I’ve bought many pens from a variety of pen brands in the past and their pens can be very hit and miss. Although when buying this, I had no doubts of not being exceptional quality as I have never been disappointed by the build quality of Waterman pens. This pen is just beautiful. It would make for an amazing present as it comes in a really nice presentation box or perhaps just a nice gift to yourself. This pen would be suitable for both men and women. It does feel thicker in the hand compared to most ballpoint pens but I would say it’s suitable for most hand sizes; large or small. It also has some nice weight to it, which I think adds to the luxury of this pen.The gold trim on this pen really makes it look like it’s worth a lot more than what it is. For the price, you are getting a really good pen, from a renowned brand, that can definitely compete with pens from the likes of Montblanc at a third of the price. This pen will certainly turn some eyes and get attention. It is also just a pleasure to write with. It does come with blue ink so if you prefer black you will need to buy one in addition to the pen.

I bought this pen through Amazon to complement the fountain pen I had been given as a present. The design match is perfect: smart, not over-stated, good to look at.As with the fountain pen, this pen has a good weight to it and is well balanced, That makes it easy to use.Above all, it seems well made. The ballpoint is moved in and out using a twist mechanism. I have experienced actions like this from another manufacturer and very quickly the mechanism gave out - something inside stopped gripping which meant that, no matter how much I twisted it, the ballpoint would not move. On this pen the design is better: the cap grips on with a satisfying click and the whole thing has a feeling to it of being robust and well made.I am anticipating many years of use.The pen arrived in a two-tone blue presentation box with a generic instruction leaflet - superfluous really. The presentation is good which means that it would make a very acceptable gift. For the price (just under £40 when I bought it) this seems excellent value for money. Good value, well made, a fine design - everything is positive. Recommended.

I really like this Waterman rollerball pen. It's big and comfortable to hold, its refill is smooth, but I actually use other refills in it, because I want waterproof inks. The refills I use are Pilot G2 gel pen refills and Uni-ball Signo 207 gel pen refills. They both fit this pen just fine, and are also cheaper I think. The Signo 207 refills might be a little too long, just a few millimeters, so nothing a scissor or pocket knife won't fix. But there's nothing wrong with the original Waterman refills, so if one wants to use the original refills, I'd say go for it.The pen itself also looks very good, it's very shiny with the stainless steel body, and with the chrome trim makes it quite classy, but not too flashy. I think I am gonna get more of these pens in other finishes, they are such fine pens! I highly recommend this pen to others who want a classy, big rollerball pen with smooth refill, by the way I own the ballpoint pen version too!

For many years I worked for a major international financial services company. Our National Sales Director was adamant that well should always carry a very good quality pen. He reasoned that if someone was going to invest a million pounds with us and we handed them a cheap pen to sign the cheque it was very unprofessional.Over the years I've had a lot of nice pens including Montblanc & Dunhill. I've always looked after them, but the top split on the Montblanc and the Dunhill's (at £500 for a fountain pen and ball pen) are really quite poor quality.I've got a number of Waterman Experts and always use them to complete paperwork for clients.I'd guess that at least 90% of the hundreds of clients I've handed the pen to to sign documents have commented on the weight, quality and feel of the pen. I've never had a comment with the Montblanc or Dunhill's.This is an exceptional pen at any price. I've never owned a better quality pen.

I have had this pen dated from 2011, until I lost it recently (I believe a doctor may have taken it!); hence I am re-ordering it again from amazon. One thing for sure is that I get a lot of compliments for this pen; both appearance and its ability to write. However some people has mentioned that it is heavy for a pen.Sure enough I can't complain about the pen. I signed so many signatures with this pen, and even written essays with it. The quality build of the pen is superb. You can buy any Waterman pen refills of any colour and size nib. The pen itself holds its value still, as the price for a new pen has been fluctuating between £40 and £95. When I first bought it in 2011, it had only cost around £30.Just comes to show how popular it is. I'm certain this pen won't disappoint!

I really like this Waterman ballpoint pen. It's big and comfortable to hold, its refill is very smooth to be a ballpoint, combined with the weight of the pen, makes it really easy to write.I have mostly stopped using ballpoint pens nowadays, because of the dry refills, and the fact that one must pressed down pretty hard, in order to get the ink running, but that's not the case with this pen.The pen itself also looks very good, it's very shiny with the stainless steel body, and with the chrome trim makes it quite classy, but not too flashy. I think I am gonna get more of these pens in other finishes, they are such fine pens! I highly recommend this pen to others who want a classy, big ballpoint with smooth refill, by the way I own the rollerball version too!

This Waterman Expert ballpoint pen writes incredibly smoothly. It is very well made and nicely weighted. I Would have much preferred to receive it with black ink present in the refill because blue ink does not photocopy as well. I bought some additional black ink refills and they are well made too. In my opinion, the Waterman product is better constructed than the similarly price Parker Sonnet item. The three year warranty is a measure of the manufacturer’s confidence. If you would like to own a really high quality ballpoint pen; which feels very nice in the hand and is well weighted plus it writes very smoothly, then you can buy this item with alacrity (at this great price £46.53 instead of £78.00)and have no regrets.

I have to admit to being passionate about pens - especially fountain, but I have a small collection of ballpoints. I like Sheaffer and Cross, but would say that the French Waterman company build a better pen. I've just bought a Cross Bailey black lacquer, which left me less than fully impressed, although good value. It was with some trepidation that I ordered this Waterman "Expert" in matte black. But I needn't have worried. It is superb. It is substantial in size, well-suited to my large male hands, weighty, and feels utterly wonderful, having a cold smooth metallic body under its matte black finish. I'm really thrilled with it.

I was very happy with the pen- which is very well weighted, classy, attractive but understated. However, as the person I was buying the pen for took early retirement before I could give him his present, I asked to return the item. The customer service was excellent. They sent out a courier to pick up the item for free, on a day that I requested. Would be an excellent gift for an older man who works in an office or has important contracts to sign. Always best to give the client a real pen when signing! Good for solicitors, lawyers, executives.

This was a gift for someone with arthritis in their fingers, who cannot tolerate a pen that is too lightweight or too slim which makes gripping it difficult. Before buying we tried various makes and styles in a couple of local stores and opted for this Watermans model, called 'Expert'. It is balanced just right, and is substantial enough to hold easily. This stainless steel style with gold accents looks really smart and professional .... just like the recipient.Would definitely recommend this ballpoint pen.

Extremely attractive, wonderfully weighted and very well made, this is a remarkably good pen for the price. It was bought to replace a much loved earlier model of the same pen when I broke the clip after many years' use, and I was a little worried that it might not be made to the same spec. If anything, it's better! The balance is perfect, and it sits ideally in one's hand. The cartridges are very easy to find even when travelling (I don't always carry a spare - where does one stop?!).

What a fabulous pen.My wife has a Mont Blanc and I was in two minds as to this pen or the same as hers but having read the reviews about the Waterman Expert I went for this one. I'm glad I did as it feel like a quality product. It's heavier than the Mont Blanc but I prefer this and also I feel the writing is smoother. All in all I'm delighted with my purchase and I highly recommend this pen if you fancy treating yourself to a bit of luxury.

I bought it and have a try. I didn’t notice any major but when I started to use and having in a normal pencil case with other pens I can say simply great. still as new. good weight and definitely works all the time so no worries that will not work so now has become my companion at the office on the field. Really happy I will go for another one. I wondering if they might have another ink colours apart of black and blue. will be really handy.

I adore Waterman pens, though I normally prefer using the fountain pens this was a fantastic gift for my partner. The thing with Waterman pens is that not only is the ink excellent and writes nicely, but the pen has a fantastic feel in your hand. There is a weight and solidness to the pen that makes it feel substantial in your hand. Once having used a pen like this you will refuse to ever use a cheap biro ever again.
