This game is in the same style as Pharaoh, with careful resource management essential. It took me a while to get into it, as you have to learn the basics of a good layout for your buildings and industries. It's very easy to run out of building materials early on and be unable to replenish them, so you have to build slowly - I learned this from reading a walkthrough as the game tutorial isn't that helpful. Once I'd grasped the basics I was fairly addicted, but as I have Vista I can't get beyond the first level of the campaign as it crashes - a common problem apparently. However, the game only cost me a few pounds and there's still plenty to do with the 'endless' games - sandbox style - and a series of standalone scenarios,so I think it will still keep me happy for a while, after which I'll move on to the next in the series.

This game is not a 'play it now then forget it' type. I have only browsed on the earlier stages but it would appear to be a game of some depth which requires a thoughtful, steady approach. Your production and related trade links must be developed, whilst your own citizens are also demanding attention. In addition there is the likelyhood of some military activity, to whatever extent the participant wishes to take it. As in life, it is possible to go for the quiet approach, which may see your country sidelined or even 'go under'. Alternatively, a more robust outlook could see you attaining the top dog position. This world is your microcosm.

The follow up to Anno 1402 Set off on a ship , find an island, settle and build up a town. As your colony develops more buildings become available, set up trade routes , but watch out for pirates and the occasional natural disaster. A great bit of escapism with some reasonable music too. If you enjoy this check out Anno 1701 its even better.

the game it self is pritty good but not a game to buy for your first stratergy based game as it is rather difficult to master gold income and land rangement would recormend any of the civilation genres first as thats an easier game o start with but all round it is a well devloped game for novice and above in stratergy

I got this game, because I have bought the anno game titles which came before this one, if you are an anno fan you will like the game, building your settlement and supplying your colonies with your ships.

Good and playable if hard to understand and work out at first. As things move along after initial start it draws you in. Good game
