I too fitted mine in the dry, on my drive. Easy to fit, once I realised that I had accidentally got the chain the wrong side of one of the handgrip ends. It says 12 seconds on the box, per chain of course. I reckon with practice and on a cold wet tyre, you could do that, but realistically, I'd allow a minute or two, depending on where you are when you put them on and conditions etc.Yes mine too were loose at the bottom when first fitted, BUT, after one revolution of the wheel, they felt as tight as any of the Weissenfels I've had previously. They're never going to tighten until you drive off.The fact that the tensioning is achieved by using your foot to push the pedal down, is a bonus,as even a relatively weak person can do it. I found removal, following the instructions, just as easy. I've not driven on Snow with them yet, but see no reason to believe they won't be as a good as any others I've had.Oh, and if you're umming and aahing about whether you need any, the first time I used Snowchains in anger, was between Chipping Norton and Banbury in Oxfordshire. The second time in Devon, on the A380, and I was the only car moving :-) I buy mine for use in Scotland primarily, but it's great to know that you're covered in Winter, wherever you are. If you can't afford chains, get Snowsocks, but they are a bit of a sod to fit sometimes, and aren't as good.

Had various cheapo chains over the years.Usually difficult to put on when you need them, when you are stressed, at the road side, snowing, cold hands, possibly dark, family in the car etc.I've ended up using chains every year for some reason or another and I'd had enough.Decided to splurge on something better and decided to give these a try.I had to use these and can vouch that these are pretty foolproof and quick to get on and off.I only needed them for 100m of road that the car wouldn't go up on the day we were leaving so don't know how they would fare on a longer run.But given how these took about two minutes to get on I feel vindicated in my purchase.Wish they were a but cheaper.I paid 195£ three weeks ago, but today I can see they rose to 225£. Other wheel sizes are half the price so I guess I'm unlucky.Recommend testing getting them on off at home. I didn't understand how to release the tension to get them off initially. So read the instructions and watch bids, and try yourself before traveling.

I found these to be incredibly easy to use compared to traditional chains. They are well made and the bag they come in serves as a kneeling mat, with clear instructional graphics printed on it so you are never fumbling for the manual (not that you will need it once you have had one practice run).I feel they are expensive for what they are, hence only four stars - I find it difficult to accept the addition of the sprung mechanism warrants the hefty price hike over standard chains - but in freezing conditions, as your fingers start to numb and the snow is closing in, and you are stuck on a narrow mountain pass and all you want to do is get back in the warm car...the rapid-fit mechanism comes into its own - and at that point you are glad you spent the extra money.

After seeing the advertising movies I was sold on the concept; However ..... Its not as easy to use as I was expecting, Installing these is easy! Removing them is another matter. The fitting is so tight that getting the inside hoop back over the tyre is to say the least awkward. You have to make sure that none of the chains are underneath the wheel and tyre. Perhaps I was expecting just too much. For your information I am using 225 50 17 tyres on my Peugeot 3008. Hope this is of interest.

First time we have had to use snow chains "in anger" when stuck behind other cars who were failing to get anywhere in a minor blizzard up the mountain.....and within about 60 seconds each side, they were on!Do take care to ensure the sides are pushed towards the inside of the tyre, and they work an absolute treat!Make sure the bar is vertical when you want to remove them and they are just as easy to whip off.Best investment you can make if this is something you may need!

over the years i have had a few differant types of chains but these are the easiest to fit, they say 12 seconds i would allow about 1 min per side,no kidding, these are a seriously simple on/off chain,Thule quality shines through with 5 year guarrantee fantastic as is the grip

Very, very easy to fit and slightly harder to remove (you have to align the wheels correctly). They provided superb grip on treacherously icy and steep roads. The case is well designed and doubles as a kneeling mat. I will buy another set when I change my car.
