Absolutely fabulous reel. Durable and sturdy, I've used this reel to hook amberjack up to 60lb on my regular trips to Cuba and Mexico. Originally I took the reel as a backup but ended up setting up a trolling outfit with it. After I'd had a couple of kingfish I tried jigging with it. With 30lb braid and a 50lb leader it's a fantastic light outfit that I'd trust to take on most of what I have cought over the years. On top of that it'll cast at distance too!Really great reel for the money.

Excellent. Good for beach fishing over mixed or rough ground. Powerful reel, and contrary to what some people say I find it to be a very good casting reel too. High build quality - a friend of mine has been using one for a while and it has not let him down and he rates it too. I also have a daiwa millionaire and an abu and I prefer this to both of those.

This is a superb casting reel particularly suited to rough ground fishing (the high retrieve rate keeps your rig off the bottom) The magnetic control ensures that you don't end up with a birdsnest. The smoothest action places this reel securely in the realms of a great reel. If money were no expense I would buy two, on for each rod.

got back into fishing about 12 months ago after selling all my tackle 15 ys ago. as im getting on a bit i thought i'd better start again with a fixed spool set up. anyway 1 year on and i've gone back to a multiplier rod and reel. so i bought a penn 525 mag2, what a reel,it's fantastic a superb reel to use.

Just recieved this but not allowed to play with it until Christmas :(My only concern at the moment is that the box the reel arrived in had been opened.Positive feel to all the controls, have to remember that free spool is not disengaged when handle is turned (manual operation reqd)

Very good hardworking workhorse of a reel casts like a dream high retrive rate great for clean to rough ground fishing good reel for medium boat fishing for cod. pollack.flatties and eels .i got the original 525 reel and its class the mk 2 is class too

Best reel I have ever owned use mine for beach and boat , it's 5 years old now and never even had it apart. It's used every week sometimes 2 or 3 times a week. Bomb proof it is

top quality castin reel fantastic value for the money best reel i hav ever used so far wud reconmend to any beach or rock fisherman no birds nests with the mags on this reel :)
