Virtually all my reviews are about films, or books about film, or books on which films are based. However, I wanted to make an exception here, because we really liked this product. We made a decision, having watched Sir David Attenborough’s horrific programme about plastics contaminating our oceans, that we needed to cut back on plastic in the home. One of our big plastic consumptions was buying bottled water, as I do so much prefer fizzy water. But clearly, we knew we could make a huge saving on both plastic, and potentially money, if we stopped this purchase. We are on our own supply of non-mains water (from a 70 foot bore hole), and the water, which is fully treated, is lovely. So,we decided to just filter it and then fizz it ourselves. My husband is a great researcher, so he looked at this question exhaustively. He concluded that the most well-known make of fizz-inducing gizmos, by Soda Stream, did not get an especially good press. He saw reviews of this European-made alternative brand, which looked much more positive. We bought this pack from Amazon, in white, complete with 2 bottles, and 2 cylinders.Eureka! It works beautifully, and it looks VERY chic. It is easy to use, produces very nice fizzy water, and keeps its fizz well, nice and cold in the fridge. And the replacement cylinders are easily obtained, at our local Sainsburys, which has an Argos counter. Obviously, these are more expensive than a bottle of fizzy water, but they last very well. I have not actually costed it out to see if this is more or less expensive than our old water purchases, but we have really cut back on our plastic consumption. So that is a huge win for the planet. And our shopping is far less bulky, especially in hot weather. So a big fizzy 5 stars for this great little household appliance.

Pros.. it is so simple.. fill the supplied bayonet top bottles with water to the fill line - don't over fill; press the infuser button 1,2 or 3 times depending on your 'fizz' preference; press the release button and you have perfect sparkling water.Do not try to remove the bottle before pressing the C02 release button.. you will break the locking mechanism. The device has a small counter top foot print and will just ( a squeeze ) fit in under wall cabinets hung at the conventional height. I suggest buying the unit without the Co2 canister. Visit Robert Dyas and purchase a competitor Co2 canister. You can then recycle the canister as required. The supplied CO2 canisters are difficult to recycle. The price per litre works out at about 20p before the capital expense of the machine. However there are of course no plastic single use bottles to dispose of.Cons. Only one noted is that it is almost impossible to buy replacement bottles. The bottles are a unique bayonet style and have been out of stock with Amazon for months. LeVivo, the supplier will not supply in the UK. Furthermore, the bottle are categorically not dishwasher safe. They melt. But a good rinse with warm tap water is sufficient. Do not use the competitor syrups. They can stain the plastic.have ordered a second for the office!

So I found this on Amazon when researching SodaStreams. It's cheaper and slimmer than any available SodaStream, so naturally I was expecting a catch. I decided to take a chance on the purchase and I am so glad I did. It fits beautifully in my tiny kitchen and I've been enjoying freshly carbonated water for weeks now.Initially, it took a bit of trial and error to figure out how long to press down for to achieve the level of fizziness that I like (about 3 times the amount recommended in the manual, but I like a lot of bubbles!). It took me about a week to work this out, and I was on the verge of returning it, but I'm so glad I gave it another go. Using chilled water also helps,so I keep the cylinder filled and in my fridge between uses.Once I had worked out how to get it as fizzy as I liked, it was smooth sailing. The build is clean and simple. There's no power cord, or complicated instructions. When you take it out of the box, it's very light, but once the gas cylinder is added, it gives it great stability. After reading earlier reviews, and seeing the trouble people had with finding a gas cylinder replacement, I bought it without the added gas cylinder and got one directly from SodaStream. It works perfectly.

This is a fantastic alternative to a Sodastream and at half the price. It is also far less cumbersome and the bottles are great because they are not so wide. They are tall but fit nicely in the door of the fridge, lying on the shelf or if your lucky enough to have a wine fridge, in there too. You can use the same cylinders and concentrate but I use ordinary good quality cordials such as Belvoir, Tessierrie sirop or Bottle Green. The gas is delivered via a removable top which I store, inverted in the base of the item as you can see from the first photo. Then use just stand the bottle with the top secured in the base, (2nd photo) and gently press down on the top of the appliance to add the gas (3rd photo). The appliance makes a slight whistling noise when you need to stop pressing and if you over press to prevent explosion of the bottle a little water will seep through the gas hole. This is a great safe idea as we’ve have 3 Sodastream bottles explode on us to date. When you’ve finished gasing your water remove the gas top and replace it with the bottle cap to store.

Yeahhhh. Levivo have bought out a new sparkling water maker. This version is an updated design with a smaller footprint and entirely new infuser mechanism. Don’t buy the co2 canister supplied/offered. It is almost impossible to recycle in the UK. Robert Dyas do a very reasonable exchange system. Only down side is the water bottle is too tall to fit upright in most fridges without moving shelves around in the fridge. In a conventional under counter fridge you will need to remove the top shelf in the door to allow the water bottle to stand upright. However, the bottle is thin and tall in design which means that there is a high centre of gravity for the bottle. This means when opening the fridge door the bottle can topple over and potentially fall out of the fridge. Therefore only 4 stars. When ordering consider adding a second water bottle. Each bottle holds approx 75ml. Overall a very compact design that prevents unnecessary waste, as long as supplies of C02 are available in the UK.... another Brexit consequence?

i could count on 1 hand how many kitchen 'gadgets' i've bought that are near flawless, this is definitely one of them. what i love about this:1. it is around half the price of a similar soda stream type product, including 2 bottles and 60l canister2. zero electricity needed. as such, common electrical faults that would otherwise render this entirely useless are not a worry. neither is the standby power used when plugged in. this is my favourite aspect of this product\3. sturdy moving parts, time will tell but i highly doubt this product will fail4. easy to install the canister, you can probably say this of all these types of products to be fair, but it's certainly the case with this one too5.nice size and easy to cleanhonestly love this thing, and recently found a page on facebook for a guy who does exchanges for the canisters for £7, so looking forward to not having to spend a fortune on gas

Purchased this to avoid buying lots of expensive Italian fizzy water in plastic bottles. Honestly find that tap water from the fridge filter put through this carbonator tastes exactly like that expensive fizzy water. Much cheaper and a lot less plastic. The white fitted in better in my utility, but there is a black version. Came with a standard bottle of CO2 and two strong plastic bottles for fizzing. We found that making one or two bottles of water per day the CO2 lasted for a couple of months before needing to be exchanged at the supermarket - or by post from Sodastream. One we keep for water the other gets topped up with Vimto cordial. The unit is well made nd easy to use.Twist the bottle of water in and press the fizz button a couple of times. Then press the pressure release button, or you will find it difficult removing the bottle and then get fizzy water everywhere.

Love this carbonator! SO glad I bought it. I don’t drink tea or coffee, so drink a LOT of fizzy water and have always been uneasy about the amount of plastic I throw away. The water where I live is heavily chlorinated but, used in conjunction with my new water filter, I really don’t think I can tell the difference between the fizzy water made with my Levivo, and sparking mineral waters. You can make it as fizzy as you want; some people like it fizzier than others. I like mine very fizzy. It’s worth noting that the bottles are 1 litre and after a while, towards the end of the bottle, the fizz dies down. Best to drink it as soon as possible after fizzing - or CAREFULLY decant it into 2 x 500ml bottles (so as not to lose the bubbles)and screw the tops on tightly. It remains to be seen, with such heavy use, how long a cylinder of CO2 lasts me.

I've had this carbonator for over a month now and it works perfectly. After reading the reviews on other rival products, I decided to go for this one and I'm glad I did. I particularly like the fact that it comes with two bottles. Each bottle takes approximately 900 ml each of water. So, no need to buy extra bottles. Also, I like the fact that you can purchase it without a gas bottle; I wasn't sure if you could exchange it for a refilled one in the UK. So, I bought a separate Soda Stream gas bottle from Amazon because I know you can exchange them at Argos. It is easy to use but it doesn't come with any instructions but these can be found on YOUTube (only found it in German)but you can easily see how it works.Overall, I'm very pleased and would definitely recommend to family and/or friends.

We wanted to cut down on plastic bottles, so I started looking for sparkling water makers, initially thinking SodaStream. I read the reviews about Levivo and decided to get one and have not regretted it. It is easy to use, easy to clean, everything is as described and the bottles feel sturdy and keep water nice and sparkling in fridge. Only downside: you can't buy Levivo replacement cylinders on Amazon, so have to go with Sodastream. I pursuaded a friend abroad to stop buying sparkling water in plastic bottles and they could only get a Sodastream, and I can categorically support the opinion that Levivo is much much easier to use. Last piece of advice: don't ignore the warning not to put bottles in dishwasher.I did and they bent!

Bought this for a friend for Christmas. She finds it easy to use; she drinks a lot of soda water. Makes great tasting, safe soda water (and other carbonated drinks) that are much cheaper than store bought goods and also means that one isn't transporting and disposing plastic bottles anymore.Doesn't take up much counter space, looks nice in the kitchen and earned me brownie points as she'd always wanted a "Sodastream" but baulked at the price.Uses the same C02 cylinders as a "Sodastream" so not expensive on refills and the unit retails at a much better price. Also the safety catch on the soda bottles seems much safer from an engineering point of view.Really happy with my purchase as is therecipient of the gift.

Works great. Simple to use. Word of caution. If you add flavor liquid do it very slowly or there might be an eruption!. Always use very cold water and never fill the bottle over the line or the gas cannot get into the water. In the 80s I had a sodastream which was good but I think it slowly leaked gas , also tried a soda syphon recently which made quite flat water. This machine makes a nice cola that's for sure. Not sure how it compares to a modern sodastream but the results are very satisfactory. The bottles for this are not compatible with sodastream bottles due to bayonet fitting and sadly I cannot find 0.5L bottles for this but overall at the price an excellent product.

I’d completely forgotten about sodastream until my friend offered me fizzy water in my bottlegreen cordial. I love the look of this one - sleek, slimline and smart. I haven’t bought any of the usual syrups, I use it to carbonate water which I then add to bottlegreen cordial very slowly/carefully. In a screw top glass bottle, water stays fizzy for a few days in the fridge. Gas bottle is compatible with sodastream, and lasted about a month with daily use. With lockdown I’ve had to order new gas bottles from amazon, which works out quite expensive. Hoping to switch to the cheaper exchange of old bottles for new, from Argos via Sainsbury’s.

Having bought a brand new SodaStream, I found that it would not fully fizz the water due to gas leaking from the new clamp mechanism. The Levivo machine is cheaper and has a far better locking mechanism so makes ferociously fizzy water if you want it that way. Despite chucking the brand new SodaStream away, I was at least able to use the gas cylinder as it is compatible with the Levivo carbonator. However, one word of warning: You must read the instructions! The set-up and use (including having to press a safety button to release the pressure on the bottle before removing it) is straightforward, but not immediately obvious.
