Ok this is an edit of my original post. Still I think it’s a great board but I’ve found out so much more about it since purchase. I bought this and used 16gb 4266 but it would never run @4266 but @4000 only. I found out that to run at the frequency past 4000 you need to have two kits of memory, so now I have 32GB @4266 and it does run @4266. However I do not recommend anyone use the AI overclocks because this can cause serious problems. I found when I used AI it would start off at a good OC I was happy with but then it would carry on auto OCing and then it gets unstable and causes blue screens. I since have been watching professionals using my board and CPU and I have used manual OCs and they are much better, all stable and no problems and I now have my 9900k @5.2 all cores synced with an AVX offset of 1, and I also have SVID on and use adaptive mode rather than manual voltages, I originally used manual but I found some OCs were unstable and heat would be higher. Where as in adaptive because of the LCD on the board I can see it uses lower volts. I’m not a great overclocker but I do know a bit, for more of the pros out there they could just OC without even thinking about it. But for me I find these settings are more than adequate.

The Asus Hero 11 is a great board, it packs majority of features you could ask for, is very quick, packaged well, comes with many additional cables and has an excellent BIOS and OC facility. I personally went for the non-WIFI version as a separate WIFI card (Asus PCE-AC68) will always provide better performance and if the WIFI card malfunctions I don't lose my whole motherboard. I also purchased a USB Asus Bluetooth dongle separately as the board (Non-WIFI) doesn't have Bluetooth built in. This will cost you a bit more money than buying the WIFI version, however, the performance and reliability outweighs the costs.Only negative, there are not enough USB headers on the board (only 2 if i remember rightly)for Corsair link and funky lighting tools, an additional adapter is likely required (Corsair Commander Pro).Really good motherboard for a decent price without hitting the £500 mark! I use my board with the following:i9-9900K processor, 32Gb 3200Mhz DDR4 Dominator Ram, Nvidia Quadro K1200 graphics card (professional card), Samsung 970 Evo SSD, Corsair H100i Pro AIO, Corsair 860 AXI PSU.

People have covered almost every aspect of this top-end mobo. I won't duplicate all that. However, the most amazing feature of this particular motherboard is that it has 2 NVME m.2 slots, and the built-in BIOS wizard can make them into a RAID 0 boot device! This is incredible and makes the system feel REALLY fast! Effectively, almost doubling the data transfer rate of the main Windows drive; and m.2 is already MUCH fast than normal SATA SSDs.I installed 2x 240GB m.2 drives, configured them as RAID 0 (stripe), all via the friendly BIOS wizard, and now it has a stupendously fast 480GB drive c: for Windows 10 and programs. The Windows 10 installation recognised the RAID drive without the need to source drivers so the process was waaaaay simpler than I expected.I install games etc to my secondary internal 2TB SSD.Great board. Great BIOS.

1st board was faulty for whatever the reason. Just looping and looping, next board arrived, and all is fine its a beast of a motherboard, the oled screen is an awesome touch, with the live dash to customise what is on screen, even write your own text. If anyone gets the cc error remove to sticks of ram, reboot, go into bios flash it do your thing in there (overclocking it) reboot, activate Windows, as I had to just by replacing the board, and chip. Another 219 bill (twat) then add you're next lot of ram to take the 4 sticks. No 55 errors, raided this with 2 NvMe Samsung evov's, and all is working awesome, fast isn't the word. And make sure you DO not over tighten your waterblock,as heard this causes problems too. So 1st board faulty God knows why. Glad I asked for a replacement, as its the best board I have ever owned.

I can't fault Asus on the quality of design, extensive features and ease of installation of their motherboards - the Maximus XI Hero was the perfect choice for someone that wanted high end specs, without breaking the bank, or my PC when trying to put it together. The I/O options are extensive and cater for all my current and future peripheral needs. The instruction manual was easy to follow and I had no problem installing all the components onto the motherboard and then motherboard into my case. The BIOS is easy to navigate along with the installation and use of supporting utilities and drivers to get the best out of the board. All in all this is a really solid product and definitely worth pickingup if you're serious about gaming.

I upgraded from a z370 to the z390 basically to future proof, so i could have the option to upgrade to the i9 series cpu's. Right now, i'm using a i7 8700k, 32GB 3200mhz ram, dual M.2 970 pro's, the system runs buttery smooth no issues at all with latest 1302 bios. Only con with the board is the led's are quite dark. Not a major issue, as its the features that are important. One thing i also notice, when i was previously using the i7 8700k on the z370 my voltages where higher stock and i had heat issues. On the z390 i'm 10 degrees lower on cpu with stock settings. Overall, the maximus code XI is an awesome board, loads of overclocking features and excellent build quality.

I use this board with my i7-8086k CPU and I run it at 5.0GHz all the time with no trouble. My mediocre stick of 2133MHz RAM (stock) is pretty stable at 2600MHz. It performs very well. Also, the VRMs stay pretty cool under load.It also looks great. Even my sort of technophobe mum agrees that the lights look pretty. I'm gonna put it in a better case while waiting for cheaper GPUs to come out so it'll look even nicer. Definitely think this is the best looking board of this lineup. All in all, I'd definitely recommend this board if you have some money to spend on a higher end product, or if you just want bragging rights cause it's quite expensive.

Expensive for what it is when compared to other boards such as the Gigabyte etc with a larger vrm. However the formula has no issues running my 9900k at even 5.3ghz which will be beyond coolable for 99% of us.Other than this it has an extensive feature set. Looks great with quality backplate, shiny panels, OLED screen and rgb LEDs etc. As well as the functional Water-block however it performs fine without. Asus still delivers the best bios out of any available in my opinion and I had no issues setting it up. Was very straight forward and no headaches a long the way.Highly recommended.

This is a great motherboard, very well made and great when powered up - but. Due to the large rear IO panel it doesn't fit in many cases, as many people have discovered. Some people say they've 'forced' it into place or bent their case into another shape or removed the IO panel, I don't think any of this is acceptable, following research, it fits in this case FRACTAL DESIGN Define R6 - its a popular case, comes in white, gunmetal or black with optional tempered glass model with or without USB C support, there are photos of it working in this case and i've now got one too

In my experience, motherboards are always fiddly to install.I've got large hands and arthritis which compound the difficulties.Ive recently totally rebuilt my gaming pc with the upcoming 3080ti in mind.My previous build was an Asus gaming pro. I like Asus so wanted to stick with themOverclocking is very easy via the bios.Layout wise, it's identical to my previous board. Some of the fittings are very tight and anyone with large hands will struggle. But that's motherboards for you.I can recommend this board for overclockers

Right, first thing as many of you may agree? Amazon should stick to reviews ONLY on that particular board you are on-page for! And not show 10 other boards! OK they sort of run on the same basis but we are ALL here for a specific board and not see all other reviews for every other boardI've had no issues With the "Maximus XI Extreme" easy 5.2 and keeping it on 5,1 at 1.28 volts.... Even when electric runs out or power cut board has always sustained info and started right back up. The board is a baby....Never messes up

Solid itx motherboard. Good bios interface and options. Those wanting to turn off secure boot just need to delete the keys. If you're planning a small form factor build with a powerful cpu and limited clearance for a powerful cooler I'd probably avoid it as the massive heatshroud gets in the way of higher end low profile coolers like the blackridge. Whilst this could be removed, it's probably more than a relatively inexperienced PC builder would want to get into.

Can't really see it in the picture.... But amazing motherboard.... Looks cool and performs well... And the Asus bios is the easiest to use so perfect for beginners who aren't used to messing around in the bios... Plus with the asus ai suite software can overclock the system with the touch of a button makes life a lot easier... I'm running Intel i7 9700k at 5.1ghz using the overclocking software from Asus

Amazing for the size. Its running hi spec gaming PC with 9700k, 2080ti watercooled, 32GB DDR4 and 2TB NVME SSD. Works like a dream. Very smooth and no issues at all. Im surprised its so powerful yet compact. Heat sinks are a bonus and you get one for the main M.2. Bios could use a bit of work, but it does the job. No wake on mouse/keyboard from S5 (full shutdown), only from sleep mode.
