If you're looking for a wide angle lens for your Nikon, then you should really consider this offering.Build Quality:In recent years, Sigma has improved considerably, to the extent that it's easily able to compete with Nikon, especially in the same price brackets. This lens has a real "quality" feel to it. It's robust, smooth and certainly well put together.Accessories:As with all Sigmas, you get a nice quality case with strap. The supplied hood hardly seems worth having, as the field of view is so wide the hood barely extends 1cm in places.Range:As you go to wider focal lengths, the change becomes increasingly more noticeable. You won't see any difference from 200mm to 201mm,but you certainly will from 10mm to 11mm. Opening up to 10mm gives you just that bit more in the frame than would be possible at 11 or 12mm. Going up to 20mm is a bonus too, as it then takes you up to the no doubt 18-nnn range of your next lens.Focus:Autofocus is very quick and near-silent. It's not as if the barrel has to turn much anyway. A plus point is that the end doesn't rotate, so the hood/any filters attached remain at the same angle.Image Quality:Any wide angle will produce curvature at the edges of the frame, more apparent when looking at straight lines and shooting 'up' or 'down'. This can be just what you're looking for, or easily corrected if not. I have read reviews that state the distortion isn't linear, i.e. there's some "wobble" in the lines that you may see on a flat horizon, but I can't say it's shown up in any noticeable way so far. CA is non-existant (althought my D90 does correct for this, but it doesn't show on my old D70 either). This is a nice sharp lens, and I suspect that to find any real problems you'd have to be looking for them.Having a maximum aperture of f3.5 isn't really a problem. For landscape you'd be closing down much more than this for a better depth-of-field. In close-ups likewise (or even more so).I noticed the previous comment about needing a flash, but I doubt many people have one that will cover 10mm, so it's a bit pointless really. I wouldn't bother with polarising filters either, unless you're just taking shots of water. It's such a wide angle that the sky will have 'bands' of blue in it as the polariser has different effects across the shot.Verdict:Overall it's a lovely lens, takes some lovely pictures, with few, if any, faults you'd see in real photographs.

This is a very strange lens to get used to. I bought it because I was not happy with the distortion in the corners of my Nikon 18-200mm lens at 18mm. There was also a problem with sharp focus. I thought this lens would work as a 15-30mm on my Nikon D7100, which is DX format. It does just that and when used correctly the images are sharply in focus and the control of distortion is quite remarkable. If you buy a 15mm full format lens it is usually regarded as a fish-eye lens with all the distortion that goes with it. So, to get a lens with so much control over uprights being upright and opposed to leaning sharply is quite an achievement. The lens is quite light in weight compared to what I am used to.Nevertheless it is well made and I see no reason why it should not work for years to come. So 5-stars in that compartment. The only reason I have marked it down to 4-stars is that you have to be very careful how you use it. It is not a general purpose lens. If you try to focus on close objects you get a sweet spot in the middle that is razor sharp and then everything around it is blurred out in a dramatic fashion. Some people buy filters to achieve the same affect and it could be useful in some circumstances. I have also found that at both extremes (10 and 20mm) there can be a softening of the focus in the corners. At f22 there is also a softening of focus but nothing that you couldn't sell, so it's not a big issue. The middle f-stops (f11 for example) seem to give a much better focus. I should point out that I take my images on a tripod and I open the mirror up before using a cable release to trigger the shutter, so my movement does not cause any blurring. In short if you use the middle of the f-stops and the middle range of the zoom, which still gives you a massive area view, then this lens provides first class results. If you go outside those parameters then things degenerate slightly. If you take things too close expect strange results (donkey with a large head and very tiny legs for example). Using it for wide field landscapes I have found it to be very good indeed. Indoors it took in all of my 19 feet long lounge and kept the wall corners straight. There is very little bellowing and pin-cushion distortion in this lens (again remarkable). Just be careful how you use it and it will give very good results.

I'm neither a professional photographer, or serious hobbyist when it comes' to photography, but I bought this after researching on many forums the best lens for architectural photography and urbex, in anticipation for a trip to Chernobyl. I shortlisted the Sigma, Tamron and a couple of others, I also looked at buying used lenses or hiring them, the 2nd hand cost of these is not far from cost when new, and the prohibitive cost of hiring (especially since the area is a bit of an unknown) made buying this an easy decision. This lens generally seems to cost the same from most retailers, but I prefer to buy from Amazon given their service. In most reviews this lens seems to beat the others on the market, comes highly recommended and is well priced in comparison to Nikon's alternative. It's well built, nicely finished and the autofocus motor is nice and quiet, it comes with a soft case, petal lens hood and lens caps too - although I invested in a UV filter to protect the lens surface from scratches.Worth mentioning if you haven't used this type of lens before, it's worth researching how to use it and how to get the best pictures before you take the plunge, I can get some reasonable results despite being (almost) a novice.I use this on a Nikon D5300 with absolutely no issues, and good results, it now lives on my camera instead of the kit lens supplied.

The lens is of good build quality and it produces very good images. The extra-large 83mm opening seems superfluous because the actual lens glass is much smaller but I guess the extra circumference allows for a decent sized hood (included) without encroaching upon the 10mm wide angle shots and it channels as much light as possible into the lens. I've used the lens on a Canon EOS 7D and have produced some very pleasing Castle and Cathedral interior shots hand-held without flash (the constant 3.5mm a big enough aperture for most, but 2.8mm or bigger would be superb. I also took it to the lake district and from the 10mm wide angle perspective it crams a whole load of landscape into the vista.I also used my EFS 17-55mm and the difference within a landscape shot at wide end (10mm V 17mm) makes a huge difference and offers more creative options. It is also great for smaller spaces like car interiors and can make your living room appear cavernous! I would definitely use this if taking photos for selling property or vehicles. I give the 5 stars for value for money. The image quality is very good build quality feels great and good old Sigma include a quality padded case and lens-hood. Very much worth it at the price given the alternatives.

I read a magazine article testing many lenses in this group and was surprised to find that this one produced significantly better results than it's rivals, including the Canon.I'd wanted a wide angle lens for a while thinking that I'd only use it for landscapes, which I don't do very often if I'm honest. When I received the lens I was more than happy with the results. The lens came with a case and a petal type hood, both good quality. The lens did take a bit of getting used to but now I find that if I'm not shooting wildlife I am usually using this lens. The zoom range is excellent, a wide f3.5 throughout the range gives great shallow depth of field possibilities and the guid quality is first class. There are a couple of minor niggles.Manual focussing is stiff and when used with video (the EOS650 has auto-focus when shooting video) the lens is jumpy and noisy, but like I say these are minor niggles. All in all a great value lens, it can well and truly hold it's own against all the competition.

I was looking for a wide angle lens and searched a lot before buying this one. The reviews were good enough to make me curious, so after reading articles and reviews I ordered it and couldn't wait to test it.This piece of equipment, together with a Canon 7D (which is my camera) makes the perfect combination. It is fast to focus, silent, the chromatic aberration is not significant and the results are just stunning. Of course you have to have in consideration the crop factor, which is 1.6x in Canon cameras and 1.5x in Nikon cameras (not full frame, evidently). Still, even with the crop factor you can capture a lot of the scenes with this lens.I use it mostly to shoot indoors architecture and couldn't be happier with it.If you are unsure about the lens behavior and if you live in a country that has photographic material for rent I would advise you to try this method first and decide later if this is really what you are looking for.

Great lens for the price, I needed something to attach to my D3200 as I shoot a lot of London Graffiti. Some of these pieces are huge and there is not a lot of room to stand back at some sites. It feels well made, for me the F/3.5 is fast enough for what I shoot with it, and I don't need it to create significant bokeh. If you do then you might need a faster lens so think on that before buying this one.My only issue that I have found is that for some reason this lens played havoc with the D3200 exposure. I don't get this with any other lens on this camera, even in changeable light. But in reasonably constant overcast daylight I was changing between +/- 1.3 stops of exposure compensation which was unexpected. So keep an eye on your histogram if you do shoot with this lens is my only comment of concern. It is more likely the operator of course but I will need to shoot a little more with it first to know.Jules

My third lens, first one wide used with Pentax K-30. For such lens one definitely needs to switch brain on and look deeper into tips how to shoot wide or result will be at least"unbalanced" or "off perspective" not in an positive way. Specific product performed well, focus is silent and fast. Lens is on the heavy side however I think you can not go any lighter in this category. Being wide front element is prone to dust and fingertips and my usual modus operandi not having lens cap on through the day is not advisable. Speaking of the lens cap this one is not on the quality level I expected from the lens. It is very light plastic and hard to put back especially with the lens hood on.Probably will have to change it hopefully before it get's lost. Taking into consideration that most of my photos are travel, urban, nature and a bit of family indoor should have purchased such wide lens earlier.

I have never bought a 'wide' lens of this level, with a minimum focal length of 10mm it is as near to 'fisheye' as you want to get if you want to correct distortion. I looked at all the reviews here before buying this lens and found them honest and accurate. There is indeed softness towards the corners of the images as another reviewer stated but it is not in my opinion objectionable. The general points for me are that it has excellent contrast, very good saturation and delivers a very sharp picture (apart from those corners). I have put three images on the item page here for you to see. I got the lens on 11/10 and took the photographs on the 12/10 they are unedited and quite poor compositions compared to the other excellent images in the line, but they show what you get just by going out and pressing the button. Well worth the money and a fine lens.

After much searching on the internet and reading reviews in magazines decided upon the Sigma 10 - 20mm f3.5 and after using it for some three weeks I am very pleased with the choice. I am using it with a Canon EOS 60D and it is slowly becoming my lens of choice, very rarely am I now using the Canon 17 - 85mm kit lens. The Sigma works well, obviously for landscapes but, I find superb for city work as well. The lens hood, a wide petal style, keeps stray reflected light at bay in the city and protects the lens well. Initially I used without a Polarising filter, but have now received my order and find that it really is an essential with this lens.Although the f3.5 setting gives acceptable results stopping down to f5 or f8 really makes this sing. Great lens and I will look to Sigma for further purchases.

I purchased this lens for use with a Nikon D3300 and have found it comes out with great results. The Nikon D3300 has a crop sensor, which results in a somewhat frustratingly limited angle of photos taken with the kit lens. This lens mitigates the limitations of the camera and kit lens for those on a budget, offering a high quality build with fantastic wide angle results.Build: The lens is quite heavy, but is of good build quality. The components don't feel cheap as you would find with kit lenses, and the rings move smoothly without too much give. Autofocus is fast, and almost perfectly silent.Image Quality: With any wide angle lens, there is some distortion- but for landscape photography this lens is unrivalled at this price point.Definitely 5 stars.

I've been a professional photographer for 55 years - during this time I've been privileged to use some of the best equipment created.I bought this Sigma 10-20mm lens to give me greater flexibility with landscape photography. The build quality is exceptional. the resolution of the lens is superb - and the results are stunning.I intend using it for astrophotography later this month with my Nikon D300 - and expect good results.A versatile lens that enables you to control distortion when used carefully - I've even used it at the 20mm end for portraits - and it performs perfectly. At this price point, it's a superb deal - and if you're looking for a wide angle lens (works out at 15mm-30mm on my Nikon D300)I can highly recommend this Sigma.

have been using sigma lenses for years with nikon and have always been happy with the quality.this lens in particular is a great buy.i was tempted at first to save about 100€ and go for the slower 4-5.6 version but in the end opted for the faster 3.5.very quiet ,smooth& fast AF.what summed it up for me was when the dealer advised me to buy this over the nikon 10-24 which is also slower.sigma are really putting it up to the dedicated brands and their lenses in some cases (like this one) surpass them hands down.this lens is average weight but does have a whopping great lens diameter of 82mm so filters like polarizers can be pricey.all in all one of my better buys and would recommend to anyonewanting super wide quality at a fair price.

I had wanted a wide angle zoom for some time for my Canon 60D and decided on this one after reading various reviews in photographic magazines. Ordered it from Amazon and, as usual, received it by return. The quality of the pictures taken with it is excellent - at least to my aging eyes and without the aid of electronic equipment to say otherwise. My only small gripe is that, despite the fact that the filter attachment ring has been made deliberately wide to prevent unintentional vignetting, I find that using a Cokin filter holder with an ND Grad does give a vignette at the wider angles. For this reason alone, I will reduct a star from an otherwise excellent product.

I cannot stress how good I find this lens, I have got it fitted to a full frame camera, however it is very easy to frame your shot for DX format with the grid through the view finder. It does give stunning results, and a "weird" perspective that makes going to your old haunts a joy to see what you can come up with. The only niggle that I found was if you use a shoulder sling and not a neck strap, if you walk along with the camera just hanging there, the Auto focus/manual button on the side of the lens can easily get switched from AF to M. Thats the only thing I have had a slight issue with. For the money its a great lens. See attached photos from my first outing .
