The 4x4x4 Rubik's cube is a great step up for someone who has mastered the 3x3x3 cube. There are some new challenges as the player will learn (no center tiles for point of reference colors, long algorithms for parity problems.. you'll see what I mean when you try to solve it). This cube is very well made in terms of durability, which seems to cause a problem when it comes to flexibility. I have never had a piece fall out of place, but sometimes the sides are difficult to turn. There are plenty of videos online showing how one can lubricate the cube, and this helps substantially for the 4x4x4. However, this cube is not a "speed cube". It is ideal for learners who don't mind taking time to solve the cube (and will need to at first),and for those who don't want the cube to fall apart mid-solve.Overall, a good buy, but it's best to experiment (even with cheap/import models) and find the brands of cubes that you like.

If your familiar with rubiks 3x3 (especially getting one new) then you'll be very satisfied with their 4x. Resolved the peeling sticker issue with seamless plastic plates (stickerless) and has the same feel in turning as a fresh new rubiks 3x. It takes more getting used to the extra row then actually having to break it in. As a logical human being, you'll understand that when it binds up you cant just muscle it into position without breaking the thing (causing cubesplosions as shown in some other reviews) but with a touch of finesse, the edges slide into position as you'd expect. Operates smooth like the 3x Ive come to know and love, and comes with new algorithms and complications to add satisfying complexity to the puzzle.Well worth the $15 and the good name. The naysayers are simply heathens.

Anybody who can solve the 3x3, dubbed The Rubik's Cube, with ease will have a distinct advantage here. The Rubik's Revenge is just as fun and satisfying as the original. Once you've mastered it, new patterns that require knowledge of both the 3x3 and 2x2 offer unique and really cool patterns. It's a little stiff, and one of my corner pieces popped off (it was an easy fix)but I can't complain. Even when you get tired of doing it, it's nice just to look at. And it never gets old when somebody asks "Did you really solve it?" It's a pretty fun product.

After mastering the 3x3 I needed an extra challenge. As will all new cubes it was a little tough turning for the first week or so. It loosened up some but still is not as easy to turn as a 3x3, but maybe that's just me. I knocked a star off as a few pieces fell off while I was trying to make a couple moves. I would say it was due to a combination of the cube being a little to hard to turn and a lack of patience on my part.

Are you one of those rare people who actually SOLVED your standard, 3x3 Rubik's Cube? The 4x4 Rubik's is the next step! This puzzle is much more challenging. My husband, who collects different Rubik's puzzles, still hasn't solved this one. He loves the 4x4: the puzzle turns smoothly and looks impressive sitting on the black plastic stand. It's a great gift for someone who likes brain teasers, puzzles, and problem-solving!

This a good cube for collectors and anyone who has solved the 3 x 3 and ready for a new challenge or anyone interested in Rubik's cubes. The downfall is that it locks up and pops a lot more than the 3 x 3, care must be taken when turning and lining up the individual cubies, so this is not for speed cubing. Overall though a good cube, because its from the line that started it all, Rubik's.

I bought this cube and then saw that people had complained about rubix quality so I was nervous that the cube would be good. I am amazed at the great turning quality and find it good for speed. A problem that occured a lot was that the edges will come out of place a little bit ( not out of the puzzle ) and you have to pop them back into place. Overall, I am satisfied with the cube.

this is a great buy and well worth the cheaper price however this cube requires some disassembly to lubricate the tougher to move faces after that mine seems to turn better than my 3x3 and cut down solving times by 40% other than the occasional dislocating piece its well worth the price and is ideal for people who want a bigger challenge than the 3x3

Working my way through the cube's. This one is definately different then the 3. Great fun. This one is a bit loose. But I would imagine if your up for speed cubing you will jump on the forums and see how to set them up for that.Decent price and prodcut is still kicking. Used alot. All the guys here at my work are learning. So this gets used a ton.

This toy did not fall apart like all the negative reviews said it would. It is sturdy and has lasted a month now with no sign of wearing out - and my son plays with it a lot. They are probably just trying to sell other brands. The only bad thing is it is harder to turn than the 3x3x3, but it did loosen up a bit after some use.

As in previous reviews did have one block come off within the first day of opening, but put back on withsuper glue and haven't had any other issues since. My daughter loves it, has almost solved it but notcompletely yet. A good challenge for her and she can solve the 3x3 in 1 min and 1/2.

Great puzzle. I love this 4x4 version. One serious drawback is that it is way too delicate and susceptible to breaking. This is the 2d 4x4 that I've purchased. There's a warning on the box about it not being as sturdy as the original 3x3. Caution.

I bought this for my oldest as he had mastered the art of the Rubik's 3x3 and wanted a challenge. Needless to say, he has been working on this and is enjoying the challenge! It was neatly packaged up and in perfect condition! Thanks!

I can’t put this down! Helps with my anxiety and memory problems. My niece was able to break a piece off because she was rough, but it was easy to pop it back in place. Good challenge. Definitely harder than the 3x3 but I solved it.

Out of the box, this cube is very very stiff. After playing with it, and solving it about 2-3 times, the cube loosened up and is now playable. This is much harder than the 3x3, but still very very fun to solve. Is worth the money
