Star Wars: Empire At War is a thrilling RTS experience and one of my favourite Star Wars games of all time! This special edition Gold Pack includes the Forces Of Corruption Expansion which not only tweaks the gameplay but adds another playable Faction as well as further units for both the Rebel Alliance and Galactic Empire, such as the B-Wing fighter and Grand Admiral Thrawn, to enrich the strategic appeal. There are three game types on offer. Campaign allows players to either conquer or free the entire galaxy planet by planet, winning both space and land battles to control each world, while collecting precious credits in order to finance the military machine necessary for success.Galactic Conquest includes several different starting scenarios and is more open-ended than the Campaign. Skirmish Battles are a single encounter (land and space options are available) and it is even possible to play Online as well. The battles obviously make up the main part of the game and are splendid RTS affairs. Space and land combat offers different unit types but follow a similar pattern. We gain credits which are used to build military hardware, call in reinforcements when required and maintain our base structures. Land bases are protected by an energy shield and flagships serve the same purpose for the space chapters. Loss of the base spells defeat or victory whenever we destroy that of the enemy. There are dozens of units to create and send into combat and a unit cap to ensure fight do not become too unwieldy. The forces available include icons from the Original Trilogy of films (such as the X-Wing and Probe Droid) and who can possibly resist controlling several AT-ATs with flanking AT-STs and sending them lumbering towards the enemy? We can also recruit powerful heroes – everyone from Emperor Palpatine and Mara Jade to Mon Mothma and Obi-Wan Kenobi – to assist in the struggle, too.Key to successful strategies is knowing the strength and weakness of each unit and how to exploit their opportunities. While the Tie Bomber is good against most types of Rebel corvettes and frigates, for instance, it is easy prey for A-Wing and X-Wing fighters. Therefore a protective squadron of Tie Interceptors is always a good idea in this case!Graphically the game is brilliant. The animation is detailed and smooth, even when zoomed in to the maximum level, while the action rarely slows down even when lots of units are fighting onscreen. Likewise the sound is very good and includes not only music from the films but authentic sound effects too!The Gold Pack is without doubt the definitive edition of the game and is not only a major title in the Star Wars franchise, but an outstanding RTS treat in its own right!

To be sure this is a great game and one you can certainly lose hours on. Who wouldn't want to build the Death Star and then start blowing up Rebel Bases?Having said that after your first few games and you've got your head around the various functions of the game it does become a bit easy to win.Regardless of which faction you play as the computer is far too easy to beat and there does come a tipping point when its painfully clear that the computer cannot hope to turn the tide which turns the game into a boring mopping up exercise for you the player - sorry but if your playing as the Empire don't expect the rebels to suddenly blow up your Death Star at their final base! Its a great game don't get me wrong but after playing it many times (and it does take hours and hours to complete)I have never once when playing as the Rebels or the Consortium had to face a Death Star or any other Super Weapon/Ship belonging to another Faction as the computer never sees fit to build them.Personally the game was better as simply the Rebels and the Empire, there just isn't enough planets/resources to support all three factions and give each one a fighting chance, the tipping point I mentioned comes all too soon for one or both the computer controlled factions.

Actually not much. Its a good game which stays true to the movies yet allows you to move outside the cannon (IE as the Empire you can win) which is great - there is nothing more depressing playing for a side predestined to loose. Graphics aren't quite what you might expect but they don't detract from good game. Like most RTS games there are certain units that are a little too strong but not quite to some of the excess of C&C. Besides who cares when you can go blasting planets with the Death Star!!! (queue "Evil laughter" as the emperor is prone to do)

This game combines both star wars empire at war and the expansion forces of corruption. The game is a mix of star wars galactic battle grounds and games from the total war series. It has simiular domination featurs as total war games but it is not turn based like total war games. It then uses tha battle features like star wars galactic battlegrounds to create a good mix of tactics and action. Overall i gave this game 4 stars as it could be improved in various areas and doesnt quitw match up to the scope of other games. All in all though a good buy.

This game is amazing in every way! It was the leading game of its time with the new style of gameplay, with unique designs and game development, this never ending fun-filled glorious star wars creation gives the player an amazing gaming experience where you are in command with huge amounts of starships and land forces, fully customisable battle skirmishes within it allow the player to enjoy their game as they want to play it, this game guarantees 100% fun and satisfaction! A MUST PLAY! xD

I remember playing this years ago and seeing the trailer on the Revenge of the Sith special features, i wanted it and then got it. I bought the game again yesterday (5 - 6 years after i last played it) and its as good as I remember it! some great mods for this game as well as it being an amazing base game. The expansion forces of corruption does not work properly on all machines anymore but you cannot complain about the price of this game. Really good game!

I have owned Empire at War for several years, and only recently did I decide to buy the expansion. It was well worth it! It adds a lot of new content to the game, and some of the new units and heroes are remarkable. It provided me with hours of gameplay, plus a lot more form the galactic conquest and skirmish features. If you thought that Empire at War was good, you'll love this! It runs fine on my PC, which isn't exactly state of the art either.

Star Wars Empire at war is a very fun game to play the campagin takes a while to complete which is good. The space battles and ground battles are very exciting to play and fun. The expansion pack is also very good it is different from the main campaigns on Empire at War and includes new heroes and units. The only thing what could be improved is that graphics but to be fair it is a very old game which is worth the price.4/5 Stars

An older RTS but one that is still enjoyable. During the "Forces of Corruption" campaign you will see many classic Star Wars units such as the Nubian star fighter from the Phantom Menace episode during the initial missions and the Desert Skiffs from Return of the Jedi feature as a new deploy-able unit.It does look bit dated, but the graphics aren't all bad and the Conquer the Galaxy option is tons of fun.

If you like Real Time Strategy games this game has it all. Not only do you get to play Star Wars it has such variety from planet management to space battles. One thing I liked was the battles can be watched though a battlecam that switches between cameras. If you like RTS games and Star Wars this is a great game even though its geting old now.

I once owned the base game of Empire at War and thought it was an ingenious combination of land and space based combat. The expansion is everything that it should have been and I would recommend this game to anyone who has a taste for complex RTS systems of something a little bit new.

I got this for the expansion as I had the original and I'm not disappointed. Very good strategic gameplay with a depth that's rarely found in RTS titles. If you're a strategy fan and/or a Star Wars fan, get this game. End of story.

This game claims it works on Windows 7 64 bit... well that's only half right. The first of the two games 'Empire at War' runs perfectly with no trouble, but the expansion 'Forces of Corruption' needs a crack installing.

7.6.2014

is a good game, it has cool star wars bits but also works well as a strategy game by itself. I fear it may be a little dated now but i still thinks its a good game as it has good fundamentals.

What a great game for Star Wars fans, but enjoyable for anyone who likes this sort of game. All the classic vehicles are yours to use and pit against each other whichever side you choose.
