I bought the monkey suitcase for the three year old and the doggie suitcase for the 19 month old for our first big vacation and plane ride. The kids loved playing with these around the house in the days before our trip and to my surprise, they both trotted along in the airports pulling these cases along behind them. It was too cute and they got lots of attention for being such adorable and responsible little travelers. For the inevitable moments when it was necessary for me or dad to carry these, we ended up extending the handles on both, placing them back to back and grabbing the tops of both handles by one hand. I don't think we ever bothered with the carrying straps on the back at all.I loved having the kids' items organized and easily accessible underneath the airplane seats. And stuffing the toddler's suitcase full of diapers and changing necessities eliminated the need for a diaper bag. Yay! I think I read a review or two that were negative regarding quality and construction but I disagree with those reviewers. I feel like these are well made with nice details. I'm hoping we'll get lots of use out of them in the next couple of years. But even if they're only used for one trip, they were worth the cost for us. Plus, my three year old is now sleeping with "monkey suitcase" in his bed so I guess his is pretty much priceless at this point.

This is the almost-perfect weekend bag for a two year old (and maybe a different-year-old, but I only can go by what I know, and I only have a 2 year old, so this is the only experience I can really share). I love that the handle doesn't fall down into the luggage when she is pulling it (it might later on, though, once it gets some wear - you know how those handles get). And I love that it is lightweight and easy to roll/maneuver for a two-wheeled item. And it's super cute and matches the backpack I got her (aka the new diaper bag).My two gripes:1) When the suitcase is unzipped, the flap won't stay open, so you can't prop it. It's the way the zippers are not unzippable all the way back, preventing the flap from staying propped open like other luggage.2) The zipper is hard to get around the little "ears". It would be better if the ears were behind the zipper and not in front of them, as you have to move your hand around them a bit, else you will get slightly snagged up on them. The zipper itself doesn't catch on the ears, but your hands will. Hard to explain but just trust me - it's slightly annoying.I'm still glad I made this purchase, though, as this is cute AND the only non-corporate-endorsing logo'd (Barbie, Elmo, Cars, etc) one I could find. And my daughter says "hoo hoo" every time she sees it. Which is pretty darn cute, too.

Our three year old loves her new monkey roller bag. It's a really nice size--big enough for all of her toys for the trip, her little brother's toys, two blankets, and two stuffed animals. And she gamely pulled it through much of the airport (there was a learning curve--we had to keep repeating "the monkey needs to face up" "the monkey needs to face up") We don't use the carrying strap on the back--we just carry it by the top handle or hang it from the stroller. The wheels are not inline skate wheels like on a high-end adult suitcase, but given the amount of weight they have to bear, they do just fine. The side pockets are nice for in-air drinks. If I had to pick a weak link, it would be the handle. It feels just a little bit flimsy. That said, it definitely held up to the abuse so far! The handle doesn't lock open or closed. With an older child, or if you plan to check the suitcase, I suppose that might be a bummer. But with a preschool-age kid, it's nice to not have to help her raise and lower the handle. Overall, a really high-quality product!

Got this for my 20 month old and 3 year old for overnight trips to Grandma's house and my 3 year old will use it next time we fly to hold all of his belongings, plus sippy cups, snacks, etc for him and his brother. Basically a bag for all that they need for the flight so I have more space in my diaper bag. I love Skip Hop lunch bags and these are great just like the lunch bags. And they are not tiny like people say. This is a huge backpack-- so not like the typical little toddler backpacks. It's a little smaller than a carry on suitcase. It could easily 3 pairs of shoes, a few books, a hat, and 3 changes of clothes plus much much more. How big does a kid's backpack have to really be when they are toddlers anyway?I got the monkey and the puppy and the boys love their backpacks so much they put their toys in them around the house and wheel them around from room to room. This is a great investment and is holding up well with how hard they are with things. Please get it if looking for a rolling backpack for your kids. You won't be disappointed.

The size of this backpack or luggage is perfect for school kids K-2 or as an overnight bag. I also think a 4-year old could handle it easily. However, my third grader is a bit tall for the handle by 2-3" (she's on the taller side for an 8 year old). We bought the matching lunch box which fits in nicely as well as school papers and a change a clothes for after school. If you have a lot of books to carry or heavy items, it my fall apart faster than if you are just carrying lighter weight items. Not a scientific fact, just my opinion. The zipper has held up after a month of school, but talk to me in January to see how it is doing. As for the colors and image of the owl they are true to the picture and definitely better than the overly commercial products some kids use. I would say that an 8-year old is probably the limit on the cool-factor, after that it might be too baby-ish. I gave it a 4 stars only because it isn't as sturdy as the heavy-duty ones for a similar price. Overall, this is a good buy and I would recommend it to a friend.

We've had this for a while now and my 7 year old son uses it for all of his overnight trips as well as a carry-on for airline travel. It's held up very well, the zippers still work, wheels are rolling good and the handle goes up and down easily. There's a strap on the back so you can sling it over your shoulder if you need to. And I love that the strap has a holder and hook so it doesn't drag on the floor when not in use. My daughter has a different brand of rolling backpack and the straps on back are mangled from being dragged across airport floors as it's rolling. It's the perfect size for packing for a long weekend, and holds quite a bit actually. The side pocket holds his large water bottle and the front pocket holds a couple of small books and his kindle or his bathroom stuff. The main pocket is also large enough for notepads and large books which is great when using it as a carry-on.Overall, this is the perfect little suitcase for kids and is holding up better than the one I purchased for myself.

my 2.5 year old loved this for our international trip. I packed 8 lbs worth of stuff (could have fit much more but I figured that was a good weight for him to handle). It’s a perfect height and he can easily turn it, put the handle up and down, and stand it up when he stops walking. Plus he loved the idea of having his own luggage. Our rule was: you can’t walk without your monkey bag else it will get left behind. (Honestly, it did get left behind twice, but that was probably our fault and it’s so distinctive that airline staff can find it easily!) We did take a stroller along too so that at times when he’s not having it, the monkey backpack can ride on the stroller or attached by its carrying strap.Cons: like others have said, the handle is not really long enough for an adult to pull it, but there is the red strap on top to carry it by. Also, our nose came off somewhere on the plane, and I can bet the eyes would too. But all in all, I’m super satisfied with this buy.

I bought this for an airplane trip with my three year old. She was able to pull this all on her own. We have the matching backpack, and with the two, it really made her easy to spot! Once she figured out that the wheels needed to be on the ground, she was on her way! The bottle holder is longer than the one on the little backpack, so it will hold a taller bottle. I brought an empty bottle and filled it at a drinking fountain. The bag was large enough to pack:Two Dolls (because you cannot play dolls with just one)A swimsuitTwo swaddling blankets (one tucked into the seatback pocket and under the car seat to catch falling toys, the other to keep her warm)Three warm weather outfitsToothbrushes,Pony Holders, etc. There was room to spare. The bag was just the right size for her to handle, but also had a strap in case parents needed to pick it up.Overall, a great bag!

We have only had them a short while, but upon inspection I they seem to be very well made--of course they are not made like something meant to be used hard--they were under 30.00 each! (This comment is meant for someone who seems to imagine they are buying Samsonite). I intended them to be used as "Go to Gramma's" bags--and they have served the purpose with flying colors. The kids are SO proud of them! I couldn't get my 3 year old grandson to even unpack it! Everywhere we went this weekend, the suitcase went with us--for ice-cream--to the book store--to Playzone. They are almost as cute as the kids themselves! I say, get off your wallets, buy them and stop expecting huge results for moderate amounts. The wheels, straps and handle remain intact!Grams

I bought this for my three year old; it was gotten with the intended use of going to Florida for vacation this year. She likes doing things like Mommy, so I thought giving her luggage to pack some clothes and toys in would be a perfect way to make her feel included. Right now, she's been taking it back and forth to her grandmother's house. It holds a surprising amount of clothes. I believe I've managed to pack three week's* worth of clothing with some room to spare. The suitcase itself it's insanely cute. It's easy for her to pull behind her, but it does occasionally tip over and get dragged behind her. The parent strap isn't hard to adjust or work, either.I think it's more than worth the money.*I can pack six weeks in a carry-on for an adult.

I'm a nanny, and I got this little suitcase for my little guy. We all went to Hawaii recently, so he was able to take his own suitcase! He loved pulling it in the airport on his own! (He is almost 2-1/2 years old, but quite tiny for his age.) He did get tired off and on from pulling, and we just simply carried it by the handle. It does have a shoulder strap on the back, but I found it easier to just carry by the handle. It held most of his stuff for an 8-day vacation. Love the zipper pocket on the front and the big compartment on the inside. Easy to pack and open! I highly recommend it! I won't post a picture of him using it, since he's not my own kid.But I can tell you he LOVES it and even pulls it around the house all the time!

I purchased the Owl backpack for my daughter, which was absolutely adorable and she loves it, so I thought this would be a perfect piece for her. She started wheeling it around the house as soon as we got it out of the box. She is almost 3 (a bit over the average height) and it is a perfect size for her, as long as it isn't too heavy. We have been using it to travel between our houses and it holds about a weeks worth of clothes. Haven't taken it through the airport yet but I have very high hopes it will work just as well. It is great Skip Hop quality and the wheels have withstood the current wear and tear.I would recommend this for anyone who travels and their child is interested in wheeling their own bag.

When I first got it I thought it was too small, but turned out to be just the right size for my four year old. We went on an international trip that involved airplane, train, and many walks. My son pulled it around without a problem and felt very proud that he's taking on this responsibility. The parent strap doesn't quite work very well, but an adult can easily use the strap on top when necessary. Fit about 4 outfits and one pair of snow boots for my 4 year old. The front packet fit some crayons and two books for airplane. Can easily fit under airplane seats. especially love the side pocket that snuggly fit my son's water bottle. He practically pulled it around everyday.

My son loves to roll his grandmother's suitcase around when she visits, so I bought him a suitcase of his own for his last birthday. He loves this one very much. I love that it is the perfect size for him to help with his own luggage while still being big enough to hold enough clothing for him for an entire week. Additionally, the pocket on the front is perfect for small books or smaller toys, and the side pocket provides added space. He has a matching backpack as well. The suitcase is well constructed with a strong pull handle. The base of the suitcase allows for steady upright standing as well. The colors are bright and cheerful, and the material is easy to keep clean.

Great sturdy perfect size for my little 5 yr old boy whos goes to pre K 3 days a week and on those school days must bring, to & fro, his blanky, his lunch box, extra clothes & shoes. THeres even a place for his water bottle which leaks if its not standing upright so the side mesh holds the bottle in place and makes a great addition to this "for kids" school/luggage bag. Everything fits which makes leaving home and then leaving school so much easier regarding packing up everything which use to take alot more of my effort and time. My boy even likes to wheel it himself which is a nice change for the better. Highly recommended.
