8mm is much wider than you'd expect. The lens handles sun flare great, which is important, because with that field of view you're going to catch the sun in your frame a lot. The lens has a strong barrel distortion at 8mm, which can be corrected in Lightroom. The autofocus is fast and accurate. It can focus quite closely. My copy doesn't seem to suffer from chromatic aberration.Be mindful of what you're going to shoot - maybe you don't need 8mm, and could go for a 10-20mm Sigma, which is less expensive. Shooting wide-angle requires technique, knowledge, and thought.

Der Weg zurück um alles auf die Mattscheibe zu bekommen, ist mit diesem Objektiv nie zu kurz, denn man braucht keinen Weg zurück. Sie stehen direkt davor und haben alles auf dem Bild. Es ist unglaublich aber wahr, dass dazu noch die Abbildungsqualität exzellent ist. Gruppen- oder Städte-Fotografie ebenso bei Landschaften macht es unglaublichen Spass. Ich kann 100%ig zum Kauf raten. Ich benutzte es mit der Canon 60D und habe stets sehr gute Ergebnisse. [email protected]

This is as sharp a lens as you will get for EF-S Canon, including prime lenses. The big aperture is fantastic for low light allowing lower iso to be used. The one small gripe I would have is that the focus isn't that great. It produces nice pictures, but if you look closely you will notice that focus is slightly out around 50% of the time.

I have the canon 17-40 f/4L and wanted something wider... This really does the job. Yes it distorts at 8mm (how could it not?), and yep it's soft wide open but some of the best pictures I've ever taken have been through this lens.

The Sigma 8-16mm f/4.5-5.6 DC HSM Lens delivers very good image quality, has solid build quality, has fast and quiet HSM AF and has a reasonable price. I was so useful in New York for the tall buildings! I love it!
