We bought this as a gift my in-laws last Christmas. We enjoy playing board games together and had previously gifted them Ticket to Ride, so knew they would enjoy the style of game.It took quite a long time to get to grips with the instructions compared to other strategy games we have played, however once we understood the rules we were hooked! The game requires players to split into "police" and "Mr X" with the police having the aim of catching Mr X, and Mr X having the aim of evading the police. Received this as a Christmas gift, and really pleased with it.We love board games, and I'd never heard of this one (think I've been in a cave for the last 20 years!), so really looked forward to getting it started.The premise of the game is simple - the Dectectives have to track down "Mr X" - the bad guy. The player representing Mr X only has to reveal their position on the board every few goes, and you as the team of detectives have to figure out which direction he could have gone, and try to trap him.There is an easier version of the game for younger players, but we found that TOO easy - my 7 year old said it ended too quickly, and he preferred the full version.All in all,

Really fun family game but which can be played with more subtly by adults. The beginners rules allow a bit of familiarity with the game basics but use a quite different game mechanic than the full game. The nice thing about this game is it is quick and provides a nice introduction to deductive reasoning for children and a way into more complex board games.From the half dozen beginners games I played it was a little easy to catch the spy but in the full game the opposite is true and it is very hard indeed to catch the spy. The only issue I found in the full game was that once you pass the final spy "reveal" turn you have a number of turns played blind. If you are not close at this point the game is effectively over.

I purchased this board game as a gift for a very young 9 year old boy. He had seen it advertised on television and was very excited to receive it. The game arrived on time and was well packaged. The idea behind the game is a very simple one, however I thought it may be too difficult for this particular 9 year old. Gladly I was proved wrong and he was able to grasp the concept easily. We have not progressed beyond the 'beginners' game play as yet but we have played a number of times with 3, 4 and 5 people varying in ages between 6 and 46, all have enjoyed the game. So great to see this game available again!As a family, we used ot play this about 15-20 years ago, and it's still as much fun now.One of you decides to be the criminal, and the others are the detectives who have to chase you London and catch you. You can use bus, tube and taxi tickets to move between spots, and the criminal has to show themselves every several moves or so.It's a great game of cat and mouse, and my advice to 'criminal' is to have a pair of sunglasses or a baseball cap/visor to hand so you can stealthily plan your next moves!Depending on how many of you play, it can take anything from 40-60 minutes (approx) per game, and there's a finite number of moves within which you have to catch the criminal (or be caught,

Bought this as it was on offer on Prime Day and have played it several times since. On the first read through of the rules it seems quite complicated but once you start playing it is easy enough to follow. However, this doesn't mean that it is easy to win (either as Mr X or as a detective) and therefore boring. Instead, this is a fun cops and robbers chase around London, requiring strategic thinking and cooperation between the detectives.Each game is different but doesn't take too long so everyone in your group could have a chance to be "Mr X" in a game play session. The game is fantastic as it is not just a random dice game and instead it relies on strategy , once you get the hang of it it is very easy to play, the instructions were very simple to follow and you can play a beginner and advanced game.Our youngest player was just turned 8 and had no difficulty in joining in actively and by the third time of playing was confident enough to be Mr X and evaded capture ,This game encourages friendly team work so Mr X does not evade you. We are a family of 5 and have now played multiple times with a variety of numbers of players the package says that you can play with just 2 players however it did not work brilliantly then and there are better two player strategy games out there.

It is great that there are two sets of rules included. We opted for the 'beginners rules' at first, to play with our 5 and 6 year old. This means you can see where Mr X moves to, apart from turns 3, 8 and 13 when he goes invisible. However it is a stripped down version so you only use bus or taxi to get around. Our kids quickly got the hang of it and wanted to play the full version. This is much trickier as Mr X is invisible for the majority of the time (and is a more fun role to play, as a result). After two rounds my 6 year old felt confident enough to have a go at being Mr X. It is nice that the detectives all work together to devise a strategy to capture Mr X (also allowing younger players to join in).

As a family, and one that owns a large range of board games, we came to this one relatively late. It is fascinatingly different from the usual dice-based games. Both tactics and strategy play important roles and as far as the pursuers are concerned, their co-operation is crucial in trapping the fugitive. The rules are relatively easy to learn and can be slightly altered to make chances more even. Clearly the more police in pursuit, the harder it is for the suspect to escape. The map, of central London is detailed, so it is helpful if all players are close enough to the board to be able to work out their plans without their thoughts being obvious to the opposition. Someone put us onto this game which we had never heard of - it turns out that it's a great family game suitable for our wide age range family (11-21 kids) and adults and grandparents too. The bonus is that we live in London, so it feels like we're on home turf, but even if we were not, I still think we would love it. It's simple to pick up, but difficult to strategise too much about it (there's enough luck to make it unpredictable, but enough skill to make it more than a game of luck). That's basically what you want from a family game - that and the fact that it doesn't take too long to play - it's not the kind of game that requires hours and hours of your time. Wish we'd found it sooner!

Bought this for my 8 year old daughter for Christmas as decided to try and play more games as a family. Once we started with this, that was the morning gone - happily played 5 games of it in quick succession. Once you have mastered the rules, it is fairly straightforward but a lot of fun (and she loved it). Always interesting seeing Mr X pop up at certain time points and then the guessing game about where he could be going next. We have easily played with 2 people as well as 3. With 2 you just have one as Mr X and the other person takes on the role of 2 detectives and 2 police. Worked just as well. Would definitely recommend this game - we are addicts!

We are loving this game!! It's quite stressful taking the part of mr X as all the other players are working as a team to corner him. So far, our mr X has been captured every time.One thing i would say - you do need good eyesight to be mr X!! When i tried it, i had to crane over the area of the board i was hiding in as i couldn't read the numbers!!We found the instructions very easy indeed - have seen some reviews saying it's difficult but it really isn't. Our 9 yr old picked up the main game within minutes. It does need adults or sensible older children to keep the game on track but it's pretty simplistic really. Exciting and tense though!

This game isn't really one for young children. Older children, teens and adults yes. As a lot of the reviews have said, the instructions are quite complicated and maybe could have been simplified a bit and there are lots of pieces in the game, but once you get going with it and know what you're doing it is actually quite fun. I think there's a lot of unfair reviews on here from what I've read simply due to people not spending enough time reading it properly or figuring it out properly before giving up. Not bad for the price and I would recommend to folks who like strategy games, it reminded me a bit of chess with a fun twist.

I already have this game and my son who now lives in New Zealand wanted it for his family so it has been sent there for them to enjoy, its an exciting game especially for the robber who has to outwit the rest of the players trying to catch him and its nerve wracking every time the robber has to reveal where they are. His girls are only 4 and 7 so I looked at the junior version but that looked too easy, I feel this will make them think more and they lived in London before NZ so it will remind them of home as it were. I would certainly recommend this for children or adults.

I am early 30's and me and my friends love playing this game. Essentially it everyone teaming up against one other person who is on the run. You have to collaborate with each other to come up with a strategy to outwit the person on the run and it become very strategic and also about reading the other player. Its harder than it looks to be on the run and gets really tense at times. Picked it up when it was about £12 so it was great value. Would definitely recommend.
