The picture quality is a little 'soft' but fine on our small TV. Remote control learned to switch the TV on and off, and usefully includes its own mute and volume controls. One limitation is that you can only program to the EPG, not by channel/date/time if you want to add a cushion. That said, only one recording so far has lost the last few seconds. For anyone who has deleted a recording by mistake (blush), there is a deleted folder which hangs on to them for 30 days (I think) and allows recovery.

The manhattan replaced a 10 yr old sagem that was playing up. The Manhattan is full HD and it's lightning fast to access the EPG and run through the EPG. You can set to skip at different speeds when there's adverts. It's recorded everything I have asked it to do so far. The negative things are: the buttons are big, you can't set timers manually, if you record a movie on a Monday then it will say in the schedule it's going to record it again if it's repeated the following week. It's good though.

We decided to replace Sky with the Manhattan on recommendation.. I was sceptical at first & thought it'd take a while to get used to it after years with SKY. It was quick and simple to set up. We also realised that we had no rooftop aerial so are using an antenna style one with no issues. The box is easy to navigate & recording is very easy, options for single record or series & choice of SD & HD. I'm NOT missing Sky at all, least of all the £50+ a month cost. I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND this box!

Easy to set up and simple to use. Great freeview recorder that has been designed with simplicity and efficiency in mind. Just little things like still able to watch the TV in the corner of the epg while browsing make a huge difference. While viewing your recordings you can also choose categories to make searching for your desired program quicker. The first one we got had stutter issues but considering how great this box is we didnt even consider another make and just got a straight exchange.

I needed a replacement for my old Bush Freeview Recorder box, as it wasn’t compatible with my new Smart TV. The Manhattan T2-R is simplicity itself to set up. I had the whole thing sussed within a few minutes. The picture quality is excellent. The EPG etc, is all very user friendly There is no red light to let you know when it’s recording but I’ve quickly got used to that and it hasn’t let me down yet. I can record two channels at once and watch a third through my TV. I’m very happy with it.

Very easy to setup, from opening the box, connected to the tv, via hdmi cable, plug the Ariel in ,first tune installation no more than 5 minutes maxThe EPG program guide is very clear with a small screen showing what channel your watching as you search through all the Freeview channels including about 15 in HD Recording is very simple to do as is watching them back as the remote control is easy to use almost self explanatory well marked buttons and a decent size that sits well in the hand

Compact and easy to set up, with well-thought-out features, this unit delivers great results. Organisation of recorded programmes into categories (series, films, etc) is intuitive and helpful. The EPG is excellent apart from the text being rather small - though we have a small TV. The option given to record in HD whenever possible is a neat touch. It's also possible to record radio, which is very useful. Bought to replace a much more expensive but unreliable Humax, this is a great product!

The Manhattan recorder is the best looking one I have ever owned. Smooth top - none of those annoying slats to let the dust in. Very easy to install and to use. Turns on immediately, unlike my last recorder which had to "initialise" for some minutes if taken off stand-by. Strangely, it is a second or two slow to change channels or in the channel list, but other than that, this is a terrific recorder. If you only have a scart socket on an older tv, there is a special pack available.

Due to both my parents recently retiring, they've decided to cut down on expenses, so that they can holiday more! One of the expenses they cut down on was their monthly cable TV bill.I bought them this Freeview recorder as a present and they love it. I helped them set it up and they're able to use it on their own. The Series Record option works much the same as their old Virgin TiVo box. They have a separate Firestick plugged into their main TV, for all the catch-up services.

Really great DVR - so easy to set up and use. Many more functions than in the instructions, eg - it will show, if it has the same program within a week or two, that it has already been recorded so it won't record the same program twice. This will show on EPG. The EPG is great, so easily read, doesn't cut program out so that you can still watch/hear it via a small square at top right hand side of program guide. Tons of useful features for ease of use on this DVR - highly recommended

The nearest replacement to the old Panasonic is twice the price of this. It was easy to set up but there were no instructions in the box. I had to download and print. Instructions are needed to get to grips with the interface and features. I like how easy it is to get subtitles and to record 2 programmes at once. I find the handset layout a bit muddled and do not use it to replace the TV remote. I miss being able to whizz through programmes and still read the subtitles.

Seems to work well. Setting up fairly straightforward, instruction booklet left a lot to be desired, recording and viewing a programme not too clear, deleting programmes was well hidden.HOWEVER, I DISCOVERED UPON OPENING THE PACKAGE THAT THE UNIT APPEARED TO HAVE BEEN A CUSTOMER RETURN, JUDGING BY THE DIRTY MARKS ON THE DEVICE AND THE FACT THAT THE REMOTE ALREADY CONTAINED THE BATTERIES. I would have expected to be advised of this and received a discount on the sale price.

I am well pleased with this recorder. It set itself up in minutes, lovely clear instructions and nice picture. My only issue I have had 3 times is that the guide is showing ` No Information`. My other recorders have not had this problem. I searched for the answer and the only one that worked for me was to auto tune the TV . It worked each time and seems to have settled down now. I don`t want the Catch up TV as it has no subtitles so this is fine for me. Very good price. Happy

We bought this to replace our Sky box which had been increasing in cost over the years to a point at which we decided it wasn't worth paying for the 2-3 channels that we regularly watched. We lost the few Sky channels that did watch but we could get them on "NOWtv" for a lot less than the Sky package if we wanted to go back to them. Only slight issue is that very occasionally we get a momentary freeze of the picture but it's a small price to pay for the money we are saving.

Bought to record programmes & don't have broadband. Easy to set up straight out of the box and instructions come with it which is getting more unusual nowadays. Very good EPG which asks if you want to view or record in HD if available which is a nice feature. Also good is the SWAP button so you can flick from a channel to another one (handy through adverts) and then go immediately back to the previous one. No catch up so some people might not like this model hence 4 stars.
