Squawk: The Egg-Splosive Chicken Game is a variation on the ‘How much more can this poor creature take?’ principle behind Buckaroo. The poor creature in this instance is a hen and the abuse inflicted upon her is having her squidgy body poked and prodded by the players. How many times the player gets to press the chicken is determined by a roll of the die. When the bird can take no more, she lays an egg.Unlike Buckaroo, that’s not the end of the game – just the end of the round. Each egg contains a disc, with a chick pictured on one side and an egg yolk on the other. If the disc lands chick side up (as opposed to sunny side up!), the player collects a token from inside the hen house. There are six tokens in all, and the player with the largest hoard of them at the end of the game is the winner.Whenever the chicken lays an egg, she rises up out of her house, which collapses. This needs to be reset each time. Small children may need a grown-up to help with this. Before you use the game for the first time, you will need to spend several minutes affixing stickers to the disc and the tokens. Why these couldn’t have been stuck on by the manufacturer I don’t know – but I suppose that if you have children who like using stickers and have a steady hand, they might enjoy applying the stickers.Small children (age four upwards) find the chicken’s shocked expression, squashy rubber body and loud noises great fun. She gives a short squawk (like a squeaky toy) each time her body is pressed and a really big, long squawk when she lays an egg. If rolling the die tries the patience of very young players, they can simply take it in turns to poke the unfortunate hen – there is a sufficient element of chance just doing this, as she doesn’t lay an egg every time she is pushed.Teenagers and adults tend to get quickly bored with this game and find the loud squawks annoying. However, the noises can be useful if grown-ups need to be in another room (while preparing dinner, for example), because they will still be able to hear what the kids are up to!

This is a Marmite game - some will love it and others (mostly adults I suspect) will hate it. The chicken reminds me of a dog's chew toy but the noise it makes is absolutely awful and brings to mind perhaps a chicken being strangled or something just as bad. That being said yes you have guessed it, my Children absolutely love it and find the horrendous squawk hilarious, add the fact it lays an egg and its a winner game in their eyes. My Husband and I hate the noise but can see the funny side and our cats evacuate the room as quickly as their little paws will take them! The game is simple and easy to set up. There are a few stickers that need adhering to the barn part's flat eggs and also to the circular egg inside the egg that opens, then the other parts are just attached to the main chicken base. To play you pop the egg in the hole under where the chicken sits and then snap the arms together to hold the chicken in place. You then take it in turns to throw the included dice and the number it lands on is the number of times you have to press the chicken (and the number of times it makes the horrid noise). If the chicken doesn't lay the egg then play passes to the next person and so on. When the chicken lays the egg you open it to see if it is egg side up or chick side up and if it is chick side up the player collects an egg shape from the barn. You carry on until all the eggs have been collected from the barn and the winner is the one with the most.Despite the awful noise the rubber chicken makes this is actually a fun game and my Children have really enjoyed it but surely a better "squawk" noise could have been made to save our ears?

This game is great fun for children to play together or with their families. it is quite simple to play but perhaps doesn't have a huge amount of replay value.Setting up the game, for the first time, is fairly simple and with adult help can be done in a few minutes. It features a rubber chicken sitting in a plastic barn, on top of a plastic egg. Players take turns pushing down on the chicken, when released the chicken makes a very loud squawking sound. The chicken will randomly, every few turns, burst out of the barn and 'lay' the egg. If this happens on a player's turn they get to crack open the egg and a counter drops out, if the token shows a chick - rather than yolk and white - they get to take one of the six tokens from the walls of the barn.Play continues until all six tokens have been one and the player with the most is the winner. There is no skill to the game, which puts every player at the same level and it is, as such, very much a game of luck. There are also no complicated rules to learn, also leveling the playing field for all ages.Where the generations might differ, is their tolerance for the squawking sound made by the chicken, every single turn. I, at most, could manage a couple of games, as they can last up to ten minutes.

If you're reading this, then you too have likely wondered what it's like to stamp on a chicken so hard that it propels an egg out of its rear. That's the gist of this game, squeeze the chicken until it squawks with agony, forcing out an egg which you then crack open before its very eyes, hoping for a token. Whoever gets the token wins, but no matter what, Mother Clucker loses. My kids had a similar game to this a few years back, except the abused creature in question was an elephant or a hippo. That game was more difficult to play due to the animal's tough exterior - no amount of beating would encourage the prize to emerge, yet at times its chest would horrifically explode open and expose its insides before we had even touched it.This one seems to work better and is simple enough to set up and execute. Our kids have had a great time playing it, laughing each time they squeezed the hen's torso, giggling as its painful emissions slowly began to grate on me. The noise it makes is funny at first, but it seems to get ever more high-pitched and pained - coupled with the haunted look in its eyes it can make for a traumatic experience. Still, it's good fun as long as you try to block out the yells of anguish.

The game was easy to put together, make sure you put all the stickers on and in less than 10 mins you are up and running. The basic game centres around winning as many tokens as possible by rolling a dice, clicking the chicken down the number of times shown on the dice and at random the chicken will lay an egg, the egg cracks and if it lands egg side up you win nothing, chick side up and you win a token and go again. This game is noisy!!! Clicking the chicken makes a small noise from the rubber chicken but when it lays the egg it makes a really long elongated squawk, if there are people in the house who arent playing they will almost likely get annoyed with this, however for those who are playing its a riot!!!!Its not a complicated game, my 5 year old and 9 year old had this in seconds and loved it, it was a welcomed distraction from Fortnite! and they wanted to play again and again. This will be a good one to come out with kids through to grandparents as its simple daft fun which transcends generations and brings the family back round the table for some good old fashioned time together.

If youve ever seen the advert where the Grandma buys kid a toy that makes a loud squeek that gives the mother a nervous tic in her eye then this is my experience of this game! This is definitely aimed at younger kids, but not under 3's due to small parts. It took me 5 minutes to set up. Setting up is an adults job, i dont think a kid could squeeze the chicken into the base.Pros- kids will love it, its simple, makes you jump, is noisy and parents will hate it-Game play is simple and even the youngest should be able to take partCons-the noise is awful, make sure you have ear defenders!-you have to take it apart to store it-it has small pieces with nowhere to store it as it wont fit back in thebox and anyway the box has a big hole in the front so you'd loose the egg and its token.-Kids wont be able to assemble the game before play or put the chicken back after it springs open. Its a bit of a fiddleKids will love this game, parents probably wont get it. I dislike the fact storage is a problem. we end up loosing parts of things if there is no box to put them in.

Just the sort of game that younger children will enjoy playing on a rainy day. Our grand children and niece seem to really enjoy it. Mainly it seems because of the squawking noises the chicken makes. If you're in the room and not participating in the game that squawk can soon become truly irritating. So my advice is leave the room. That aside it took me a few minutes to put construct the game as it come needing some assembly, particularly around the chicken house. Not especially difficult but perhaps best done by an adult. Beyond that the game itself isn't particularly difficult to get to grips with. Really just a matter of throwing a dice to determine how many time you can flap the chicken's wings in the hope of it laying an egg or two when flapping. Then depending what eggs you do win you get to keep whats inside. The aim being to collect more than your opponents. More luck than skill I believe. At the end of the day the real fun for the kids of course is getting to make the chicken squawk.

This fun board game is for ages 4+ and for 2-4 players. The squawking chicken sits in the henhouse and you throw the dice and then push the chicken for the amount of times shown on the dice. Eventually, the henhouse pops open and she lays an egg. You are meant to crack the egg, although we found that often it cracked open on its own. Should the egg have a token which is chick side up, you get to keep the token and the player with the most tokens at the end, wins. This is a nice, simple game for young children. My nieces and nephews loved playing it and it doesn’t take long to finish, so will keep young children entertained, without them losing focus. On the minus side, the noise the chicken makes becomes intensely annoying – not to young children, but even my eleven year old daughter was irritated by it and, for adults, well, you won’t want to play this too long! Still, if you want a board game for young children, which will keep them amused and is easy to play, then this does work well.

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed playing 'Squawk' with our three year old granddaughter, mainly because she giggled endlessly whilst pressing the chicken's chest and hearing it squawk. She also squealed in delight when the chicken laid an egg. Brilliant. The chicken and henhouse are fairly well made and robust. It takes a while to set this game up for the first time and it can be quite fiddly to put the various stickers in place. However once it is set up it is a simple game to play. Basically you throw the dice and press on the chickens chest the number of times shown on the dice. If you are lucky the chicken will lay an egg and you get to crack it open.Inside each egg is a small disk if it falls chicken side up you get to keep the token. There are six eggs and six tokens and the winner of the game is the player with the most tokens. This game will appeal predominately to the younger player (three to six years of age), any older and I feel the child may get bored.

Pros: My kids were SO excited about this game. It's a cute idea. You push the chicken down, and randomly, it'll pop out the egg from below its body. "Crack" the egg, and you see if you get a chick! My kids played for a long time, and they enjoy the game. I like how it's good for all ages, since there's no reading required. It was easy enough for my 8-year-old to set up by himself.Cons: The chicken is really loud. It's not so bad in the game, but when it's out of the hen house and can be squeezed at will, it drove me (and the dog) crazy. It also doesn't fit back into the box very easily once it's all assembled. Either a wider box, or a way to store the die inside the game itself, would be helpful. It's also hard for little fingers to snap the chick pieces into the wall of the hen house, but my kids solved that by just leaving them in a pile next to the game. This game is so darn fun. The whole family has enjoyed playing it, not just our son. It’s can be a pretty long game depending on how the egg cracks. I like that because the game has managed to keep our son’s sustained attention throughout the duration. I Attribute that due to the sillyness of the chicken. It is both auditory and tactile stimulating. The chicken can squawk rather loudly just like a real chicken laying eggs. Our son has compared it many times to our live chickens in the coop. He enjoys playing the game so much, he even tries to play it with his 9 month old brother. He plays for both of them as our baby just laughs every time the chicken squawks. It’s an excellent game that has provided our family with lots of laughs. Definitely a winner and a game that is picked often to play. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

We had lots of fun playing this silly game when we got it. My 6 year old loved the funny squawk and the silly chicken as it spit out or laid eggs. It was really entertaining for short periods of time. Since you only had to get 4 of the 6 chicks to win it was easy for my son to figure out that the game was finished when you got close to 4 chicks. For us that happened pretty quickly. However after a break he has gone back to to several times in the last few days that we had it. In short we enjoyed this very quick and fun game. It was really easy for my 6 year old but still entertaining because it was so silly .The only thing that I found that was a con...it is kinda hard to reset the chicken and the "coop" does not like to stay in place while you are playing. It keeps falling down. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
