When I started traveling full time I went with this bag as my primary with just a smaller day bag to carry all my things. I was still getting the feel for what I’d actually need (still kind of am) and so the 65l was a great starting point. I’ve since downsized a bit and am considering the 40l, but I’d really like to see a few added features first. I have a review of the 65l on YouTube if you want to look it up; sorry, I can’t post links here. It’s a bit of a “what’s in my bag” video, so it might be a little long for some, but it shows how much you can actually carry with this, and I also talk a bit about my wish list items for the next update.Things like connection clips in the front for the Daylite Travel pack and an internal pocket on the lid. But overall the barebones pit these bags are is a great fit for my packing style using cubes and pouches to separate my things. This is another way to get the absolute most out of any bag IMO.The material does scuff a bit, but I think it will hold up well over time. It's not a waterproof bag, but the material offers good resistance. The 40l and 65l versions come with a shoulder strap, but I’d go with the backpack straps in all but sort transfers unless you aren’t carrying much. I might even opt for the side handle instead of carrying the shoulder strap with me.Even though I would still like to see these small changes, as is this bag is still very high on my list of favorites.ProsLightweight and durable construction that holds a lot! This could vary from person to person, but I found the backpack straps very comfortable.Quick access pocket on the top (exterior) for stowing small items.Nice strong zippersConsNo clips for the Daylight Travel on the backpacks straps. Being a minimal style bag I see this being used with a secondary bag. This just seems like a perfect fit as the Transporter Duffels don’t have a laptop compartment or any sort of organization. No rain cover pocket; the addition of one on the bottom would be great. There is only one small internal mesh pocket on the bottom which is a bit hard to get to, I think one on the inside of the lid and or one down a side would be much more useful.

When I first started looking for a small travel bag I read a lot of the reviews on here regarding this particular bag to get an idea of its quality. So right from the get go of receiving the package with this bag in it I have been impressed with the durability and quality of the bag. I have other osprey bags and have always been happy with the quality of them. I did take this bag on a long weekend trip and was able to pack 4 days of clothing and a toiletry bag with ease. Even with all that in there I still had more room. Bag is super comfortable to carry with a shoulder strap end it has a hand strap at each end of the bag so that you can carry it in the front of you like a bin.I wouldn’t use this as a backpack but it does have options to do so. The material is very heavy and feels like it’s water resistant, it also does not have a funky smell like plastic. The interior of the unit has straps just like a large travel bag you would take on an airline to support your items. My only issue with the bag was a slight difficulty in the retaining clips that hold the top access flap closed tightly after you sip it up. There is what I would call a rain flap that slightly covers the receiving end of the plastic retainers, they aren’t hard to snap together but they are a little difficult to get apart. Truly a minor issue since they secure the bag nicely. Excellent fit and finish. Others on here over analyze this bag big time. It’s a fantastic bag is definitely worth the money for what you get compared to other bags in this arena.

I used this bag in a two weeks trip to Brazil, where rollers would not work very well, since I would be walking on sand a lot.Pros:It is light! Ideal for airplane trips where bag weight can be an issue. It fits a lot! 65 liters is a pretty good size.Osprey really knows what they are doing and the quality of this bag is really good. Just looking at the pictures I thought that it was a soft nylon, but it is pretty thick and they treated it with water repellent in strategic areas. The red can be seem from far away! Great for finding your bag on the baggage carousel. There is an external pocketThere is a transparent pocket to put your information, in case the bag is lost. There are many handlesThe fact that it can become a backpack is the best!As a backpack, it is very comfortable. It is very easy to store the straps when dispatching the bag.The bottom has extra protection. It takes away less space then a rigid bag when you need to store it.The female connectors are color coded. The blacks are for the shoulder straps, the grays to secure the top.Cons:A Duffel can be a bad idea if you are carrying a lot of weight when you could be using a roller.Red also gets dirty really fast, in just one trip and the duffel already looks old.

I received an email alert from Osprey about the newly designed Transporter. At the time, Osprey was the only place to have them in stock until the following day, then the bags appeared on Amazon along with 2 throughly written (5 star) reviews from "customers". Coincidence? Hardly!Simply put: It's a duffle bag with no real additional departments minus a two mini departments for smaller items. One is on the outside, the other (mesh department) is inside How big are these side departments? Well, my Kindle Fire HDX would not fit. However, the outside side department will hold your wallet, car keys, smart phone, snacks and smaller items with no problem.I recently used the bag during my 7 day trip to Colorado and it's worked well for me.As someone else stated, this would be a huge overkill for a gym bag. If you're unsure whether you want to dish out $130 on the updated bag, try the older model, which has dropped substantially in price. When compared side by side, they look mostly identical - The new bag can converted to be used as backpack

Just received this yesterday so no use yet. My initial impression is very positive. The duffle appears to be as advertised and what the positive reviews reflect. I bought this as a BOB/survival bag rather than go with a Maxpedition, 5.11 etc which are so tactical looking. This bag is very light yet sturdy, robust and seemingly very water resistant. The overall build quality seems excellent. The stowaway shoulder straps are well designed and most likely very comfortable when bag is loaded. I do believe that this 65L will be the ideal size for my application although the 40L would most likely be too small. One of my other considerations for this bag was that it be small enough to take as a carry-on when flying. This is the ideal size for many uses.

All and all I love the bag. Before I had this I was moving gear around with a collection of reusable grocery bags in the crew cab of my truck. This eventually got to be a bit of a cluster and I got this bag to help consolidate that. The bag is awesome for that purpose. It keeps climbing shoes/harness/rope, plus running shoes, gym shoes, and some yoga gear all in one place. I pack it up on Sunday night and am good to go all week. Still a bit of a cluster, but at least it's all in one place.Only gripe is that the hardware/buckles that attach the shoulder strap to the bag itself make a ton of noise and generally seem like they're not going to last for years.I replace those with two carabiners and basically feel like the bag is 100% now.

I did a lot of research on duffles, and this turned out to be just what I was looking for. The backpack straps are a lifesaver; I also really appreciate the muted grey-green color, which hides dirt and doesn't get as hot as a darker fabric might in the sun. The 65L is long enough to hold a tent (at least the model I have), and the zippers seem to be very durable so far.If I could add anything, it would be more interior pockets, but there's already a side exterior pocket, a pouch on the top panel where the backpack straps can be stored, and interior pocket, which is more than many other duffles offer.

I bought this duffel because it is made by a backpack maker and has the best straps of all duffels in this size range made by reputable makers. I have not been disappointed. Its comfortable on my back.I bought this as an alternative to a formal "crag pack" for outside climbing. Since I climb mainly with my kids, I need to pack more stuff than I normally would. (snacks, water, an extra rope for a rescue if necessary, etc). It is about 20 L larger than most crag packs and that does it for me.It carries very well on the back if you are used to a pack without a waist belt. Which I am.

its well made, water proof to a certain point and love that the straps fold away for those flights...feels good on your back and you can pack a lot into these little bags.Point to remember is that you need to order the correct size, this size is perfect for me as a traveller but in my opinion anything less than 65 litre will be too small. i gave the previous 40 litre to my girlfriend as it was just too small but 65 litre is great. If your wanting a large backpack for hiking then go bigger than this 65 litre as this is just right for medium use like my camera gear...

Love love love this bag. I just want to sit here and look at it. I bought it for an upcoming 2 week trip to Alaska. Holds so much. Durable. Comfortable as a backpack too! Zippers are heavy duty. I got the ruffian red. It’s ok. I think I should have gotten the lime green or keystone grey. But I’ll survive. Concerned with carrying it on the plane. It’s big after you get your stuff in it. If i don’t have to check it, it will be the best bag ever. I will be able to use it again and again and again. Highly recommend!

Solid. I can't wait to take this out on a real trip, instead of just a pretend trip to test it out. Great size. most of my other travel bags are either too small or two big... and get sorta floppy unless I stuff them full. My current favorite duffel has a over the shoulder strap, which can be convienent, but I've been needing something uniform on my back... and the optional backpack straps on the Osprey Transporter are a welcome sight.

This bag is really useful for travelling to replace my usual duffel bag that I usually sling over one shoulder. Has a secure pocket for documents and laptop, all the while keeping the contents protected as the opening to the bag is against my back. The only downside is that once you fill the bag it's pretty hard to fit the bag back into the carry case. Added bonus is its water proof, my previous bag was not.

Osprey make amazing gear and the Transporter 65 is simply a fantastic solution for long trips as well as weekends. I can pack a few days of gear and a sleeping bag in its cavernous space. Shoulder strap or configured as a back pack, it's super versatile. I have several Osprey back packs that I have used very hard and they never fail to preform. I expect nothing less from the Transporter 65

13.11.2018

Well designed pack that is nice to carry for weekend, week long or extended trips. I have carried a good amount of camera equipment in this bag and enjoyed its functionality and ease of access. It is well designed. I will be flying with it soon, it seems to be right on the fringe as an acceptable carry on. I'm hoping to not have an issue. Time will tell. Overall well designed and a great bag.

18.9.2018

This bag is used daily. From a commuter bag, to hauling gear up a mountain, to stuffing it full of work gear, it is ideal. The 65l capacity means it's small enough to easily handle on a bus/train, but large enough to fit a week's+ groceries. The backpack straps are well designed, and the added bonus is that it stays open when it's being packed, unlike many other duffles. Well done, Osprey!
