I have had this lens now for slightly over a year before I decided to write this review in order to be honest as I can.Now at this point when I read some of the bad reviews about sharpness, I can only assume that they got a a flawed version as I found my version was at its sharpest from F4 to F13. Now on saying this, I always use a remote wireless trigger to take landscapes. In this modern world, its like everything, you will get brand new cars off the line and you can have problems with one more than another these day. With Amazon though its a simple solve, if your not happy, they will replace it. I personally have had a year to check out the lens and to be honest, Im over the moon with it but again thats my opinion. In fact I was so happy with it, I bought a filter system for it.The minor bad points, it would a slight Vignetting but nothing that most ultra wide angle lens have. Just a touch of a button in post sorts out. The other thing, it is heavy but once you take it out a few times you get used to it.Another important point is because of its size, you might have to rearrange you bag as it is also beefy. Its the sort of lens you only take out if you know your going to use it.Now I hope this review helps some of you out there who are pondering on it and as I say, it did my trick very nicely.Below are some of the images I took with it.

Read the reviews on sites like photographyBLOG and others. Even the partisan ones that are fiercely loyal to Nikon have to admit that this lens is at least as good, or better, than their brand equivalent. The detail is stunning, as you would expect from a lens from this focal length. The VC is great - indoor shots that were not available, and outdoor landscapes that need a bit of light are a breeze now. Edges can be a bit iffy, but theres no lens that can better this anyway (I have prime lenses at the equivalent focal lengths, and they're not really that much better here. I seem to get the best results at about f5, but it's brill at all focal lengths.Having said that, it is big - but so is my D800,and you're never going to get it into any pocket anyway. For me, anyway - as I'm only amateur - this is a good buy, and it has been great fun for me since it arrived.PS. I have always been scared of buying Tamron as in the past their quality control has been questioned. Thats why I buy on Amazon, as returning it is really easy if you do get a lemon. Having said that, I also have the 150-600, and that's perfect as well (even more fun than the 15-30) - consensus is that Tamron have finally got their quality control sorted.

Took sometime to micro adjust and to find the image style, contrast, saturation, and sharpness, that allow the lens to perform @ its best.Have used the 15-30mm mainly at 15mm f/6.3 for room shots of a project. The lens is sharp, colours are good and have no problem with Adobe camera Raw CS6 were I can adjust anything from Lens distortion White Balance, sharpness, Luminosity at 300%.The Tamron 15-30mm took some time to micro adjust and find the Image style, saturation, sharpness.Raw files in Adobe Camera Raw CS6, you can adjust anything, Distortion, White Balance, sharpness, Luminosity e.t.c.It took me a long time to discover what a Gem, is CS6/Camera RawI got the lens for shooting interiors with available light,- adjust White Balance first.- Results are very goodRaw Files in Adobe Camera Raw CS6, a Gem of an application you can adjust anything.Showed some photos to friends who remarked on the clarity, colour and sharpness .The Tamron 15-30mm is a little heavy to start with, but you get used to it.On a Carbon tripod must open the legs wider to feel secure. nino a.nino a

Bought this last month to use on my D810 after searching for a fast superwide zoom lens. Things to note...1. It's heavy. Adding this to my already hefty camera made the overall load quite a challenge for all day work. And because I'm always nervous about toting heavy lenses on camera bodies, I tend to carry the lens not the body (to take pressure of the lens mounts etc.) and this makes it an awkward carry for me.2. No chance of a front filter.3. The hood is non removable.4. No tripod mount bracket.Non of the above is meant to be a bad mark against this ace of a lens. Just nice to know. The lens focuses silently and quickly. The stablisation is great and the overall feel is just plain quality. The images I'm getting back are great.Centres are crisp and corners only lose out a little, given the zoom range and f2.8 throughout, this is one awesome piece of kit.Maybe there are other lenses in this bracket that are as great as this one. I'm confident this one will not disappoint. Totally 5 stars

By far the best wide angle lens for Nikon on the market. Beats the 14-24mm Nikon which is much more expensive.Sharp, fast, beautiful colour depth. The front element is convex and initially I worried about scratching it or banging it on something. Firstly, it's hardy and the entire thing is built like a tank. It's heavy and solid, weighing close to 1kg. I personally like this. It's a something to lug around for a day attached to a D810 but the results are always worth it. Always.I've been blown away by this lens since day one. The image stabilization is incredible. I take handhold shots around 1/10 with ease. I've taken shots whilst crossing the street at night: sharp.Lastly, the lens hood isn't removable but if you want to use neutral density filters you're going to need a system like the HAIDA 150 SERIES FILTER HOLDER. I paired the lens with this for incredible results.

Great zoom range, solid build, big aperture and sharp images. This is my new favourite lens. Distortion is present, unsurprisingly given the zoom range, but well-corrected. Like all super-wides, people in the edges of the frame appear flattened, but the 15mm focal length gives you a bit more opportunity to keep people away from those edges and, if necessary, use the lens correction tools in your chosen image-editing software without leaving odd shaped blank patches at the sides of your picturesThe lens is large for its range, but not too heavy. Subjectively, I thought it was lighter than Tamron's 24-70 but it isn't by some margin, so it must just be better balanced on the camera. If I have a criticism,it's that when carrying the lens on a camera without its cap, it is too easy to touch the enormous front element, unless you set the zoom to 30mm focal length.

IMO, this is as sharp and even excels the 14-24mm from Nikon. Massive beasts of a lens as others say but quality matches the bulk. I tend to be a fan boy with my gear and keep cameras matched to the manufacturers lens. On this, I read a lot about the Tamron and decided to go with it and have not been disappointed. I use it wide open at 15mm, the reason you buy wide lenses and it is sharp across the whole image, minimal if any distoration or CA. Very impressed and the image quality is superb. Money was not a factor in buying but getting the best bang for buck optics was. So glad I have this 15-30mm in the bag. Cannot recommend it enough. The superlatives and positive reviews on this lens are correct - use and be blown away.

This is a great ultra wide angle lens. I recently moved to a full frame camera and I did lots of research on the EF lenses I'd need to buy to replace the EF-S lenses that I owned. I owned a Sigma 10-20 UWA which was quite soft and relatively slow but had a brilliant field of view. The Tamron 15-30 has an equally brilliant field of view but is much faster (f/2.8 through the range) and not soft at all. Yes, it is relatively heavy, but something this good wasn't going to be light. I love it and highly recommend it.

The brief experience i have had with the lens is all positive, star fields are crisp with none of the excess distortion that I have seen in other lenses, where the stars turn into 'seagull' shapes (coma) towards the outer edge of the field.Daylight shots are nice and contrasty with good colour. The lens feels well made and the AF is quick and quiet. The stabilisation system works well, looking forward to getting more use out of the lens.

I bought this when it was first released and have found it to be an excellent quality wide angle lens. Its built like a tank and quite heavy but the quality is very evident when handling it and ive been very pleased with the photos that it creates. It sharp even at the f/2.8 extreme and is good in low light levels too. I like the colours it captures too before any lightroom tweaks.

Looking for a wide angle but not fish eye and without too much distortion? This is for you. I've tried the nikon 14-24 and this beats it for both sharpness and barrel distortion . Sharpness is second to none (with a tiny af fine tune on my cameras) and distortion very minimal and easy corrected in lightroom. Well worth the purchase.

You can find many reviews of this lens, stating it's good. I agreed. It's a bit heavy and unhandy, but really sturdy! Sharp pics. Really lives up to expectations. Not the best travel lens due to size and weight. If you use filters, it's not the best. Regular filters won't fit. You have to buy an expensive third party solution.

Apart from it's heaviness (yes it is a monster of a lens ) I love this lens. Build quality is excellent. Focus is fast but not lightning fast but there is a lot of glass to moove. It's even sharper than the competition. No filter thread though but I think Lee filters are working OK.

It was a toss up between this and the Carl Zeiss 16-35 F2.8.The Zeiss was more than double the price and the image quality I believewasn't as good.I am so glad I chose the Tamron, it performs amazingly well in low lightand the picture quality is just sublime.BUY THIS LENS !!

This is a fantastic lens for the price; it's up there with the best in its class. If an ultra wide angle zoom lens is what you need you will not go far wrong should you purchase this beauty...........heavy it is, but aren't all good lenses.
