This is a two sided map that is an expansion to Power Grid, which you need to already have.One side is France, which has cheaper Nuclear as well as a little gimmic where Paris is a three city block that has free connections between the three cities. Overall, the cheaper nuclear tends to make all resources cheaper based on supply and demand and leads to an "easier" game. This would be a nice map for beginners.On the other hand.Italy. Italy is the exact opposite. Resources are way rarer and you can find yourself really paying a premium to power your plants. Add to that the fact that southern Italy has some pretty high connections, and the game starts to get really competitive.

The picture is b/w, however the map came in color like expected. It came wrapped in plastic paper and with a simple sheet of information. The downside of that is that I'm keeping it with the original game box, which now won't fully close. If I'm planning to order more expansions map I would have to find a solution.The map itself is pretty interesting. France make it a as simple beginner game, with the very inviting city of Paris, unless you have opponents that will try to block you. Italy is very hard map, with lots of expensive connections, and it's very difficult to get the money for connecting cities. Definitely a map for expert and lots of strategy involve.

This expansion to Power Grid is a lot of fun and many others have described the fun new additions...My only grief here is that the picture of the rulebook is in black and white and many people in reviews said, "Don't worry about it, it will be in color". Well, my rulebook/rule-sheet was not. As a matter of fact, a friend and I bought this together and his was in color and mine was not.Kind of a bummer when you think about it (looks less official).Other than that, all good.

Great expansion map with France on one side and Italy on the other. France offers an "easier" map which is great for beginners and Italy adds some twists with lower resources and a more difficult map.If you are looking to expand you Power Grid experience this is a great place to start.

The Italian side is an awesome map for three players. When you can only get two other people together to play this fabulous game this is the map to play. Northern Italy has three regions that boarder each other so one player is not surrounded at the start of the game.

If you're a Power Grid fan, this will extend the fun of playing the game by giving you two different country layouts to use. Also good for learning the geography of cities in France and Italy.

Don't let the grey picture fool you! The item is full color. Comes with a sheet describing rules changes for the expansion but mostly follows normal game rules. We love it!

If you enjoy the original game, you will definitely enjoy this expansion. It works well with the original deck as well as the expansion deck.

I like the new maps and game changes adds variety. But they might cost just a bit too much. Maybe a combo pack would be a good idea.
