Just got these 513's in the Bastion color, which is a perfect Dark Blue, and so far I am VERY happy with them! They solved every issue I was experiencing with the 511's...Backstory: I have a friend who has gone completely "hipster" in his style these past few years and he recently decided that every groomsman in his wedding, which includes me, should adhere to the same trendy "hipster" (aka: "anorexic lumberjack") theme with tweed vests, moc-toed brown boots, as much facial hair as possible and, the icing on the "hipster" cake, Levi's 511 "Slim" cut jeans. Now, don't get me wrong, the 511s look great on him and really do work for his style. But he's 5'8" and 155 lbs. Those same jeans don't look nearly as attractive on my larger 6'4" 235lb frame. In fact, the 511s on me look like 510 skinny (aka: "hey little sis, can I borrow your pants?") jeans do on him.My build is quite average and I don't really have a belly or lots of "extra" padding anywhere. Despite this, the 511s were extremely tight everywhere and gave me a certifiable plumber's crack when standing that left me afraid to move in any direction. The 511s seemed to be a full size or two smaller in the waist than tagged, but a 38, which I usually wear in all my pants including my other Levi's, is the largest waist available in a 34" inseam without resorting to a budget-shattering custom order. What's more, the exaggerated "carrot" (big on top, small on bottom) shape that the 511s gave me made my wife laugh out loud when she saw them There was no way I was going to stand in front of 200 people looking that way!Enter the Levi's 513...This is what "Slim" jeans were meant to be for those of us who feel we need to shoe-horn the 511s over our feet, calves and thighs. The 513s maintain a very similar shape to the 511, but are about 10% more forgiving in all the areas that count. These are still very much "low rise", but I found the cut of the 513's backside to be far more comfortable and confidence-inspiring. It single-handedly erased the concerns I had over there being a "full moon" on the wedding night. The thighs and seat are snug and trim against the body like the 511s, but (at least with the "Bastion" version I received) the top half of the jean is much more conducive to normal human movement without sacrificing the overall "slim" appearance. The most obvious difference compared to the 511s is in the area below the knee. The upper legs definitely taper in at the knee, but do not hug the knees as tightly as the 511s. With the "straight" bottoms, there is far less taper through the calves and the leg opening at the ankle is slightly larger than on the 511, but not nearly as big as most other Levi's styles.Fortunately, my naturally thicker calves fill out the bottom of the 513s well and, as such, visually retains most of that "tapered" look of the 511 without being nearly as constrictive in use.All in all, I declare the 513 cut to be the "Slim" jean solution for the big guys.If the 511s fit you like denim-infused plastic wrap, give the 513s a try! And, Chris, if you're reading this, know that I still love you, your questionable taste in wedding outfits and your meticulously groomed facial hair. With the pants out of the way, I can finally look forward to the wedding with confidence that I won't look any worse than I have to!Conclusion: Levi's 513s ROCK!Highly Recommended!

I have never owned a decent pair of jeans. I am 31 and 5'8" and 190-200lbs depending on how much I work out. Larger thighs and wide ass. I have recently been wearing Levis 514s for the past two years or so in a 36Wx30L with the "stretch" / elastane in them. Well I had two pairs of those that I felt fit great and two that felt kinda frumpy when I wore them. Eventually the two I liked wore out in the inner thigh region and it was time to get some new jeans.I have been working out more recently and felt that I was swiimming in the two frumpy pair of 514s that I had.. . So I went to a local retailer Kh... and started to try on jeans. I started with the 511s to try them out and no way could I wear them.Way to tight on me. Then onto the good old 514s in a 34Wx30L however none of the pairs there had the "Stretch" feature. The pants fit however I felt llke I was going to rip the crotch out if I squatted down. I didnt even try the 514s in 36Wx30L because I wanted something more fitting on the rear end..So I moved onto the 513s in a 34Wx30L. The majority of these pairs have the "stretch" quality which is perfect for me. They hug my thighs but are not too tight and they are a little more slim on the lower leg than the 514s which is a nice feel. When I squat down the jeans stretch a bit and I do not feel like I am going to rip out of them. Overall I feel like a new man in the 513s compared to the previous 514s I had. So I bought two pair at the retailer (only washes they had) and proceeded Amazon for more washes. I ordered an additional 6 pairs all 34Wx30L. After washing and drying on low heat the first two pairs from the retailer I can say that they did not shrink any if at all that I can really tell. They just fit really well.I am actually thinking about going to try on 32Wx30L at the store just to ease my mind that I am in the right size. I say this because after I brought the first two pair at the retailer I went home and actually measure my waist line with a body tape and my waist is actually a 36.25" according to a measurement yet these 34Wx30s fit pretty damn near perfect. Because of this I have not washed the additional 6 pairs I have received from amazon just yet however they all seem to fit well except one pair. The only pair I bought that was 100% cotton was the Blue Nirvana wash. They fit a bit snug on me compared to the other pairs with the "stretch" I may need to return them but I am going to hold on to them for a few weeks to see how they feel if I keep losing weight..All in all I am pretty happy with the 513s. I even ordered Lucky 221 in 34Wx30L because no retailer seemed to have them in stock for me to try on. I would say they are comparable to each other with the 513s being slimmer in the lower leg.Update:After continuing to lose some weight I feel like these 34Wx30L are really more like 36Wx30L. I tried an additional wash and dry cycle on higher heat hoping to shrink them just a bit but they did not shrink any I could tell. I will be returning the additional pairs that I had purchased and going to try one 33W or even possibly a 32W to see what fits best. I feel like they run a bit large and a little saggy in rear end.

In reading many of the reviews here, I can tell you that for those individuals that have found these to be true to size, I would not concur and even argue that these “slim” jeans are tougher around the waist than many other brands. I am not a small person, but also, not heavy. I can fit into a 36 or 38 (a little more roomy with the latter if truth be told). Given the propensity for Levis to be dicey when it comes to size, I decide to go for the higher number. What I found was beyond belief even for a tougher jean to align with truer sizing. The 38 could simply not close and needs to be immediately returned for a higher size. I will tell you that while I am somewhat confident that a size higher will do the trick,I am sticking to the assertion that the slim fit is the correct route to traverse. Now, I am a firm believer that for those of us that do not have an anorexic look naturally, slim fit jeans are a definite advantage. They fit a bit higher and aside from the more tapered feel around the thighs, offer a more complimentary look overall. Straight leg jeans are fine and they probably will fit you with room to spare, however, the “room to spare” is exactly the look you do not want. If you are a larger person, why exchange the larger leg for an appearance of a more narrow and flattering effect? Remember, these are not ‘skinny’ jeans and simply because they include the moniker of “slim,” they are still for you and will look infinitely better in this reviewer’s opinion. So, in summation, you may have to play a bit with the waist size, but once we have that hurdle cleared, you will absolutely love the feel and look of the slim style. You have nothing to lose and even more ‘imaginary bulk’ to lose. Try it, the worst that can occur, is one exchanges them for a larger waist.

I'm used to the 511s but wanted to switch it up a bit, so I got these. They aren't much different then the 511s, except the offer a little more leg room which is what I was looking for. So when wearing the 513s I can move around much more freely without the restriction the 511s can have sometimes. They still look lean and close fitting maybe just a little more room around the ankle which fits a little better over a shoe. (I wear vans) and they aren't dragging on the floor or anything.I highly recommend them. A little more grown up look then the 511s, while keeping the style of skinny jeans. And I got the bastion color which is just dark blue,I was skeptical about buying online because levis have all these weird colors and is hard to tell what they look like online. But I just wanted dark blue, and that's what they are.Oh and also with people complaining about the stretchy fabric. Idk what they have to complain about the material is really comfortable and the stretch allows the pants to move with you instead of restricting you like straight up denim. Which is great because i ride bikes (bmx) and I've ripped many pairs of pants that didnt have the stretchy material built in. I've worn levis for years and both denim and the denim with the stretch have lasted for years even through the stretchy ones feel like a lighter fabric. I've got both styles pushing 4 years of everyday wear and tear to crashes at the skatepark. You should not be swayed because of the material they ar3 is what I guess I'm trying to say. Lol.

Previously had regular fit and relaxed fit jeans with and without bootcut. But styles change and I needed a new fresh look so my friend recommended Levi 513's. Bought 2 pairs, a dark and a lighter wash. Excellent shipping speed, Amazon always seems to deliver anything I order within a week even if I choose the cheapest slowest shipping option.Never having owned a pair of Levi's, I feel I have been missing out. These are probably the best fitting, most comfortable jeans I have ever worn, and for the price it totally beats out high end designer brands I have been wasting my money on for years. I usually wear these on the weekend to casual outings, bar, movies, going out on the town what have you. What surprised me the most is how elastic the denim is. Every pair of jeans I ever bought was fairly rough and stiff and there is a break in period but these felt broken in as soon as I wore them, not baggy or ridged... Extremely comfortable.People should know before buying the 513's is they are SLIM FIT. The leg opening is small so it gives you that "skinny" look but still the fabric does not hug your skin, the waist fits comfortable and is not tight. If you have really skinny legs and want something that hugs your legs then you want the 512's which is SKINNY.Curious thing about the jeans is I bought a similar pair from Nordstrom, a dark blue with black threading (although 35$ more) but the material was denim but very stiff and hard, so I decided to return them. All in all, great jeans, great price, great fit.

I purchased these for my husband because I was sick of seeing him wearing his bagged out Wranglers - and our son asked me to please just order him a pair of slimmer jeans, hand them to him and tell him to wear them - apparently he thought he needed a change too so I did exactly that! The issue he has with all jeans is that he has no butt and and doesn't like to spend money on the better jeans that suit his body type (I sort of agree - even my own women's Levi's are $40 (on sale) - $50 a pair and you need at minimum 2-3 pair) so he always looks like he's wearing someone else's jeans.I bought the darker blue pair (but maybe should have gone a bit lighter.)He loves the way they fit and didn't mind the stretch - a first for him - but thought they were just a bit warm on a 70 degree day. I wear skinny stretch Levi 525's and know that on warmer days, they do get a bit uncomfortably clingy but that just goes with the territory. Too bad they don't come in 100% cotton. All in all they are a hit - he actually wants more (I almost fell over with shock) but since he is in the process of losing weight, he wants to wait a bit before he buys a couple more .So you guys out there who have trouble finding jeans that don't bag in the tail end (flat butts), consider these. Not too tight (my husband is 60 and they look great on him - NOT at all like a middle aged guy trying to look young and hip), not too loose - just right. Just know that the dark blue (Bastion) is pretty dark. Going for the lighter ones next time..

I tried several Levi's fits. I liked the 513 the best but also kept the 511. It's a little loose in the waist. I tried the 31 which fit better in the waist but was too tight when sitting down. I wish there was a "slim tailored" variant so the legs could be a littler slimmer but this works. This particular fabric did not have as much stretch as the 511 "Bee Eye" color that I tried.Garment Measurement Comparisons*:502 Regular Tapered - Crying Sky StretchSize: 32x30Hip (-7" below top): 40"Thigh (-1" below crotch): 23.5"Knee (+2" above middle of inseam): 17"Opening: 15"511 Slim - Bee Eye StretchSize: 32x30Hip (-7" below top): 39.5"Thigh (-1" below crotch): 22.5"Knee (+2" above middle of inseam):16"Opening: 14.5"513 Slim Straight - Bowman Lake StretchSize: 32x30Hip (-7" below top): 40.75"Thigh (-1" below crotch): 22.5"Knee (+2" above middle of inseam): 17"Opening: 15.5"My body measurements:Waist: 33"Hip (-7"): 37"Thigh (-3" below crotch): 21.5"Knee (on bone): 16"Calves (widest): 15.25"Opening (above ankle): 9.25"* Levis are known for having inconsistent sizing. Just because I returned them I am not sure how to rate them but it was not Levi's fault that they didn't fit me, unless its just because they have to many decisions. I am 5' 10" tall and 194 lbs. I have a pair of levi's size 34 - 30 that I was wearing when I ordered these which fit very well. Okay so I guess my comfy Levi's are not slim straight fit and must not be 513's, the ones I just sent back were a little small around my waist, and to snug on my legs for my comfort. Very nice jeans though, I really like the stretch from 2% elastin but need a little larger waist and looser fit,I usually go to a local store and try on jeans until I find some that fit well.I prefer buying online since I can read the reviews so I need to learn from minimal trial and error, so in the future I will know what works for me. As I stated these jeans look nice, and do not look like stretchy jeans but if they were the correct size I feel I would have really liked them. Light weight material which is fine for me since I am older now and not so rough on my jeans. If you are a little chunky and have full size legs, vs thin legs you may not like these but if you want to try them, be sure to order a larger size then normal.

I have a pair of 513s that I love and decided to get a couple more pairs in different colors. Placed my order (Bowman Lake and Bastion) and they arrived a few days later. Tried them on and both felt different than my existing pair. I was perplexed and looked to make sure they were the right size and number and they were the same. Then I looked at the tags and was surprised to see that they were made of drastically different materials than my other 513's. The Bowman Lake have almost no stretch and are 60% cotton and 40% polyester. The color of the Bowman Lake is fantastic, btw, but due to the non-stretch, I really should have gotten them in a size larger to give me a little more room. The Bastion are 98% cotton and 2% spandex and fit closer to my other 513s but definitely feel different. Not necessarily bad, just different. My original pair are 99% cotton and 1% elastane, which is apparently in my "Goldilocks" zone for fit and feel. So, this is not Amazon's fault at all, they have the materials listed correctly on the description, I just assumed all 513s were made of the same material but with different colored dyes. Apparently that is not the case.

This is my first time trying Levi's in a long time. I have been wearing Express jeans for years, but decided to give these a shot. I ordered the 513 in the "bastion" color. I am 5'6" and ordered a 32x30 which usually fits me in most brands. When I received the jeans I noticed that they were the "stretch" material which contains some elastic mixed in with the cotton. I wish that this was included in the item description. The jeans were very long on me, by over 2 inches. This occasionally happens with other brands, but never to this extent. Otherwise the jeans fit very well. They are not baggy around the legs but not too tight either. The seat of the jeans fits well, not too tight but not baggy either. The wash is a nice dark blue (true to picture).Since I got these for a good price and they fit me well otherwise, I decided that I will hem them to make the length fit. I am interested to see how well they wear with the elastic in them, I will update this review after wearing them for a few months.

Finally found my fit, I've been looking high and low with no success until about a month ago or so!!! One of the most comfortable pair of jeans I have ever paid money for. I'm 6'4" tall male and weigh around 250, the problem I kept on running into with other pants is that the thigh section of the pants was too tight and I would rip my jeans if I had to do a motion similar to a lunge, for example instead of going up the stairs one step at a time, I once and only once skipped a step and tried to step onto the second one and I did however my pants ripped right down the crotch area. "Tell me more" you say, well sure, imagine you are heading outside and you need to put on your tennis shoes and tie the laces so the most logical and efficient way is probably by taking a knee.Well if you have jeans that are loose on your waist but still tight through the thighs they rip, so this fristration led me to stretchy jeans and these are second to none, one of the most comfortable pair of jeans I have ever worn

I have seen other pairs of 513's (in other colors) made from stretch denim so I was surprised when this pair arrived, made from a very thin, lightweight, all-cotton fabric. They fit well out of the package and fit even better after the first wash and dry. The color is a dark, black-ish blue, with variegated gray vertical streaking due to the weaving process, not from bleaching or other color loss. The stitching is bright orange-gold and the rivets are pewter-gray with a matte (not shiny) finish. The 513's are not as low-rise as the 511's and they are not as high-waisted as the 514's - they fall somewhere in the middle. On me they sit just on the hip-bone,exactly where I like my trousers to sit: Above that point I feel like I'm wearing "old man pants" and below it I feel I have to keep hitching them up.Would I have preferred if the jeans were as described? Yes. Am I displeased with the jeans as-is? No. As a matter of fact, I'm going to order another pair in a different color.

These jeans are great. A Lightweight jean with a great fit. I weigh 180, 6' tall. Athletic build, wear a 32x32. And I love this 513. I've been wearing the 508's, and had read the reviews on these. Glad I did. if your looking for a great pair of slim straight legged jeans, these are the ones. Next day service brought to you by Amazon Prime. The color of these are true to the picture as well.Added note to my original review. This is my fourth pair of 513's. Although not all 508's, or 513's are stretch type, these are. Not noticeably so as in polyester type products, but they have 1% Elastane in them. So unlike typical 100% cotton, these won't shrink as much after washing, provided you don't wash in hot water. And they have some give in the waste. That's the real benefit of this jean. But you have to be careful when ordering, every color isn't the same in the 513 series. So if you, like me, getting older and waste size fluctuates some, these are the perfect jean.

These are a much more practical fitting cut than the 511 jeans. Though not exactly what I would call relaxed fit, they are much more comfortable and forgiving than the typical skinny jean. They don't overcrowd my man parts in other words, yet they still have the form fitting look of a skinny jean. You can actually move in these with ease, especially with the 2% stretch. Why all styles of the 513 jeans don't have the 2% stretch is beyond me, but the Bastion style does. They are a nice indigo shade of blue, almost like raw denim, which I like because I prefer to break in my jeans naturally as opposed to buying them with processed fading, which always look fake to me. The low rise on the 513 is also good,in fact I'm so used to low rise pants that I find what would be considered normal rise to feel like middle aged Dad-jeans. The 513 jeans are not that. I recommend these jeans wholeheartedly, but only if they have the 2% stretch.

Sizing is pretty inconsistent here. Levi's usually run larger than I'd expect (I'm a 38x36 in every other pant, but 36x34 in Levi).Coming from the Levi 559 which fit me perfectly (if a bit large in the thigh) in a 36x34, I expected the same size to work. Quincy 36x34 was way too small, 38x34 a bit large but still look great, about the kind of fit I'd expect, really.Quincy is *incredibly* soft. The softest jeans I've ever owned.I ordered a pair of Bastion, same size as the Quincy that fit me, and they were far too large, too long, and not at all soft.So to sum up... Quincy run about the size I'd actually expect, but run small for what I'm used to from Levi, but are an amazing pair of jeans overall.Comfortable, soft, and look great.Bastion are about the size I'd expect from Levi (I'm willing to bet the 36x34 would fit me perfectly), but don't have the softness of the Quincy.
