Two Worlds got a bad rap upon release and poor reviews, causing many gamers to dismiss it in favor of more popular open-world RPGs such as Oblivion (or more recently, Skyrim). But if you like visually pleasing, single-player, open-world RPGs that you can lose yourself in for hours, and you have a decently powerful PC for gaming, you should really give Two Worlds: Epic Edition a shot. Some people just can't get past its quirks, but if you can, it is a surprisingly great game.I myself thought the game was a dud when I first started out. The character creator is absurd and pointless, the opening music and cutscene are both laughably bad, and movement, combat, and controls all felt clunky when you first begin play. But the game’s biggest crime is that it makes such a poor first impression. But be patient with this game – give it a chance, and have a sense of humor about its clunky opening. Once you start exploring and get into it and it all clicks into place, the experience really opens up and rewards you.THE GOOD:- Great graphics for a game from 2007; perhaps they were overhauled for the newer "Epic Edition," I'm not sure. If you have a powerful GPU and a lot of RAM, pump the settings all the way up. This game can really shine visually at the highest settings, rivaling Skyrim, and there’s tremendous detail in the equipment, weapons, etc.- Huge, huge, fully explorable open world. Not only is it considerably bigger than Oblivion or Skyrim, it has a slightly better sense of "scale." Distances feel more like real distances -- a journey through a new meadow or up a mountainside or along a beach, takes a little time. That weird tower in the distance? You can reach it, but you can't just zip over there -- it will be a journey you have to invest in a bit. The often hilly terrain keeps each twist and turn of the landscape feeling new. After a certain point, aspects of the world design do get repetitive, but Two Worlds is mostly very successful feeling really huge and fun to explore. Generously peppered teleports allow you to re-traverse explored areas without too much tedious backtracking. (Make sure you get all 3 teleport stones from the mage in the first village -- these will be invaluable).- Excellent loot, and an excellent, Diablo-style looting/crafting/stacking equipment and magic system. There are literally thousands of unique items throughout the game, and when you find items of the same kind, the game allows you to "stack" them, which means combining them for a slightly more powerful version of the original. The same goes for spells, and spell boosters. This mechanic keeps looting in the game addictive and fun, because even repeat finds have some value.- Nice skill/development system: it has some quirks and weaknesses, but there are a lot of weird little skills and specialties you can explore and level up. Some of them are more interesting and useful than they might first appear. The game gives you a lot of freedom in how you play.- Regular rewards: you're always either finding new items/treasure, finding new locations, or obtaining a new level and receiving more skill points. The game's tendency to continually reward you makes it hard to put down, and appealing to pass time with.- Interesting combat: Not perfect (see further down) by any means, but there are a variety of interesting things you can do, skills you can apply, and approaches you can take to combat in this game. I like focusing on archery, which eventually allows for interesting tricks like multiple arrows fired at a time, "disarming" arrows that can knock enemy's weapons from their hand, "piercing" arrows which can punch through one enemy and continue on to harm those behind him, and more. But there are many other very different options to how you fight.- General charm/personality of the game: what at first seems like tremendous flaws (the bad voice-acting, the corny cut-scenes, etc.) over time become, oddly, a big part of the game’s charm. Your protagonist is kind of a selfish jerk, who will make odd comments and little one-liners to himself as you journey – and these becomes genuinely funny and endearing over time. I liked his company as I traversed the world. If you sort of embrace the game’s general cheesiness, it actually becomes a fun part of the experience.THE BAD:- Enemy AI: There's no question it's bad, and once you get a couple dozen levels under your belt, the combat can become quite easy. Enemies are predictable, mindless, and easy to manipulate. It doesn't bother me personally much, but it is what it is. I think you’ll enjoy combat more if you think of the game like a more sophisticated Diablo, where enemies are more like cannon-fodder than challenges.- Questionable combat mechanics: This ties in with the enemy AI issue a bit. There are a lot of interesting things you can do in combat, as I’ve mentioned. However, there are also elements of combat which remain laughably clunky, like aiming missile weapons or magic. The combat to me is mostly really enjoyable, but there are some buggy and clunky aspects to it, no doubt.Overall, while absolutely, admittedly flawed, I have always viewed Two Worlds as a game that got unfairly thrown under the bus. If you love free, open-world RPGs, you really should give this a shot, and it’s usually available very cheap.

First of all let me say that the previous reviews of this game are quite unfair. I enjoyed this game from start to finish. I'm sure if like me you love RPGs then you'll love it too, despite the few short comings that the game has.The graphics in this game are amazing (just wait until you come face to face with a dragon!), the quests more than plentiful. The action takes place in the 3rd person, and one thing I especially liked is the ability to fight from horse-back which is great fun. Armour sets are abundant and you can make better armour out of two pieces of the same item. You can also enchant a weapon yourself without having to learn how to do it or pay through the nose to have someone doit for you.Short comings: You can complete the main quest without completing that many of the side quests (but if you are a side quest junkie like me then who cares?). The language is to say the least archaic and takes a while to get used to. The cut scenes are of poor quality.I ran the game on a quad 2.4 GHz, 4 GB RAM, Nvidia GTS 8800 graphics card (Windows Vista) and the game ran like a dream in the highest resolution, totally reliable for weeks on end.I'm sure I'll play through this adventure again at some point, learning a different set of skills and being totally evil next time instead of everyone's friend. For around £5 for a game of such quantity and scope ... its a bargain!

Okay, I received this game fews hours ago and let me just start off by saying this. THIS GAME IS AWESOME!Graphics are 4/5 (Depends on your PC the graphics could look even better)Soundtracks 3.5/5 (They're good but I've heard better soundtracks from other RPG's)Storyline 4.5/5 (It reminded me of the original Fable game for the original XBOX)Gameplay 4/5 (Its not hard to learn how to play it but when you do its really fun)Replay Value - Moderetly highSo far this game sounds good right? You bet it does! This game has huge enviroments such as THE ELDER SCROLLS series, awesome gameplay, and its pretty much a really great game for any RPG fan. I highly recommend this game. If you're unsure about buying it,trailers and gameplay footages are available on youtube for anyone to check out before buying (just like I did).P.S. REMEMBER THIS! YOU NEED TO HAVE AN INTERNET CONNECTION TO ACTIVATE THIS GAME!What do I mean by that? You will only be allowed to play the demo unless you activate the full game version using the internet connection.

Decent RPG similar to Elder Scrolls series (Morrowind, Oblivion, Skyrim) . Horrible/laughable dialog but you can right click mouse to get through it quickly. Standard PC keyboard / mouse controls (which is good --- I hate controls adapted from Console Platforms i.e. original Witcher and Fable III) . Adequate combat system (click the mouse in the general direction of your enemy). Quest log is functional. Map system pretty good. Fun to explore the landscapes which are well done. I like the variety of weapons armor you can collect.I'm not sure how old this game is but I'm reviewing in 2014 and so the game is currently at $4 so it gets 4 stars because I've already gotten my $4 worth even thoughI've only completed 10% of the game. One thing that is really really bizarre --- there are no women NPCs and no children NPCs. Apparently this is a fantasy world where full grown men are spawned from the ether. Actually there is one female --- the main character's sister who so far I've only witnessed in cut scenes.

Dug out this rather old RPG game, found it very moreish, and have now spent many happy hours on it. Although I've recently played the excellent sequel Two Worlds II, I found that the original has a very different look and feel to it (more like Divinity 2).Two Worlds is a very big open world game with a variety of terrains. The graphics are still very good although understandably not quite as good as those of more recent games, e.g. its sequel. There's tons of quests, lots of combat and magic skills for replayability and a wide variety of spells, weapons, bombs and traps to play around with. Lots of levelling up providing regular opportunities to upgrade skills. The game can also be played on a PC using an Xbox controller (need to download the Two Worlds control panel). However, using all eight D-pad selections in combat can be fiddly. All in all, I'm finding Two Worlds to be an addictive, enjoyable RPG romp to repeatedly dip into.

Brought this game as i used to have the xbox 360 version a few years back.I just hankered to play it again. For a fiver your cant go wrong, Epic edition too!!The graphics still look ok but a little dated and the auto save can be a little annoying at times as it stops for a second or 2 at random just to save, Even in battles. But apart from that the game is great. Easy to follow and loads of action, Loads of leveling up etc. I must of done 25 hours on it so far and still got tons of quests to do and still got about 70% of the map to explore.......... So over all for 5 quid what a bargin. Just hope that Two Worlds 2 is as good

Having been a big fan of the Elder Scrolls adventures. I was looking for a game in a similar vein and Two Worlds is certainly that! A pretty good game that was very enjoyable. Graphics were pretty good, and the game flows pretty well. My only gripe with the whole game is that whilst having numerous side quests, the main quest is a little daft and almost an after thought! You can quest you way through the game and end up at the final scenes with a choice of good or evil! Unfortunately its a big bag of so what! Overall i enjoyed the game but the main quest was rubbish!

This game is very addictive. It is a little hard to not get killed at first, but with a little patience and lots of saving your progress, it soon becomes a lot of fun. This is an open world RPG. The graphics are a little outdated, but I have never cared about that as long as the game content holds your interest. I have not run into any glitches as of yet other than the sound volume seems to change from one area to the next. If you love basic old hack and slash type RPG's with lots of quests and exploring, then you will like Two Worlds.

I really enjoyed this game, good graphics and plenty or role playing to get stuck into, not forgetting the hilariously bad voice acting! You get to love it though, and this for me was one of those action RPG's where I just wanted it to go on and on.Now very cheap and this includes some add-ons which I have not played, but this represents excellent value for money if you enjoy third person action RPG's.Well recommended.

If you love epic hack and slash, this game is sure to please. I have never seen a game with a world so big, or so well made in any other game. I found the weapons system totally unique with so many possibilities for weapons and armor that you could replay this game again and again. It has a couple of online servers that I am just beginning to explore, but the PC only part is great!

Another game I've played a bit of but really haven't had a chance to get really into it yet. Installed under Steam with no problem and cranked up and ran right off the bat. The game looked very good. I went thru a bit of the intro and to the first part and then had to stop as time pressed me. Not a bad look and feel for the time I spent in it. Not Bad.

I really liked this game so when I saw this epic version I snapped it up. However, the extra gameplay, above what you get in the original game, is all online as far as I can see. As I do not play online it was a complete waste of money. It would be no big deal for the makers to put that fact clearly on the front would it?

8.8.2011

I bought this after seeing a friend of mine playing it and to be honest i regret not buying it earlier i spent many happy hours playing this game as various ingame characters however it does not like windows 7 so take heed, if you have xp operating system i would highly reccomend this game totaly enjoyable.
