Before I start, please note that I already have the 100-400 and needed something for extra reach. There are many excellent reviews on YouTude and on the net - if you are looking to buy this and want to research it then they are good resources.I have used this on my camera as a 200-600 and with the 1.4 converter too (makes it 280 to 840). With the right light, this gives excellent results. Even with the wrong light it gives good results. The photo attached to the review was in poor (overcast winter light, raining) light on my first outing with it which was to a local safari park.I bought the lens for the extra reach, and because as it's a fixed length zoom, it's more weather proof too.I have yet to put it to a proper test,

I've had one of these for some months and it's really, really good. I moved away from Canon completely as the weight was getting to be an issue - I had an EOS 1DX with various lenses including the native 100-400mm and a Sigma 150-600mm. Once I worked my way around the Sony camera's menu which is very different to Canon's my results took a leap in quality and consistency. This lens is streets ahead of the Sigma which was OK for the money but would soften after 500mm. Not so this Sony. The OS is excellent too. The attached fox image was taken at 250th, f6.3 at 600mm hand-held.Just a superb lens.

great lens heavy but much easier to hold than big primes, fantastic image quality even on an a7r iv and still good with the 1.4 teleconverter, wish I had never sold it will probably purchase it again in the future, if your after a wildlife lens at a affordable price this is the best I’ve used for the money, only down side is low light ability at 6.3 but it’s to be expected and not such an issue in great Sony sensors

Love it! I was pondering between this and the sony 100-400mm. I am glad I chose this lense. Fast focusing on my A7iii. Contrast and sharpness are brilliant. Love it for wildlife. Light compared to similar telephoto lenses from other companies. I use it handheld all the time.

I have used Canon 400 5.6 L before became a Sony members. This lens is just a perfect. Sharpness, colour rendering and bokeh are amazing @ 6.3. Quality is great and weight of 2.1 kg for 600 mm is spectacular. You can shot free from hand. IS is perfect. Thank you Sony!

I’ve been wanting to treat myself to a zoom lens for years! I’m no wildlife photographer but something I’ve always fancied. First impressions “thefxworks” this lens is awesome. I’ve added a few images from my first trial.

Probably the only viable solution for Sony E-mount and those that need high magnification and reasonable fast shutter speeds without high ISO and noise.
