I have spent much time hunting for the perfect pen for me. My job involves constant note-taking, and these notes are then filed and could be used in court to make me look sloppy, so I am very keen that the pen be completely reliable, comfortable and without smudging. I also like to use nice notepads for lists and the like (currently loving Leuchtturm1917 pads) and I'd like an ink that looks like it belongs there. Finally, I want the pen to be inexpensive, because I lose the flaming things all the time.So, in my experience using them for the past year, Jetstream pens are...RELIABLE- I've never had one that dries up 5 minutes into my writing,returning sporadically and requiring me to draw increasingly angry circles on the page to get it to come back. It just doesn't stop until it's ended and I've usually lost it long before then. At this price point, you cannot take that for granted.COMFORTABLE- There's a slight curve in the body of the pen that eases it into my hand without forcing me to write in an unnatural way. It is covered with a pleasant rubberish coat with perforations that prevents it feeling like you're writing with a tent peg and helps with grip. The metal is probably a bit more shabby and looks cheap, but that's fine by me.DOESN'T SMUDGE- At least not in my experience. The ink seems to dry very quickly, and the pen doesn't really leave think blobs of ink that might be more resistant to drying. I can be pretty confident that I won't find my writing on the other side of the page when I reopen my files or notepad.LOOKS NICE- The pen looks quite sleek really, which I like. But I was more meaning that it writes well. I don't have any particular eye for inks, but lines are the size they are supposed to be without variation and with no ink trails from where the pen is lifted. And it is black, which is as advertised. Enough said.INEXPENSIVE- I buy the packs of 12 at a time, and apparently I lose around one every four weeks. Fortunately, that means I have spent only about 16 quid a year on excellent pens. I should stop losing them, but I don't feel like such a mug. To me, these pens feel and write like a pen worth closer to a tenner each.Now that I've found these, I don't bother looking anywhere else. They have one downside for me- that they are just slightly too wide to fit into the pen loop of my notepad. My answer is to buy a different pen loop next time.

I'll start this with the obligatory, "I'm not one to usually write reviews", arguably this is more so the case for an item as mundane as a pen; yet here I am typing away.I am a lefty and for as long as I can remember have struggled with writing implements, though primary school, university and even in the workplace. I have spent inordinate amounts of money on pens from all manufacturers, testing different grips, inks, shapes and sizes and have never found a product that I could just use without issue. They would not write smoothly, the inks would run out too quickly, inks would seep through the pages and so on.In the end I resorted to using a standard ball point pen,yet even those by the end of the day would leave me with ink on the side of my hand where I had been dragging it across the page.Finally I came across the Uniball Jetstream and thought to myself to give them a go. The article that had directed me here had mentioned they are perfect for lefties and after a quick cost per unit calculation I opted for the 12 pack and crossed my fingers that these pens were as good as I was promised. Thankfully, they are.The ink is smooth, it flows like a liquid gel pen, rather than a scratchy biro, it dries instantly, it doesn't seep through my pages and it doesn't smudge or leave unsightly marks on my hands. To date I've only written 13 double sided pages of text and drawn a few doodles, but the pen thus far is holding up and there seems to be no indication of the ink running out.This pen has made my writing experience a lot more pleasant and while a small victory, I'll take it thank you very much.If I were to nit-pick, I'd make mention of the fact the pen goes from a rubber plastic barrel to a plastic chrome coloured nib. This nib is quite slippery compared to the rest of the pen and it took a little while to get used to the Jetstream since I was coming from the Sharpie Stylo which was a fully rubberised nib. And it should be noted that I can't talk about longevity of each pen, but I've got 12 of them so I'm (hopefully) not going to run out any time soon.

I bought these Jetstream pens after them being recommended by a chiropractor who told me they are the only pens she uses as they continue to work even on surfaces that are smeared with the E45 cream that she uses during treatment.For me, these pens fill the gap between Bic Biros and much more expensive, classy pens. If I lose a Bic Biro, it's not the end of the world. If I lose one of my really good pens, I would be rather annoyed about the cost of replacing them. On the other hand, these Jetstream pens write as well as the expensive pens, but are cheap enough that if I lose them, I would not fuss too much. As a result, I usually have one of these on me, and others on my desk.They normally write really well, with far less pressure than a Bic Biro requires. They're great value for money, and they look far better than a Bic Biro.These pens are retractable, with a nice click. I do also have non-retractable Jetstream pens that have lids instead. I far prefer the retractable ones - the lids are actually quite hard to get off of the non-retractable ones. So, for me, these retractable pens are my preferred ones. Beware, that if you give them to somebody with the nervous habit of clicking pens, they will not stop with these pens, as the click is so satisfying![Note added Feb 2014] Whilst doing a landscaping course, where various students needed to mark pieces of wood and metal whilst preparing to lay foundations and concrete for a path, nobody had anything suitable to make the marks. I pulled one of these Jetstream pens from my pocket, and it wrote on both wood and grubby metal, no problem at all.Recommended.

I work in a hospital, and always ALWAYS need a pen. There are never any spares, and if you do find one they're horrible and broken and impossible to use.I've gone through phases of pilot hi-tec C's and many others, but since picking up a pack of these from Staples, I haven't looked back. I'm never without one now. Taking notes in lectures, seminars, conferences, writing in patient and hospital notes, these are really versatile pens.Why?They write at just about any angle, on slippery paper, notecard, uneven thick sketch paper, magazines. The ink is heavy and very opaque, and dries extremely fast to avoid smudges (big problem with the ever-popular felt-nibs). The tip doesn't clog, skip, stick,scratch or slide. The pen body is comfortable and tough, doesn't crack or split if you sit on it or leave it at the bottom of your bag. The ink reservoir is large, and lasts for a good month or two of heavy use.It might be a bit sad to get so enthusiastic about a particular kind of pen - but this one genuinely makes my working day so much easier, and is everything I've been looking for for ages. Some might prefer a smaller nib size (1.0mm is kind of chunky) but despite my tiny handwriting, I still find the nib really easy to control, much better than any gel-rollers such as the pilot G-2 series and much smoother than a felt-tip.Of course I always keep a rubbish, broken nearly-dead bic in my pocket as well, just so when somebody asks me "Do you have a pen?" I can pull it out with a smile, and keep my jetstream safe from forgetful colleagues.

In every review I looked at this pen was either top or near the top. I wanted a pen that I could rely on, that would work when it was called on and, more importantly, looked good when I whipped it out. It is probably the single most handsome 14cm (7-1/2") piece of rubberised plastic I own. The pen is very reliable (I bought the 12 pack) and from the first "click" the ink flows reassuringly steadily with no smudges.So.....to hold, the pen is very comfortable. It is well balanced and the rubberised coating gives it an assured grip. When the retractable tip is depressed, it drops firmly into place and locks with no play in the pen or tip.At the bottom of the rubberised outer are 4 vertical strips which allow you to view the ink cartridge and see that you have a level of ink to start any long missives with, without having to unscrew the nib and take the pen apart.In my view, this is an excellent pen which offers great value for money, and should be at the top of any list, for anyone who wishes to write using a finely engineered tool as opposed to a keyboard.

Ok, so I am that guy that tries every pen in the shop to find the nicest one. Having found it, I now buy them in bulk here. I always carry a couple and people have a habit of not returning them when I lend them outOr feels nice to hold in the hand with the solid rubber grip. It's bulky enough to feel solid in the hand without being too big. Right writing is smooth and reliable and the ink dries more or less straight away.I have had a couple stop working when still quite full. In this case, a small air bubble is visible within the refill. The mexhanical weak point is near the top where the rubbery shaft turns into a plastic top. If you're careful you cab still use it after this fails,proving you haven't lost the bits. These failures don't happen too often though and my main reason for replacement is usually less rather than failure.

I bought this pen on the recommendation from the Wirecutter site. I am very pleased with it. It gives a solid black line of rollerball quality, but it dries quickly and does not smudge. The ink does not clump like other gel pens (I'm thinking specifically of the G2 here).I have just been on a week-long course, where we were in lectures for 13 hours a day. I filled two 240-page notebooks and used up an entire Jetstream. My hand did not cramp like it does with a biro, and the pen never varied in its quality. Ink flow was consistent until entirely empty. Another key feature for me is that the ink did not show through the thin notebook pages, which I have found to be a problem with other pens.Excellent pens at a reasonable price.Will be buying a 12-pack when these run out.

On first use, I was happy with the pens incredible smoothness which felt second nature after regular use. I specifically purchased this pen to be able to write fast which it does well, although I feel as if I could reach the same speed with other pens just with more effort.The pen does an almost perfect job of inking but it does miss occasionally when you start a line which is noticeable. The ink does smudge but it's also dark and readable. The only other issue is the ink runs out quicker then expected after a couple days of heavy use and its not refillable, wasting a lot of battles. The product is great for its function and it's perfect for every day carry.

Honestly the first pen I have ever sought out and bought, after years of pen-scrounging; stealing from banks, friends, work, etc. I know appreciate the value of a quality mid-range pen. Long-gone are the days of scratchy, leaking Bic biros.Box of 12 should last a while, although the ink flow is pretty heavy. This pen is extremely slick to write with. If you have difficulty with messy handwriting this isn't the pen for you - but if you're proud of your dyspraxic scrawl then buy this pen.Such a good pen that I had an anxiety-fuelled nightmare about being in an exam room without a Uni-Ball SXN-210 Jetstream RT. Hail Corporate.

These pens are fantastic. I write a lot in my everyday life, both teaching and researching Mathematics. Therefore comfort, reliability, longevity, value for money and a good 'feel' are all essential ingredients in a good pen. These ones write smoothly, last for ages, clip easily to anything and I can honestly say that I don't write with anything else unless I have to.Is this over-the-top? Probably. Is this pen going to change your life or 'the way we do business'? Erm...no and no: it's only a pen after all!But what you can expect to get from an everyday object like a pen, you get with the Uniball Jetstream. Happy Writing!

These pens really are great. A little on the thick side with nice rubber grips, a pleasant finish and appearance, and usable clip are all nice features but what really defines them is how smooth they are to write with, very pleasant indeed. One of the few disposable pens I've bought and managed to hang onto long enough to run the ink dry, although I have also given a few away to colleagues who borrowed them for one reason or another and were hooked :) A great buy and well worth the amazon click instead of hoking through pens in a stationary shop, or impulse buying rubbish, more expensive pens at the supermarket.

I am a left handed writer and have bought numerous specialist pens over the ages. This pen (SXN-210) has a really great feel to it in the hand, making it a pleasure to use in long university exams or assignments. The ink flows easily with little resistance on the page (something I particularly like) compared to a normal gel roller or biro. I find the non-smudging ink extremely helpful for my particular writing style where my hand drags across the page. This is such a nice pen that I would recommend that anyone left or right handed should buy at least one and just to try it.

I will admit to being a snob when it comes to writing implements. As a professional administrator I needed something that worked and didn't fatigue my hand. The larger barrel on these Jetstreams fits my hand. I have always found these pens to write on whatever type of paper I need them for. So I have only written with Jetstreams for the past 5 or 6 years. When people borrow these pens they always remark on how well they write. You can't do much better and they are worth the extra expense compared with the cheap throw away pens that are so omnipresent.

I have never written a review of anything in my life before but these pens are SO GREAT. I am left handed and these are the best pens ever. It isn't a like rollerball ink pen which even the 'smudge proof' ones I smudge all over the page. These are like regular un-smudgable biros but the ink is so black it looks like a roller ball ink pen. Also I find with regular biros I have to press so hard but these show up much darker than your average biro but with a fraction of the effort. Will never use a different pen again, thanks!

Started by purchasing a pack of 3 of these a number of months ago. They were so good that I went for the bulk purchase!My son is left handed and has struggled for years with messy work and getting very frustrated when his hand smudges his writing. These pens dry so quickly that he can now write and there is not a single smudge in sight! His work may still be messy - but that is for a whole different reason now!Great pens and I would heartily recommend them for any left handers.
