item looked brilliant, it was a replacement, for the intel stock fan that came with the i7-4790k CPU.Item fitted, ok, but when i tested it , the cpu was heating up, THEN i forgot to remove the sticky transparent label that was stuck underneath, the cooler fan, was saying " please remove before installing " which is why the cpu was heating up. fixed that, by removing it, then it started to work.temperatures started at 43-44c, then when i did a stability test in windows (Windows 10 Pro x64), the CPU got close to 80c. I stopped the test, the Heat cooled & stuck to 50-51c constantly, and stayed there, didn't go back to 43-44c. It kinda worked, but it felt to me a thermal compound problem.NOW,i was watching alot of youtube videos about how to add thermal compound, I had ordered NT-H1 thermal compund 2 days after i had the CPU.I used the pea method spread, and noticed, in videos, the line method spread seemed to be better, to cover the whole CPU, so i removed the cooler fan, i noticed NOT all the CPU was covered in thermal compund, all four corners were bare, I removed all the old thermal compund, and re-did it using the line method spread.Since then, I have been constantly getting idle tempertures, of 37-44c, which is alot better than when i first added thermal compund. The most the CPU has gone up to, that i have seen it, go up to 86c the limit, when really busy. Happy with the cooler fan though.I have given this item/cooler fan 4 stars, due to the fact that the transparent label stuck underneath the cooler fan, the wording on it was way too small, and there was NO WARNING AT ALL, in the instructions to remove this label stuck underneath the cooler fan, before even, installing the cooler fan on to the CPU.

Initially very impressed... it came very well packed and is clearly made to a high tolerance. One installed and spinning the fan is a very quiet unit. I have chosen this as an attempt to get an uncomplicated compact cooler for an i7-7700k into a cube case for an mitx board. I am not a fan of liquid, although I am no authority.I am yet to mount the board in the case however I have been load testing the CPU (centos 7/stress) and have pushed the CPU at 100% (all 8 hyper-threads) and saw a peak temperature of 76'c. 80 is considered critical. The fan management (motherboard set to run fans assuming performance usage) runs the fan at full speed (with I might add no significant noise)and the CPU temperature wavers around 75'C. As stress finishes, the CPU temperature drops rapidly towards ~30'C and stabilises within 5 seconds. Therefore this has the ability to draw the heat away... :-)I have now fitted into a cooler master elite 110 with an sfx power supply from Corsair... I am big fan of Corsair...There is excellent clearance with sfx, note a standard psu will have not fitted.

Good HSF to fit in 3U case, reasonably quiet high quality PWM fan, handles a 95W Xeon no problems. Push pins for mounting are a bit fiddly and can lose grip if you're not careful.
