When the lamp upper is inserted onto the post on the base, it does not create a snug fit. A gap remains between the actual base and the lamp upright, and as a result the lamp has a permanent 'wiggle'., which is irritating. Looking inside the hole on the upright, which slides down over the base post, there is a horizontal pin which prevents the upright from sliding down to the bottom of the base post. It's purpose presumably is to prevent the upright and the base from coming together in a snug fit. It seems like a design failure to me. The solution might be to insert a suitably sized washer, to create a snug fit. The lamp came with 2 grub screws and 2 spanners - spares I assume.I owned an original 1960s Anglepoise,

Over the years I have bought severaldesk lamps and bulked at the price of the Anglepoise original 1227 plus perhaps it looked ‘old fashioned’ fashioned. Finally succumbed and can honestly say, “I wish I had done so years ago”! My desk sits in the darkest corner of the office and I often work late into the evening. With my new super lamp I have s brilliantly lit corner and my lamp is just classic, stylish perfection only drawback! Himself was just the trendiest bit jealous, it was Just what he needed for the photographic side of our work SO! A second beautiful Anglepoise 1227 desk lamp is arriving tomorrow. For me, worth every penny and Amazon price, delivery and on the rare occasions we’ve needed it,

I'm a bit of a long time fan of Anglepoise, the aesthetic design has always been appealing to me, but since buying this, I've realised just how brilliantly the balance of springs and arms is finely tuned to allow perfect adjustment to almost infinite numbers of angles. The chrome one that I bought is very stylish, though I admit that the finish does make it prone to attracting dust but that's a minor annoyance for me personally!If I had one negative about this lamp, it's the grub screw (something you'll notice a lot of reviews mention) - it doesn't hold the upright to the base very tightly, which can leave the lamp precariously swinging after adjustment.

Yet another Anglepoise for the house. Absolutely great lamps. The chrome finish is lovely. The traditional design is the best of the lot but I'm still having to get used to having the on/off switch in the cord, instead of on top of lamp the housing, I bought this to replace a 1980s version on which the plastic connection between the lamp housing and the arm had broken- a common fault, and an Anglepoise design problem on their lamps produced 30-40 year ago.

Unpacking this work of art felt ceremonial to me. This is an absolutely beautiful lamp (as I expected) and I couldn't be happier that after many years of coveting them, I finally have one. It was extremely easy to assemble and was perfectly balanced without requiring any adjustment at all. The finish is flawless, the cord is a generous length (about a metre and a half, I think) and the weight of the lamp inspires complete trust in its sturdiness.

A timeless and beautifully designed lamp. Instantly adds character to any piece of furniture it stands on. The price fluctuates pretty heavily so if you can get it when it is low it is really well worth the money. The quality fo the materials are pretty good and will surely last a long time. I would have liked the arm to be less wobbly while moving as it does make it feel a bit cheap but in reality it doesn't take much away from this lamp.

As these desk lights are supplied with low energy lamps, it is now possible to adjust it whilst it is in use. Hardly evolutionary, I know, but why buy a desk light if you can't use it?My wife suggested that the white version with a red fabric cable looks like something out of a doctor's surgery; so if you know a doctor, here's something to buy him or her for Christmas.I just think it's cool, and with the new lamp fitted it really is!

The most beautiful product, impeccably made and aesthetically pleasing, packaged superbly and delivered unbelievably fast. Anglepoise (and Amazon) I am truly impressed. Clear instructions, bulb included, tools provided, and even a spare grub screw just in case! I'm certainly thinking of buying another one, and I would urge anybody reading this not to hesitate at all in buying this magnificent product!

I was lucky enough to be given an original full size Anglepoise lamp, resplendent in red, for a birthday present 55 years ago. It has accompanied me around the world and across the UK and remains unblemished and functioning perfectly to this day. Provided the quality has been maintained, I would recommend this product to anyone seeking a beautiful and functional item which will last a lifetime.

Would have loved to get a vintage original but not a twice the price after someone has 'renovated' it. So I got a new one. I especially like the black and white zig-zag pattern flex it reminds me of an electric blanket my Nan had she I was a child.Solid construction and arrived very well packaged. Some assembly required but nothing onerous.

I like the design and the finish. Yet, I cannot help but feel the manufacturer could, and should, have done a better job. The lamp just doesn't feel sturdy enough to give you confidence it will weather long term use with grace. For the amount of money that I have paid for this lamp, I should have received a better product, methinks.

Got this for my home office desk as a present to myself. It is excellent and being full-size means it can easily each over my desk and monitor and looks great.As expected it is superbly engineered and is very sturdy.I’ve since bought a matching floor standing version and am about to get bedside versions. Highly recommended.

Impressed. Very stylish. I use it as a reading lamp in bed. I really can't fault it. No wobble, stays wherever I position it. Stay away from the wannabe lamps, they don't cut it. I now have a piece of art in my bedroom. Bought this with a very substantial discount on prime day..... Result!.

I love anglepoise lights but hate LED lighting so was unsure about buying this. The quality of the light (warm white) from the bulb that comes with this light, however, is WAY better than expected and of course it is cool and the shade does not heat up. The lamp looks super-smart too.

The high chrome finish transforms this ageless functional design masterpiece into a work of art. Cannot stop admiring it.Well packed, but needs some self assembly including the springs and a minute and fiddly grub screw. Delightfully useless instructions
