I am going away for a couple of weeks this year and I also go sailing - so I was considering a new sailing bag. For sometime I've used my wheeled Antler holdall, which is great on flat clean surfaces, but not so good for carrying (stairs!), or indeed inside a boat due to its rigid base.I was originally thinking of a Gill or Musto (well known sailing brands) until I hit upon these duffels. I've now bought a Large size (sailing involves wellies, big waterproofs, sleeping bags etc - bulky stuff, if not that heavy), and I think it will be great for general travelling as well. The quality of construction looks top notch. I got this in Jan 2020, and I believe it is the new version (the previous one did not have normal carry handles)- this has proper carry handles, a large separate zipped compartment on the end, rucksac straps, and external straps for cinching down the entire bag (rather than straps inside that only ever press down on your socks). It also has a zipped net compartment under the lid, and an internal unzipped one at the end. There are no feet or other sharp things that may mark car seats, so it will also be my preferred bag if I know it will be thrown on the back seat. It also comes with a net bag for storing it in - it folds down pretty flat, so you could even take it within a piece of luggage, or collapse it at your destination, unlike a rigid bag.It looks like I've ended up with a bag that is a good contrast to my wheeled bag, and which I can use for all kinds of travel, including sailing, skiing, camping or car tours. Hopefully it will last a very long time, as realistically I will not be dragging it on a sledge in the Arctic, although it feels like it would take it.

I started with the medium, continued with the small and ended up buying the large size of the same bag as well (which is the one I'm reviewing here).I have a couple of duffels but this bag from The North Face is just perfect; sporty, sturdy, plenty of space, a lot of comfort, quality and details packed. I will say that the price you pay is justified.I no longer know what's the story here (if The North Face released a new model or something better) but this one is worth every penny; it looks good, it works well and will last me forever (I hope). One good question I got from a friend of mine: "After all these shiny duffels of yours will no longer be new and great looking, what will you do?".So funny of her to corner me like this.

This is a really tough bag, and suitable for expeditions or just travelling. The backpack straps are sufficient for carrying across town, can be made better if you fit it with a small locking strap to keep the shoulder straps centered. I've been using cheap bags when trekking with porters up in the Hindu Kush - now have a couple of these, haven't used them on a trek (only for ordinary plane travel) - but am confident they will stand up to the strains of an expedition much better than the gear I've been using, bags that cost a lot less, but are prone to splitting exactly when most inconvenient.

It does sometimes feel like a lot of The North Face products are over-priced but I’ll be honest, you get what you pay for with their duffels. I’ve had the XL for a few years and it’s served me well so I fancied something a bit smaller for more regular use.Extra details such as the little pocket on the short side and the build quality remind you why you pay for proper kit.Only downside is there is no short, central carry handle and the only handles are on the short ends or the rucksack straps to carry on your back/over the shoulder.Despite this, I strongly recommend.

Very solidly built and durable duffel bag which isn't the lightest but feels it will easily last the rigours of many adventures! Grab handles are well positioned and while the shoulder straps are not suitable for extended day use they are perfectly fine for getting from airport to hotel etc. Used with Amazons Gonex packing cubes (Set of 9) as they fit the bottom the the large size perfectly. With this really comfortable when used as a backpack and the compression straps used to remove any slack in the main compartment.

I am sorry to say that after the package was delivered to my front door step, while I was at work, it was stolen.Pretty bummed about it, as it was to be my birthday gift. This is the first time this has happened, hopefully the last.Bag had great reviews online from various sources, including product display on YouTube, and outdoors sites.I gave the five star rating, as all the reviews seemed to indicate that it would have been an epic bag, which I had planned to take kayak camping.

Decent all-rounder. I went for the small as I have another similar one that's 50L and ends up hurting the middle of my back when there is a substantial weight in it. Currently, I store my resistance bands and other pieces of workout gear in it and it is grand. The khaki green is really nice! It's not ergonomically designed. It doesn't pretend to be something it's not. It's just a good grab-and-go bag.

These are tough, spacious, comfortable to carry and good value. I’m pretty sure this will be my first choice for many trips for years to come. The large size is ideal for a week skiing.I would have preferred handles instead of daisy chains on the side because grabbing is something I do often to bags, whereas lashing them onto camels etc. is more of a special occasion for me.

Bought for a forthcoming trekking trip to Himalayas . Very commodious. Well made . Material very strong and sturdy.Straps strong , hold well and don't slip. Bought from Bags Paradise .Delivered promptly - no problems. Subsequently bought a second smaller one - from the same supplier.

I bought this after my last backpack died and I'm a long term traveller. I wanted something durable, no complicated pockets and front-packing (because it's so much easier!).This is the perfect size at 70L, water resistant and it goes well as a backpack.Very happy with it!

Perfect size for everyday use - out in the wild or the gym (which for some is the same)!Quality is amazing, like most products from The North Face.I did ordre the sand-camo (as in the picture), which did say it's green; it's not. Its sand-camo!

These bags are so so good and durable that I have three of them in different colors, makes it easy to find what I'm looking for. These will go around the world with you and last many years for sure!

Used up Kilimanjaro for a 7 day treck. The bag itself was exceptional but a little on the small side to carry everything. If buying again, I would go for the 120L and use travel organisers.

I've had several of these bags over the years and they never dissapoint. Always L size although I do have a rarely used S size that is fine for an overnight away

Solid, flexible bag, which can be worn occasionally as a backpack, which is ideal for adventure travel. The volume is perfect for at least 2-3 weeks of vacation
