will soon lead me to look for a bigger version.

Bought this for my son's 15th. Exactly as described, and we all love it! Allow a fair bit longer that 3 hours for a game though - it can take up to 6!

Very good game. Involved and strategic so needs patience and you will be referring to the rule book a lot but well worth the trouble.

It takes a while to learn the rules but it’s the best board game I have ever played. I cannot play risk anymore after this

Had the original MB version - this is certainly an improvement, though the last game took 4+ hours!
