My family have a tradition of playing Charades at Christmas and it often descends into chaos and hysteria! In recent years we've tried different versions, so when I saw this board game idea, I couldn't wait to try it.You get a small, square board- just 25cm square, with a honeycomb grid of 'spaces' marked out from Start to Finish, across the board. There are six differently coloured token pieces to play with so you can play as six individuals or as up to six teams, I think teams are more fun!The basic idea is to get from one side of the board to the other, by miming well enough that someone guesses it before the egg timer runs out. There are four packs of cards with six mime categories on each, and which mime you have to choose is determined by the symbols on the spaces adjoining your current position on the board. If your mime is successfully guessed, you can move your token onto that space. You cannot move your token onto a space that is already occupied, so you could end up having to move sideways or even backwards before progressing forwards towards your finish spot. The guesser who got your mime correctly, then takes their turn. If you're lucky, then it's someone from your own team, so you potentially get to move forward again, however your mime is performed to the whole group with everyone having a chance to guess and therefore take the next turn.We all enjoyed the structured spin to the game, avoiding the hopeless hysterics of previous games, whilst still maintaining the hilarity of struggling to mime something that no one seems to have a clue about!Great that there are so many cards too, 4 packs containing more than a thousand different mimes.Suggested age is 12+, but we played with a 10yr old who had no problems joining in.Roll on Christmas !!!!

When I first saw this board game I wondered why I needed it at all. After all, I’ve been playing charades for years without a board, so why should I start now? Well, there are some advantages which include a timer to keep things moving along nicely, and prepared cards which make things easier. They contain a surprising number of suggestions for the charades and we have found there to be a good mix of both modern titles and more ‘classic’ ones. As it is a board game there’s a greater element of competition so better engagement, especially from those players who are otherwise reluctant to join in.I like the fact that even though it is a board game it isn’t complicated since most people are familiar with the concept anyway, and this set just organises things better and surprisingly we found that it was more fun to play. The set is nicely put together with a good quality box to keep things in – I hate it when the boxes aren’t strong enough to cope with repeated opening/closing, or a bit of rough handling. There will be times when we revert to ‘old-fashioned’ charades but if this set was handy then I think it would be the preferred choice.

Charades is a great game in general but this takes it and makes it more organised and appealing to kids with a competitive board to go round . This version has set cards with categories on it from modern day for you to act out and a traditional board game for players to go around and also aims at the competitive nature of peopl. It helps the game be organised and helps people focus on a role to play - and people soon come out their comfort zones trying to perform a film or book etc.because it's modern version it contains references that are popular in today's culture - my only disappointment with this game is that it really is for older children to adults - it suggests 12 upwards but you may get away with about 10 onwards but it misses out appealing to younger children.I have a another charades game that is more uptake for all age groups but this is more fun with the board game .Overall a really great game and I highly recommend for Christmas but if some of the cards were aimed at younger children it be more fun - with maybe drawings if they couldn't rad well or easier subjects.

AGE GROUP==========To get the most fun from this I think it's suitable for 12+WELL MADE==========The board is well constructed and the box is nice. It's the type that can be put away each Christmas.CLASSIC=======It's a classic game that everyone knows. (Just like everyone knows hangman)So everyone should know the rules. So the pluses are no complicated reading of rules: out of the box you can play straiht away.As it's a board game it needs a modern 'update.'The decks of cards have recent latest films and music with some classic ideas too.CLASSIC OR NEW==============I preferred to use this as the old game. Simply mime and the rest of the family guess. But you can play the new way and steal a turn.OVERALL=======A pleasant game to play at Christmas.

This is a pretty much what I expected from a Charades game. It has a board which players have to get from one side to the other hopping onto different categories of charades. There are LOADS of cards so shouldn't get repeats for a while and the charades are pretty good and up to date.I would agree with the over 12 age rating as my 11yr old and 9 yr old had a go and though they enjoyed the concept, many of the things on the card were alien to them and they had to take quite a few cards before they found something they knew. Also the 'how many words, syllables?" Aspect of it was a bit lost on them.

This is a bit of a new take on a classic game. It offers a small tweak to spice up the traditional version, but it can be played any way you like, so there's no need to play by the new rules if you don't like them. The box and game feel well made and sturdy, so everything should last a while. The cards reference newer music and movies in addition to some standards so those hopefully won't age too quickly, though with trends being what they are it's hard to anticipate what the next years will bring. This game will be a staple at family gatherings for years to come.

This is a modern twist on the classic game of Charades. The main difference is that this version has a board included, and a there's a timer also. The recommended age is from 12 up, but my 10 year old son played it without difficulty. It's better, I think, to play in teams, but you can play as individuals. This is a sturdy, well made game that will be a great go-to game at many a family get together. Would be nice if they sold extra card packs.

This is a brilliant take on Charades, firstly it is a board game with lots of ideas of subjects etc but the main difference is that everyone is guessing the answers and therefore either team can get the point which makes it more exciting and much more of a family atmosphere game. Very simple to learn we had a real giggle with 9 year old kids and 82 year old grandparents ! Strongly recommended and a great Xmas Day game.

Bought for a birthday present for a 11/12 year old. Our children found this difficult so we restarted with team putting an adult in each. Further attempts had us revert to old style game just using the cards and not the board. Still worth playing, and hopefully with practice our kids will grow into it!.Was this review helpful to you? If you like charades then this is the game for you. Lots of fun and frustrating when unable to guess the plot. The room filled with laughter and shouting at each other. Then boom! someone guesses and everyone says "how did you guess that"??? Love the game. Makes humans into humans lol.

Questions were quite good, varied from easy to hard. Would have been better if the people I played with knew the game beforehand, thing like how to sign book, play, song etc would be useful. Best to recap or decide on some basic ways to show words first.

A great take on the classic Christmas game. We love it and is great for adults and children alike. Some good modern titles as well as old classics and doesn't come in a ridiculously oversized box so it's easy to store.

A classic game that will never fail to get everyone in a good mood. With the risk of coming across as not so clever, we found the timer a stress we couldn't cope with, so put it aside. Strangely, the fun increased.
