I bought this because a more expensive spade with an Ash handle suffered a broken handle when worked hard. This spade is well made, good looking and copes with the heavy stuff. A few small picky points; the blade has no foot flat spots at the top. It is a little heavier than its predecessor, but this is due to the steel shaft. A good working tool

I hate gardening but this spade is fantastic, I could even get to like gardening with tools like this
