Review as of the new rescale patch release:I had to change my review to a five stars, since the rescale update the game became exactly what I expected. Now it feels like America, long distances, lovely scenery, realistic landmarks like the Grand Canyon for example and very lovely driving gameplay and even graphics could be better, it can be overlooked thanks to the great gameplay.I play it on my Logitech G920 wheel with shifter and its an amazing simulator experience, actually the best on the market.Free updates also contain 2 new trucks for the base game, Kenworth W900 and Peterbilt 389 plus state of ArizonaSo right now the is California,Nevada and Arizona and 4 trucks to play with.My old review:1st of all be aware that the Kenworth W900 featured on some images was included in a patch and is now available in the game in a form of a free DLC, which should be automatically downloaded for your game after installationI have a steam copy of it and just want to write a quick review about this, well a bit rushed out gameDon't get me wrong its not buggy, but the content just isn't there, only two trucks on release and only two states, not much new was added since ETS2, gameplay and core element are almost if not totally identical meaning no tandem trucks, no rigid lorries, no extreme trucking on ice and snow with new physics, well no new physics at all, no interior addons and personalization and many other missing things that would be expected judging by the time it took to make this game.Graphics look a bit better than Euro Truck Simulator 2, but its still based on an outdated (DX9) engine, though it now only supports 64bit systems due to high RAM requirements of the game itself (4GB ram minimum) that allows it to run much smoother with better framerate stability. The scaling of the map areas is very small, so if you used to play a heavily modified ETS2 with large map mods, you will find it tiny at best.It only took me 10minutes to drive half way though California doing 55mph.Arizona state map will be a free DLC as will more trucks as soon as the developers get license to use those trucks in game, but there is no date for that yet and that is the only content promised, so new core elements and no new gameplay changes or addons were announced so far.Not many good mods are available so far either so this game is right now a bit boring empty vanilla game, I found it great at first, but got bored after couple hours as it doesn't bring anything new to the core elements and is low on base content, I rather returned to ETS2 where I have the game full of moded and official content and many things like paintjobs personalized so I feel more home there than in ATS.It is so far the best simulator out there and it has a lot of promise, so I can only recommend it to patient players, but its maybe better to wait and see how this game develops until end of this year.I will be updating my review as this game will be growing

Firstly I play using Oculus rift, a wheel and also the SKRS Eaton Fuller Shifter. This makes this simulator very realistic.I've been playing the game almost vanilla since launch. The only mods I use are Kriechibauns outstanding N14 mod and the MHA map. I find this to be an excellent simulator. Graphically it looks great, The trailer and truck models are very well done I especially like the W900. The loading docks are so much more varied than the bog standard ETS2 ones, I really enjoy backing into the warehouse at Power and Sons in Bakersfield and there's quite a tricky supermarket in Arizona that can be a challenge but that's the thing I enjoy the most.Performance wise the game runs beautifully SCS have done a much better job optimizing it than ETS.I play the game on Max Settings and there is little to no slowdown in cities whereas ETS there does seem to be a dip in framerates when you're in the city.SCS have committed to support this game with new states, new trucks and knowing SCS probably many other little improvements to make it a better simulator. If their record with ETS is anything to go by then ATSs future looks very bright and i'm excited to see what SCS do.I've seen so much criticism of SCS software particularly on their blog but that is unfair and unwarranted in my opinion as ETS2 and in turn ATS is a much better, more realistic truck sim than ETS2 was when it launched due solely to the fact that SCS interact with their community and will try to implement suggestions. I know that people tend to forget how far ETS has come when they're complaining that Rigid trucks haven't arrived yet, or the France DLC hasn't been released or the Range T. SCS deserve credit for supporting ETS2 4 years after release they have given several free trucks Iveco Hi-Way, Volvo FH04, Daf E6, New Actros and the Scania Streamline. They have implemented many nice little features such as tag Axles, Advance Coupling, parking brake sounds, air brake simulation, trailer stability. I think that people need to give SCS credit for the improvements made to ETS2 and in turn ATS and stop focusing on what hasn't been implemented yet. These things will come in time.

Subtle though noticeable step up from earlier Euro Truck releases. Very good, nothing unexpected. California and Nevada also are sure to keep us truckers amused!Lots of visual goodies like static people added to give touch of life to places, and a bit more detail here and there also. Scenery seems generally busier.I'd be tempted to give it 5 stars and it may justify 5 on the grounds simulators traditionally don't have very good graphics, but I guess I just wanted a little bit more. There wasn't anything added to it in terms of a simulation experience (what can they add?). They went down the 'game' route in Euro Truck Simulator 2, if I recall, by adding the ability to manage your own business.American TS is no different. Whether you see the business side of it all as part of truckin' or a gamerish gimmick.... that's up to you. Also, although the price is more than acceptable I think, I got it considerably cheaper off Steam. To end on a positive note though: in all, very good. Fans of previous Excalibur Publishing Euro Truck Simulators will be relieved I think. It's a winning recipe and American Truck Simulator delivers. Does what it says on the tin, with just a little bit more. Enjoy your new terrain!

If you liked ETS2 you'll like this. Pretty much just ETS2 with lots of sand for scenery. Cities feel a lot more substantial in size this time around which i did like as i always felt cities in ETS2 consisted of nothing more than a ring road and a couple of streets. Los Angeles feels like a big city (within reason of course) rather than say London in ETS2 which felt more like a big village. Only 2 trucks available at launch but that doesn't really matter if all you want to do is chill while driving a huge USA-style truck. California and Nevada are the 2 states included at launch (Arizona will apparently be a free DLC later-on)but the amount of road this adds up to is substantial enough to keep you busy and the more iconic cities in those states are nicely represented.

If you love Euro Truck Simulator 2, your going to love this game. It is made by the same people, though ATS is just starting out, it has its flaws like any gane,, But the makers promise all the up grading and updating as they have done to Euro Truck. They said that Ats will be as wonderful as ETS in time. But I love this gamne, it has 2 states so far, California and Nevada..But the Radio player is my favorite, all american stations and some of the best i have ever heard.I recommend this game to anyone who loves to drive and explore the sights.......

It's a great game. The dvd box for the game has a disc in it, a proper manual (rare to find these days) and it's in colour. As an extra there are a few cool postcards in the box with (in-game images of different trucks in the USA). The only negative thing I can say and it is a minor thing is that the letter Y on the my key code looks like a V. The vertical line under the indentation was short. Had to figure it out for a few hours but it's all good.

After playing Euro Truck for a couple of years. I was really looking forward to this American version coming out, after a couple of months & a few tasty mods to improve the scenery, weather, traffic etc. I am loving it, the free Arizona download is very well thought out & I can't wait for more states to arrive.;)P.S. For those who have not had these truck sims before you do need a steering wheel to get the best from them.

If your a fan of ETS 2, then you will notice some small changes to game play. Choosing the difficulty of parking is a nice touch. Would of probably given 5 stars if it wasn't lacking truck options and only 2 states (more promised very soon). Still a great game if you like your trucking simulators.

It's a smaller map than Euro Truck Simulator 2, but there's still a lot of game for the money, especially since the free Arizona expansion. The developer is also in the process of rescaling the map, for free, so it's hard to complain.

Husband is a fan of Euro truck simulator so got him this. He thinks it is great. Good pictures but he says the scenery can be boring if you are driving though a wilderness as all you see is sand.

not a bad game took me 2 days to try and work out the configuration and to make it stop jumping or though anybody with info on how to make it that bit better would be great thanks

Advantages:Great graphics.Great gameplay.Steam compatible.Disadvantages:When more states are released, you will need to pay extra to get the most out of the game.

Have not put it down since a fist bought it, Very addictive. Brilliant graphics, like driving on a real road. Worth every penny.Just one problem, not enough garages.

9.3.2016

This is a great game, it's just like Euro Truck.Although it only has 2 trucks so far it's still a great game.
