This review is for the ASUS ROG Strix Z490-F Gaming.I had no issues installing and using the board. It has a good amount of ports and even has a m.2 wifi slot in addition to the two m.2 slots for ssd's.The board certainly looks the part but I was slightly disappointed to see the shroud over the chipset, next to the ssd m.2 slot is plastic. There is a heatsink on the chipset itself, but what you see above is just a piece of plastic, impossible to discern with the eye just looking at it. Regardless the chipset is cooled properly and certainly the VRM stays nice and cool with an overclocked i7-10700k.I really can't fault the physical layout of the board apart from the small niggle mentioned above. However the bios is buggy. The bios that shipped with the board was the initial version 04** and it had several issues. For example it was impossible to get both my monitors working, running one of a dedicated GPU and one of the CPU. Once I updated to the new version 06** that got fixed.I also have an issue with the adaptive voltage setting for the CPU, it does not seem to work properly and I am hoping it is just another bios issue. I can not get anything near stable. Inputting a voltage of 1.3v was all of a sudden 1.6v in Windows with temps hitting the 90's just loading Windows. I have always run adaptive voltage on every cpu since the i7 4790 days without issue, but now I am unable to get stable with voltage all over the place. For now I am running a constant vcore and it work really well. Got 5.1ghz with avx offset of 1 at 1.395v.The bios needs some work, but I can almost forgive them because it is just after release. I will have to play around some more with the adaptive voltage. In general a good looking and fast performing motherboard with some bios bugs.

Really happy with this board so far. only had it running a few days though.Building was fast and easy. only a slight issue with the size of the rear io fitting in my phantek p400 case. i had to leave some motherboard screws out. Also the board is thin so i had to shim the cpu cooler mount on my corsair H100 v2. I did this with some washers.Im running an i5 9600k in mine and with the cooler its sitting at 30 degrees (fans on silent). on boost its about 50 so plenty of room for overclocking. I'll report back once ive done that. The CPU mount is tight so it was a little scary pulling that lever down. Its been a while since i last did one. But it located perfectly.the AI suite software has advanced a lot since my old p8p67 pro. Also the Bios is really easy to use. I had windows up and running in less that 15 minutes using UEFI boot.Fan control is awesome. also the RBG lighting looks pretty pimp. The motherboard doesn't come in a static bag. I thought this was strange but apparently its normal for ROG boards. That said the board worked great so obviously isn't an issuei've included some pictures. I haven't tidied the fan wires yet because they are too short so don't judge me lolUPDATE: The CPU temp is stuck on 11 degrees. This is in both bios and AI suite. This makes tuning the fans difficult. I seem to remember Asus temps are always a bit wild but this is clearly a fault. I'm going to run a 2pin thermal sensor instead and hope its just a software issue.now running 4.8ghz with 1.35 volts. realtemp is showing 70 degrees max temp.

The Asus Z390-F Motherboard is a great choice for PC builds! I've recently built a system for use with Adobe's Premiere Pro and to play some of the latest PC game titles, and what can I say? This board offers an array of features ranging from support for the latest Intel i9 Processors, to supporting 4000mhz+ DDR4 memory. Not to mention support for the latest and greatest Nvidia and AMD graphics cards including SLI. The board has plenty of Sata3 ports for storage, and two M.2 NVME PCI-E ports for flash storage. The board comes well packaged with a fully comprehensive installation guide, and I love the ROG STRIX RGB heatsink/backplate. The system I've built features the Intel i9 9900KS processor,NZXT H510 Elite case and NZXT Kraken x62 AIO Cooler, 32GB of DDR4 4000MHZ memory, an Nvidia RTX 2070, 2x Samsung 970 NVME drives, 2x Sata3 Samsung 960 SSD drives, and 2x 4TB Seagate Storage volumes, and finally Corsair's 750w Modular PSU. One great thing to mention about this motherboard, it has plenty of headers for Chassis Fans! I found all of the external headers to be logically placed on this board, enabling me to keep my system super clean. The board features some really easy to use Overclocking tools and I really like how you can update the board's firmware over the LAN. Overall great quality product for a great price. Would purchase again! - Jake

This is a high quality, easy to install and full of features motherboard. One word of warning is to make sure the board has the minimum required BIOS for your CPU already installed or the board will not post. ASUS will say that it should still post to BIOS but I can tell you from first hand experience that it won't until it is updated. Apart from that the board is superb. Using the built in AI overclocking software it achieves settings just as good as I could get manually which makes overclocking so much quicker. I achieved 49 ratio on 6 cores and 50 ratio on 3 cores with an i5-9600k Refresh (R0 stepping). I also managed to overclock my Corsair Vengeance DDR4 memory from stock 2133MHz C13 to 3200MHz C16 at 1.35v.The only negative I found for this board is the CPU usage for Aura lighting. I must point out though that this issue is not exclusive to this board, it is the same on all ASUS ROG Strix boards. I feel it is more an issue with how the software interacts with the board rather than the board itself. Ways to fix this is to 1) Turn off the effects 2) or run the effects in either Dark(same as turning them off), Static, or smart. If like myself your case has an inbuilt RGB controller then I recommend using this as it uses zero CPU resources. I recommend this board very highly and anyone thinking of buying one won't be disappointed.

Really good Asus motherboard. I always tend to stick with Asus and they havent let me down. This is a fantastic mid range gaming motherboard. it has 2 fan headers plus 2 for the CPU, i would have liked to have seen a few more but ive had more expensive boards before. it also comes with 2 RGB headers and an addressable RGB header meaning you can use 12v rgb strips then have individual leds controlled such as on fans. again would love more and i know the board cant be covered in headers! on RGB, the back IO panel uses asus aura software and has cool RGB effects too.the thing i really like about this is that there are two M2 slots, one under a heat sync and one near the middle of the board.having the option to have 2 along with 6 SATA ports is really handy for lots of storage.one of the reasons i always stick with asus is that i love the software, including the bios software, its really easy to navigate and tweak every aspect if you want to. there is an EZ mode if you are not confident in the bios then an advanced move for changing every voltage and timing ever!overall this is a great looking board with a lot of functionality for the price. I always like to get the best for price and i feel like ive done this with this board.

I was going to go for the maximum xi but went for this to save some dosh. Also I thought it would look nicer with a vertical gpu which would have hidden the ROG eye on the maximus. Housing an i5 9600k out the box without needing to update bios which I was worried about.I installed windows then updated the bios. I hit some problem by doing this then got a cannot repair message and windows was unable to load. I thought it was beyond repair but I managed to get past this somehow but can't remember the details. So if it is running OK I suggest not updating the bios if you have no problems already and are unsure of any hurdles you may hit.If you have an aio cooler you may get an error for having no cpu fan and you will be stuck on the bios screen. You should go into bios and select DISABLE CPU FAN if you choose not to use the cpu fan header. But make sure your fans are blowing and controllable. I'm just waiting for a fan splitter then I will connect to the cpu header.EditNote that the large USB lead from your case is plugged in to the bottom on this motherboard. This will leave the cable on top of the psu shroud. It is more tidy to have this USB socket on the right of the board. I will be having a vertical gpu to hide this.

I love this product because it comes with Wifi, supports overclocking and has dual M.2. It also provides some overclocking profiles to help simplify the process. I took advantage of the dual M.2 slots and I can say that data transfer is lightning fast when copying data from one to the other. Though I'm not into LED lighting but it looks really cool at night especiall if you have a glass PC case. However, you can turn this off if it is distracting. After many hours Gaming with overclocked settings (Intel CPU i7 9000K from 3.6 MHz to 5.2 MHz), the system remains stable all the time. It is almost two months since I purchased this product and I haven't noticed any stability issues even with high overclock settings.I would recommend it to anyone, but if you do not require the WiFi feature, there are cheaper models that support overclocking too.

I got this motherboard today and also a I9 10900k CPU, I installed it into my Cooler Master PC ATX case with little problems. The motherboard is excellent at keeping the temps down on the new CPU, I have done many benchmarks that prove the new i9 10900k does run at much less temps at higher speed then it's predecessor. This board is similar to my older Asus XI code and was easy to get around. I played BFV at 4k Ultra settings with a safe OC of 5.2ghz and a off set to 5.1ghz all cores, temps never past 67c, my older i9 9900k hit higher temps at 4.9ghz. The new CPU is capable of a higher clock speed but I didn't push it too far until further testing and updates.Do remember if your getting this motherboard and the I9 10900k you should also make sure you have a high psu as the CPU does draw high Watts when oc.

Motherboard arrived quickly and well packaged. The board was really nice and clean looking, I really love the look of the heat sinks on the VRM's and around the PCIE area. The board had a good selection of rear IO ports and also a good selection of connectors on the motherboard ranging from RGB connections, lots of fan headers and a selection of connectors for water coolers to monitor them correctly. The motherboard came with all the necessary pieces and some nice extras which included a wrist strap (ROG) a fan and mount to provide extra cooling which was all nice. Instructions were easy to read and my computer booted straight away.Would highly recommend this board if you plan on using a higher end CPU to overclock as there is a good amount of cooling and support for cooling.

The mother board is spot on. It looks amazing, RGB is lovely and great connections. But the Asus aura software isn't great. I can get the motherboard doing the lighting that I like but the controls for external lighting such as water blocks and led strips don't always do what i'm telling them to and changing the settings automatically changes things in my BIOS such as lighting up when powered off etc.But they are minor points. The board its self is great, the bios is detailed and it looks gorgeous. Just the software that lets it down

Really great motherboard which I use with an i7 9700K and an RTX 2080 ASUS ROG Strix card. Packaged really well which all the appropriate cables I needed. Very simple to install in my case (Corsair 500D) and looks really good, I/O shield comes pre-mounted which is very useful.I went for the bluetooth version which works very well with my headphones, no additional work needed there. It's a very good looking board, with good quality connections and great RGB.

NO idea why, but I've now given a review on this three times, and still keeps showing up on my please leave a review of items list!Asus is the best, just as simple as that. this is no exception, had used 5 boards in the past, and will keep doing so in future. This latest chipset so I could use the new Intel i5 with the Spector and meltdown fixes in hardware,Now addicted to RGB of well entire new PC now. Not sure if good or a bad thing. but it looks nice.

I recently bought this for my new PC build and its the first time I've installed a motherboard in a long time so with it being an easy to install motherboard with preinstall IO shield made it so easy for me.The UEFI Bios is very easy to understand and set up everything when you first switch on your PC.Aesthetically I love the RGB lights it brings a cool look to my case at night.I would recommend it to anyone!

To start with, check your BIOS version because mine was quite out of date and so had many issues with my pc (BSOD every few hours). Take all the proper precautions and research when updating. Once updated I have not had an issue. Apart from that it is a fantastic board with all the features I wanted. The interface for the BIOS is great, especially the ai tweaker for overclocking.

30.4.2019

I bought the Z390-E version and its great, I love the aesthetics. I haven't had any problems yet (hopefully it stays that way). However, I did get a BSOD randomly when I was working on an Excel document and I performed a bios update (version 602 to 905) and I haven't had a BSOD since, but the motherboard may have not been the problem.
