This was a last minute gift idea for my 6 year old son and turned out to be the best present from his party. I was just looking for a point and click camera as he likes taking pictures when he gets the chance. This is full of entertaining features to make the pictures fun and to let them use their imagination along with games and activities too.Best FeaturesScenes - lots of animated images where you add pictures to create scenes. Best are:thought bubble, rock star and wizard (can see in second picture) they're great for kids imagination games.Distortions - bulge(first picture), kaleidoscope and lots more that are hard to explain make the pictures change shape which is good for quick laughsTwist the lens to go through filters - rainbow and negative are the best.My son was fascinated seeing things in negative and said we all looked like aliens.Image shaker - when in this mode shake the camera to add funny objects when a face is detected in the picture or distortions when no face is detected, great again for laughs.Games - there are 4 games that don't rely on the camera, these are simple to play but hard to master so is great for developing multiple skills and good entertainment too.Good to knowIt takes two AA batteries in the left handle and two more in the right handle. The camera is 2 megapixel and although this is low resolution by today's standards its good enough to print out pictures or display on your smart TV. It has an optional flash, the power turns off after 5mins of not being used, it has two manual viewfinders (like looking through binoculars) but the display screen is easier to use. The memory can be expanded with a micro sd card, I prefer plugging it in to my laptop every once in a while with the USB cable to download the pics to a folder and delete them off the internal memory, without an sd card the camera holds 200 images when using the front camera (lots more when using the 0.3 megapixel rear camera). When taking pictures you have to hold it still until the hand has stopped showing on screen, it takes about 3 seconds, you'll have to explain this to your child or you'll get a lot of blurred pictures. Please click helpful below if my review was useful to you ?

I bought this camera for my 7-year old with the intention of that she could bring it anywhere and have some fun. It's not the cheapest digital camera, but boy, am I happy we got this!It comes with digital wire for file transmission, manual, test batteries (lasted us a whole evening) and a handle you can attach on either side. A Micro SD card may be bought separately; I got the 4GB one as other comments here stated a 200-limit which I thought was too little. The camera quality isn't perfect, but that's ok as she's still in the age of photographing trees and tv's. If an adult is taking the picture: people sitting still, decent lighting as well as standing still enhances the quality greatly. The video quality was much better than expected; the sound and video has very little disturbance and more than enough to play with.It has ALOT of functions and fun factors built into the camera:*Regular camera*Voice recording*Video recording*Various on screen addons (bubbles, stars, different frames, kaleidoscope etc)*setting various head gear (Native american headgear, glasses, Elvis hair etc)*selfie function*Friend pictures where you can have several people insert. This and the frames were our favorite features. You can have as many as 4 people set into one picture, and there's alot of frames to choose from.*Mini games (the sound is adjustable, thank god)The controls are easily learnt, and I absolutely agree with other commenters that the timed auto turn off function is great so I won't have to check that she's turned it off when her attention goes to someting else.Parents: the child will easily discover that the camera has minigames installed before you do! I reccommend adjusting the parental controls which are easily found in the menu so you can control play time (unlimited, 1 hour, 30 minutes etc) I liked the touch with that the parental controls comes with a simple math question so the child can't just click it off again :)

We bought this for our (then) four-and-a-half year old when we went on holiday. We turned off the games, gave him a couple of clues as to how to take and view pictures, then left him to figure the rest out for himself. He spent loads of time happily taking photos of all kinds of things, then he started working out how to add different effects and framing to them, then he worked out that it could do video, and so on, and so on. I must admit that I picked it up and used a few times myself, when nothing else was at hand and there was a moment that needed capturing.Months later, he's still finding new features to mess around with. And we keep finding photos and videos that he's taken when we haven't been around: love seeing him singing along to pop songs in the back of the car, for example, or pulling silly faces. Because he's so comfortable with how it works, it gives him huge scope for creativity. It's certainly true that the quality isn't brilliant, particularly in self-portrait mode. You'll get much better quality from a smartphone, and if your little person has designs on being the next David Bailey, you should probably look elsewhere. But the photos are more than adequate for most purposes...and the upside is that the comparatively low file size means you can fit huge numbers onto an SD card. We've only filled about 5% of the card we bought with the camera so far. (Don't forget to back them up, though.)Overall, it's been a brilliant purchase, doing its job as a camera while also providing all the fun of a great toy.

This is not a proper review because the camera literally only arrived 10 minutes ago but I've had a little play with it and am pleased to report that there is a 'disable games' mode - someone was asking about this I think - and it also has a volume control, because the demo mode (which is what you get the first time you switch it on) plays VERY loudly. This is for my nearly-6 year old and I think he will still need a little initial help getting to grips with it, so although it is recommended from age 3 up, I think most features would be lost on a really young child. The body of the camera is quite large - larger than I expected and actually bigger than my small DSLR but that's probably not a bad thing.Buttons seem to be clear and well laid out, and there is an auto-switch off function for my Mr Forgetful. The camera does come with batteries: 'for demo only' says the packaging but no micro SD card. However, the camera will hold about 200 photos using internal memory apparently so don't feel you have to rush out and buy one. If you frequently download images to a pc you might not need one at all. Will add more once he's had it a while.

Bought for my daughter for her 4th birthday, she loves it. It is robust and easy enough to use that she navigate between the many features herself. the screen is big and bright and the buttons are easy to press. It takes photos and video footage, There are all sorts of special effects that can be added to the photos after or can add she frames/hats/moustaches/silly outfits to the subject, requiring careful positioning before taking the photo and resulting in much hilarity after - plenty to keep then occupied. It has games as well - they are pretty simple but keep her occupied on car journeys. The quality of the photos just ok,not what you would want from an adult camera but sufficient for the purposes that my daughter puts it too.My son has an earlier type of vtech camera which he has had now for about 3 years - it still works well with no sign of wear and tear.It is really interesting to see, after leaving then to their own devices, what they have photographed or videoed. It really lets their imagination run wild - it is amazing how creative they can be with the right tools.

We bought this for our granddaughter's third birthday as she follows her photography student aunt every where and kept trying o use very expensive grown up cameras. She is thrilled with her own camera and takes it absolutely every where and in the space of just over a month has managed to take nearly 1500 photos! It is a very robust little gadget, and considering the price paid it actually takes really nice quality photos. It is really easy to use and she has quickly mastered the knack of switching between the front and back lenses and using the filters and fun frames. It has a very good battery life - we are only on the second set of batteries, and she uses it daily to take photos and play games. It has the capacity to take an SD card if required (not supplied), but the camera holds about 150 photos at any one time so there really isn't any need to waste your money on this. I wish I could give this more than 5 stars, as it really has been the most perfect gift and it has already given our little girl so much pleasure and fun

Absolutely brilliant!Amazing value for money.Set up and ready to go immediately. We bought this for our daughter for xmas and put it in her stocking so she could start memory making from the second she woke up. She loves it. She took it to all our relatives homes at xmas time and has some pretty good photos not to mention selfies. It is amazing to see things from her point of view. Shes only 2 and already gets so much out of it. I cannot wait for her to take it on our outings to the wildlife parks etc.I feel that a recommendation for a memory card would be helpful when buying this product as it was only as we were setting it up for her xmas eve that we read in the instructions a memory card could be used. This is not essential as the camera has good memory but if your using the video on the camera as well it soon fills up. We went out sharpish and got one from the supermarket. No stress but just as a tip for anyone who wants to get straight on with it its handy to have.

That was a truly great pick for our daughter's 8th birthday present. We wanted her present to be a camera, and after spending several hours in discussions and pros/cons analysis, we stopped on this KidiZoom. It has now been two months since her birthday, and we have never had any doubt about our selection since. Besides the camera itself (which might eventually get boring for active kids of that age), KidiZoom features a lot of games and funny sound/video effects. The second selfie camera is quite handy too. All of those help keep her entertained even when there is nothing more to shoot around. At the same time, the quality of the picture is quite decent. The only downside is probably the limited amount of internal memory. We had to buy an SD card on the second day of the use of the camera, but we were kinda ready for that. The battery consumption is quite modest, so we are OK with two sets of batteries for most of our short- and medium-length trips.

Much more than just a camera, having lots of built in effects, filters and games. It also does video and voice recording with various funny voice changing effects. Our 4 year old loves it.It is very robust and chunky, so hard to damage (and ours has been dropped repeatedly as well as surviving getting wet). Camera quality is the only real weak point. It is much worse than most mobile phone cameras. For young children, this is probably irrelevant. Just stick a moderate sized SD card in it and they will quite happily take thousands of pictures of anything and everything! For a camera with lots of functions, I was surprised how quickly our 4 year old figured out how it all works. As well as chunky buttons, some actions rely on shaking the camera. The built in games can be time limited or hidden completely by a parent. Cheap alkaline AA batteries (4 required) seem capable of powering the camera for many, many hours of use.Definitely recommended.

What a brilliant 1st camera. I got this for my grandsons 4th birthday and he loves it. We went to the zoo and he took about a 1000+ photos and had a great time with it. It has a handy wrist strap but if you do drop it it wont sustain much dammage as its so robust. It has lots of features which look fun and a few games that we have not looked at yet. It does need batteries 4 x AA and also a memory card. I got a sanDisk SDSDQ-016G-FFP 16 GB MicroSDHC which did not cost much. The camera also has a double viewer like binoculars which my grandson found easier to use, as well as a screen. It also has a back camera for selfies. I also bought the bag which is worth getting. For the money I feel this camera is well worth it and will keep most kids happy for hours. (lots of pics from inside the car on our journey to the zoo) It also has a cable for down loading the pics onto a computor etc. Hope this helps.

Great present. We gave this to our son for his 3rd birthday and he loves it. Whilst he cannot access everything yet he is able to take photos and see them back. As vain as he is he loves taking selfies and taking it out on trips to the park to take photos of what he is doing. The camera easily connects to the computer with the cable provided and means we can upload photos from a 3 years viewpoint. Batteries last for ages and the memory is sufficient for plenty of photos. the camera is only 2mp however on the small screen they look fine and even blown up are ok.After having this for 6 months my kids older cousins came over and introduced them to the games that are on the camera and it has now got a second life. They are spending forever now recording their voices into some games and playing a car game using the little screen.Good rugged camera that can take a good few knocks.

Bought for my daughter's 7th birthday worried that she may be too old for it...fantastic choice! Didn't take long to find the selfie option and she's now a real pro. The camera has been on a 3 week tour of 5 countries, being passed through the hands of 3,4,6,7 and 46 year old sand has thrilled all! I'm not sure of the quality of the photos once printed, but the process of taking the photos was enjoyed by all, I don't think anyone even cares if they're printed out. I'd prefer not to have games, so luckily I found that you can put a limited time on the games option or turn it off totally. There are so many different functions. It's great for budding photographers who actually enjoy the process and not the product. Our niece now wants one for her 7th birthday. It's a hit all round. Well done Vtec. Oh, and the temporary batteries lasted the whole holiday!!!!

My kid absolutely love it.It looks great, I bring some funny options and It does what it should be. I really would like it to make better quality photos considering nowadays there are cheaper chinese cameras which can do, so i believe it should be upgraded. However, it completely doesn't matter for my kid. Quality is good enough to print some photos to make my son happy - he doesn't care about grain. noise or other bad quality effects. It would be great if they would upgrade it with better image processing unit, because my son is really fast, and he is making photos like crazy, but this camera needs some time to store photos.Overall, I really recommend it. From my point of view, what I would expect from such device for kids i would give it 3,5-4 stars, but I consider this opinion somehow as my son's opinion so i give 5.

I got this for my son as he kept stealing my camera. He instantly loved it, and took just over 1,000 photos in less than 24 hours. Most of them are of the ceiling and extreme close up selfies, but he's got years to practice. It's quite robust, but I would say that the sides that hold the batteries in do come off pretty easily, and are currently AWOL, along with the doors off of Mike Flood's van. The batteries have stayed put despite this though. It has loads of functions and fun things to make photos with funny faces and borders, or different colours. It has a selfie function as well, very popular in our house. It's a proper camera, takes pretty good photos and should really last quite a few years. It's been dropped quite a few times now, but no harm done. The sides are chunky so great for little hands to grip.

Any child would be over the moon to have this camera - it's great that the photos can be uploaded on any PC, just as with any regular camera - you should see the smile on your little one's face, when he sees his photos on a bigger screen - butterflies, birds, cars, friends, relatives and his lego creations. You can even record video clips on it, edit them to make them sound funny, add clip art to the photos, and when you've had enough with photographing, you can play a number of little games on the LCD screen. The camera is simple to use, my 4-year-old son got the hang of it within 10 minutes. It's been well protected with rubber protectors all over the camera, so even if it drops on the floor,it will be fine!We now have our own paparazzi at home, who is extremely proud to show off his photos!
